Sai Yok Homestays

In a very remote valley, there are no stores around, which is very inconvenient if you are not driving by yourself. Eating can only be done at the hotel. The ecology is very good. If you put food on the table, it will be covered with ants. Don't go there during the rainy season. The river outside is very turbid, the river is very fast, and the room shakes violently. It is not recommended for those who suffer from seasickness. We took the hotel's chartered boat tour, but there wasn't much to see. Apart from seeing other hotels along the way, there weren't many attractions. It's not recommended to participate.

Four of us stayed at the River Kwai Resotel resort over the Christmas holiday. Our rooms were bungalow-style with a shared porch. The rooms were clean and well-maintained. The shower was very large and the amenities were adequate. They replenished the coffee/tea daily in addition to the waters. Even though other bungalows are very near, they do a great job of landscaping to block the views between them. Breakfast was ample. The restaurant is quite good, especially with its Thai offerings. They have 2 nice swimming pools. The one near reception is a smaller size while the one to the west of the main area is quite large. We enjoyed many swims. There are bikes available for use on grounds. They have some lounge chairs below at their dock. You can arrive by boat or car. The drive in is quite long and through a very rural area. It's quite amazing when you reach the end of the road and see this entire resort unfold. We spent some time and a little money at the neighboring Mon village. Walking up to the caves at the small, national park was also fun. Lots of up & down walking at the resort, too, as it's built into a steep, river valley hillside. Other than the bats at the cave, we didn't see much wildlife. There are a nice assortment of birds attracted to this resort area, however, and the morning serenade is lovely. They do have a small snack hut but the prices reflect that you are quite some distance from any competition. We all enjoyed our stay and do plan to return another time.

Hotel environment itself is awesome with relaxing atmosphere. Unfortunately, 4 big-bike guests next door were annoying, making loud noise and drinking until next morning. Because of poor soundproofing, I needed to put my earplugs in all night otherwise I was unable to sleep at all. I wish I could just chill and take some fresh air on nice little balcony but they keep playing dance music and smoking in early morning. I ended up with checking out as soon as finishing my breakfast. My recommendation is to avoid wooden standard raft, go for deluxe one. It seems much nicer. stayed on 27 June 2020
