It felt quite safe, and the room was spacious with a great view outside. The AC was already on when I checked in, which was a nice touch. 👍 The only minor downside was that there was nowhere to hang clothes, which I mentioned, and they said they'd add it right away! 👍👍👍👍

The pillows were uncomfortable. I asked the butler for more, but they were unprepared; for four people, we only received two pillows and were told there were no more. For such a large hotel, running out of pillows is unacceptable.
During the plant activity, the small gifts provided felt very perfunctory, especially considering the hotel's star rating.
The afternoon tea seemed to have shortcuts taken. I informed the butler, who said they would make it up later. Although they did replenish it eventually, this raises a question of integrity.
The breakfast selection was limited, with not many options.
On the second day, our room wasn't cleaned proactively, nor were we asked if we needed service. I had to request staff to come, and they only changed the trash bags and replenished the bottled water.
However, I'd like to commend the lifeguard at the pool. My child got scared in the water, and their response was very prompt. My thanks to the lifeguard.

The room was spacious, and there was plenty of hot water, plus the air conditioning worked really well. My only minor complaint is that they only offer laundry service and don't have a self-service laundromat. For summer travel, it's much more convenient to be able to wash and dry your own clothes. There was ample parking, which was super handy for picking up and dropping off people at the airport.

Facilities: The apartment is well-equipped, and the bathroom has a separate wet and dry area.
Cleanliness: The room was clean and hygienic, with no strange odors.
Environment: The apartment is very close to the airport, just a few minutes' drive away. Taxis are also very convenient, and there's a shopping mall nearby, so food and drinks are easily accessible.
Service: The service was excellent, and the airport pick-up service was great; just contact the owner in advance. They also responded promptly to any issues.
The room was very spacious and offered great value for money.

Our flight was originally scheduled to arrive at 1 AM, and I had arranged an airport pickup with the guesthouse owner. However, due to unforeseen circumstances, we didn't land until past 5 AM. I woke the owner up, and he graciously drove to the airport to pick us up without any complaints. He even took us for breakfast and later dropped us off at the airport around noon. Running a business truly isn't easy!
The guesthouse room was clean, tidy, and very quiet, with a comfortable bed. We fell asleep instantly and had a great rest. One of the rooms offered a lovely sea view, and we even caught the sunrise. The guesthouse looks exactly like the pictures on the platform. I travel frequently but rarely write reviews, especially one this long. Wishing the owner prosperous business and continued success!

As an IHG member, I chose the InterContinental Xiamen Seaview for a trip to Xiamen with my parents to celebrate my mother's birthday. I communicated my needs via email before arrival, and the hotel upgraded us to a high-floor sea view room upon check-in, offering superb views, including a glimpse of the Mazu statue. The beach is just a ten-minute walk away, and getting around by taxi is very convenient. The room included a complimentary first round of mini-bar items and welcome fruit. The pool and sauna experience were excellent.
When a minor issue arose with the room equipment, the hotel promptly responded by upgrading us to an adjacent room, and the resolution was very satisfactory. Special thanks to our butler, Vivian, who was incredibly responsive and helpful with all matters throughout our stay, solving many of our problems with exceptional dedication. The breakfast selection was extensive, and they even provided an extra breakfast for our party of three. Overall, the experience was fantastic, and I would definitely choose this hotel again on my next visit to Xiamen.

The room was spotless, with large windows offering mountain and sea views. After the tide went out, many people were out clam digging. Downstairs, there were local specialties like Shacha noodles and oyster pancakes. The smart toilet and voice control system were a nice touch, and the large bathtub was very relaxing. The rooftop garden was also fantastic, perfect for enjoying the scenery after breakfast.

Open the window to the azure sea, and wake up each morning to the sound of the waves – a truly soothing experience. The rooms are meticulously designed, complete with blackout curtains, high-quality toiletries, and a mini-fridge. Cleanliness is impeccable. The owner is friendly, responsive, and always quick to help. Relaxing on the balcony, gazing at the sea, is the perfect place for a private getaway – a perfect score!

