Baiyun Manor

Baiyunzhuang is the place where Huang Zongxi, the founder of the famous Zhedong School in the late Ming and early Qing dynasties, gave lectures. It is located near the bank of Guanjiang River in the western suburbs of Ningbo City. It was originally the tomb of Wantai, the head of the household department in the late Ming Dynasty. "Mr. Baiyun" was buried here after his death, hence the name Baiyun Village. In the seventh year of Emperor Kangxi of the Qing Dynasty (1668), Huang Zongxi came to Ningbo to give lectures at the invitation of Wantai and others. At one time, celebrities gathered and literati gathered together, and the Siming style of study suddenly opened. The school site was originally located in Wantai's house on Guangji Street, and later moved to Yanqing Temple, called the Witness Academy, and then moved to Baiyunzhuang two years later. The rebuilt Baiyun Village is surrounded by high walls, surrounded by green bamboos, greenery everywhere, and the environment is simple, elegant, quiet and high. The main building sits west to the east, with the Taimen Gate in Ming Dynasty. The foreheads of the two gates are written in italics: "Yongren Witness Academy" (also known as Mr. Lizhou's Lecture Office) and "Baiyun Village". In Baiyun Village are the former residence of Wan Sitong and the life of Huang Zongxi. The deeds and the main figures of the Zhedong School and their influences are displayed. The west side of the showroom and the former residence is the base of Wan (Wanbangfu, Wan Sixuan, etc.), among which the tomb of Wanbangfu, the governor of the Ming Dynasty, is very large.
