Getting There - frequent busses to and from Beijing. takes around 2 hours. Attractions - Great Wall hiking or cable car up. Water fountain show in the evening which is amazing and plenty of entertainment throughout the day. all times are advertised when you arrive. Hotels - hotels are expensive but most look lovely. you also get discounted entry price and Gubei at night is amazing… and super quiet in the mornings. so I would recommend staying a night. Gubei Water Town is located on the northeast side of Miyun County in Beijing. This water town is about 2 hours drive from Beijing city. It is known for its northern architectural design and the culture and history of the Qing Dynasty and the Republic of China historic period. Majority of the buildings in the town have been reconstructed using the traditional courtyard design. This Watertown has grown from just 5 ancient villages and a water source into a renowned holiday destination. There are lots of food and gorgeous little shops to visit. Night view is exceptional. Gubei Water Town is named for its style reminiscent of Wuzhen, a water town in the south of the Yangtze River, due to its location in Simatai Village, Gubeikou, Miyun, Beijing. Backed by the Simatai Great Wall, which is the most beautiful and dangerous in China, and embracing the Mandarin Duck Lake Reservoir, it is a rare natural ancient village that combines mountains, water, and city on the outskirts of Beijing. The entire ancient town of Gubei Water Town was redeveloped based on the original three natural villages and is a modern newly built vacation-style town with unique northern characteristics. The town covers an area of 9 square kilometers and is divided into several areas: the Old Camp area, the Republic of China Street area, the Water Street area, the Wolong Fort Folk area, the Tang River Ancient Fort area, and the Homestay Dining and Hou Chuan Zen Valley, etc. The architectural style of the town is diverse and antique, with stone bridges, green tiles and white walls, and colorful folk stalls that dazzle the eyes. (But the prices inside are extremely high, a bottle of water costs 8 yuan Climbing the Great Wall at night is one of the unique features of Gubei Water Town. You can take a ride up and down, and you only need to climb a short section. From the top of the mountain, you can see the entire water town scenery. There is a drone show at seven o'clock in the evening, which might be just an ordinary drone show and not very spectacular. But Gubei Water Town has a good location, backed by the Great Wall. Two phoenixes fly up from the side of the Great Wall, and with the mountain scenery, it is quite magnificent.