Gulangyu Liuyue Hotel, full marks, highly recommended! ✨
For accommodation on Gulangyu, look no further than Liuyue! The location is superb, very close to Sunlight Rock, and just a short walk to the beach. It's incredibly convenient for exploring, dining, and getting around.
The environment is elegant and clean, and the rooms are tidy and comfortable. The sea view rooms offer an incredible view; open the window and you're greeted by the sea and lush greenery – so peaceful and therapeutic.
The service is incredibly thoughtful. They send you the island arrival route in advance, and the staff are warm and patient, giving very helpful recommendations for routes and local food.
Overall, the value for money is excellent. It's quiet and not noisy, and the stay was a perfect experience. This is definitely the top choice for Gulangyu, you won't be disappointed! 💯

Years ago, I used to visit Xiamen (Lüdao) quite often, and some details just slipped my mind. You truly get a deeper feel for a place once you've genuinely integrated into it. In December 2023, I stayed in Xiamen for almost half a month due to training. My lasting impressions of this typical tourist city were the difficulty of getting a taxi, the narrow roads, and the tour groups everywhere. This time, on our way back after a food trip to Chaozhou, we decided to be smart. To avoid the massive crowds on Xiamen Island and Gulangyu, we chose to stay in a guesthouse in Jimei Study Village. We figured that since faraway tourists mostly flock to Baicheng Beach and Zhongshan Road, the sights outside the island hadn't yet gained widespread fame, so we should be able to enjoy plenty of peace and quiet.
Unfortunately, things didn't go as planned. Banana Bay, Dragon Boat Pond, Dashe… everywhere was packed with people, and all entrances and exits had traffic controls in place. At first, everyone grumbled when they saw shared bikes were prohibited. But once you walked through the narrow alleys, you understood the administration's good intentions. After a stroll around, I felt that compared to the noise and disorder of Zengcuo'an and Shapowei, Jimei Dashe was much more orderly and clean. The small shops also had their own unique charm, no wonder it has become a new popular spot for Instagrammers.

IIain13This is a duplicate of my review for dates from 6 to 8 June 2026, as I extended my stay for one night.
I thoroughly enjoyed my stay at this hotel and would happily stay here again.
The location is excellent. It's right next to the metro, directly across the road from China City Mall, and within easy walking distance of Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, the waterfront and the ferry wharf. It made exploring Xiamen incredibly easy.
The staff were consistently helpful and efficient. They obtained information about the Xiamen-Kinmen ferry, which was greatly appreciated. The breakfast restaurant staff deserve special mention as they were always friendly, welcoming and genuinely seemed pleased to see their guests each morning.
The room itself was lovely. The bed was extremely comfortable, the bathroom was excellent and while I didn't use the bath, the shower was very good. The hotel also has a nice swimming pool, gym and lounge area, all of which added to the overall experience.
Breakfast was good, with plenty of choices, both Asian and Western, and a pleasant atmosphere.
I only intended to stay a short time, but enjoyed both the hotel and Xiamen enough that I extended my stay by an extra night. From my room I had good views, including Zheng Chenggong's statue on Gulangyu Island and Xiamen's Twin Towers in the distance.
This hotel certainly helped make my stay in Xiamen an enjoyable one. I left with very positive memories and would gladly stay here again.
RRussell LThe Conrad Xiamen's sea-view king room truly redefines a 'sky-high' vacation experience. Situated on a high floor, the panoramic floor-to-ceiling windows offer an unobstructed view, allowing you to gaze at the azure sea, Gulangyu Island, and Yanwu Bridge right from your bed. The sunset glow painting the ocean surface creates an incredibly atmospheric scene. The room itself is spacious and elegant, with a plush, skin-friendly king-size bed. The bathtub by the window lets you soak while enjoying the sea view. Amenities like Byredo toiletries and excellent audiovisual equipment are all provided. The minimalist luxury design, coupled with attentive service, ensures stunning views of both sunrise and city lights. It’s an immersive experience, making you feel like you own the entire seaview of Xiamen – truly romantic and rejuvenating.
GGuest UserThis trip to Xiamen, I chose the Chunguang Hotel on Zhongshan Road, and it was a true hidden gem! The front desk lady was incredibly thoughtful; not only did she help us plan our Gulangyu itinerary, but she also reminded us to buy ferry tickets during off-peak hours to avoid the crowds. Those little details really added to the experience! The location is absolutely unbeatable—turn left out of the hotel and you're right on Zhongshan Road Pedestrian Street, with famous old eateries like Huang Zehe Peanut Soup and 1980 Shaorou Zong (roasted pork dumplings) just a stone's throw away. Turn right, and in 5 minutes you're at the Eighth Market (Bashi), and I'm still dreaming about the golden crispiness of Ah Jie Wuxiang (five-spice fritters). The biggest surprise was that the hotel faces the Gulangyu ferry terminal directly. Strolling at night, watching the lights across the water, I instantly 'got' the romance of old Xiamen.
AAnonymous UserOur stay at RYD exceeded all expectations, a solid 120%! The floor-to-ceiling windows in our room offered breathtaking, expansive views of Gulangyu Island, perfect for catching both sunrise and sunset. We enjoyed the clear blue sea by day and the twinkling lights by night. The staff were incredibly attentive and warm throughout our stay, providing meticulous service. They even extended our check-out time so we wouldn't have to rush for our train, which was a thoughtful touch. The room was clean and comfortable, and the hotel's location made getting around a breeze. With amazing views and heartwarming, personalized service, it's convenient for all your travel needs. We'll definitely be staying here again on our next trip to Xiamen! A big thank you to the front desk lady, to the cleaning staff for their late-night service, and to the welcoming and departing gentleman!
GGuest UserFive out of five stars, I highly recommend Gulangyu Bayview Hotel! The location is absolutely perfect – it's just a few minutes' walk along the coast from the Sanchietian Pier, so you don't have to drag your luggage up hills. Plus, the hotel staff meet you upon arrival, which saves a lot of effort and worry. Just a few steps outside, and you're on Longtou Road Snack Street, making exploring and eating incredibly convenient. It’s lively yet quiet, and not noisy at all.
The century-old banyan tree in front of the hotel stands as a witness to the passage of time.
The room was clean, dry, and free of dampness. The bathroom had a separate wet and dry area, and the smart toilet was a nice touch. The bedding was soft, ensuring a very restful sleep.
The front desk service was gentle and attentive. They patiently recommended lesser-known spots and authentic local snacks on the island. Luggage storage and travel guidance were all perfectly arranged.
This trip to Gulangyu was exceptionally comfortable. The sea view, environment, service, and location were all top-notch. I'll definitely choose this hotel again next time, and I strongly recommend it to any friends visiting Gulangyu to stay for a few nights!

AAnonymous UserTraveling with my child, I found the lobby grand and the room clean and hygienic. The disposable slippers and toiletries were great, and they even provided children's lotion, which was a thoughtful touch. The kids' club was also quite clean; although not very large, it was perfect for an hour of fun to let the kids burn off some energy.
What impressed me most was the Le Wei restaurant. The buffet allows one child under 120cm to dine for free, which is very practical and considerate.
The hotel is right next to the Rainbow Boardwalk and the beach, and the beachfront restaurant even has live music, creating a wonderful atmosphere.
Overall, it's an excellent family-friendly hotel. My child had a fantastic experience and said they want to come back again.
LLvjieThe hotel boasts an excellent location with expansive sea views, and the floor-to-ceiling windows in the sea-view rooms offer breathtaking scenery. The rooms are clean and tidy, with comfortable bedding and complete bathroom facilities. The service is warm and attentive, with prompt front desk responses. Breakfast is rich and features local Fujian (Min-nan) specialties. The accompanying pool and gym facilities are comprehensive, offering great value for money. The surrounding area is quiet, and transportation is convenient, making it suitable for both leisure and business stays. Overall, the experience was satisfying and highly recommended.

This hotel is away from the city centre, it’s has incredible views of the bay. Staff very attentive even offering their personal WeChat to assist with potential issues as it was busy period for the hotel.
Breakfast buffet- very extensive, noodles station, egg station, lots of variety, breads, soups, pastries, to local delicacy.
Hotel is 5 star rating but several areas needed TLC especially faded walls, cables poking out and shower facilities in the changing rooms in the gym in need of upgrade.
Rooms are very large, with bath tub, separate toilet and shower unit, wardrobe and luggage storage at the side of the door. King Fu tea set, 4 bottles of mineral water, 24 hour restaurant, cafe and small convenience shop attached to the hotel. Local eateries are about 10 minute walk away.
GGuobao^_^Overall, it was pretty good. The hotel's location is super convenient for getting around. The pier is about 500 meters from the entrance, and it's just a fifteen-minute boat ride to Xiamen No. 1 Pier, making it easy to go anywhere. A concierge even proactively helped us with directions to the pier; he was really enthusiastic 👍. The ferry ticket to Gulangyu Island was only 35 RMB, and the hotel breakfast was decent too.
Regarding the upgrade to a deluxe sea-view room (subject to availability on the day): I booked a superior sea-view room, and the front desk upgraded us to a deluxe sea-view family room.
For the mini-bar, you need to proactively contact the front desk for refills.
Also, for the cute little souvenir doll included in the package, you need to ask the front desk for it.
It's a really adorable doll 🥰
