We visited Sabi River Sun in December 2020, having visited this resort last in 2008! We should never have stayed away for so long, considering this resort is still as lovely as it was back then! On both occasions we stayed in the hotel, as opposed to the self-catering chalets. Check-in was a pleasant, efficient process, with us having made full payment during the booking process online. This naturally sped up the check-in. There are a few Covid-19 related checks that take place, which is now normal for all hospitality establishments. Our room overlooked the kiddies playarea, with a view of the pool area too. The room (#220) was comfortable, but it does appear dated, in need of a slight refurb. We spent more time than we would normally in the room due to the rainy weather during our stay. Breakfast and dinner was equally excellent. We engaged with the chefs on duty at both sessions daily due to our Halaal requirements, which the chefs were aware of, and met! We were most impressed by this!!! Just a note - on our check-out, when settling the dinners for our daughter (dinners are included for adults), we noticed that someone else's receipt was also included in our bill. Upon querying this, we were presented with the receipts and highlighted the 1 that was not ours. I guess this can happen when the writing (room number, etc) is illegible. Not a trainsmash though! During the stay, we met with Malcolm (GM) and his team. This was excellent as we managed to engage on our visit experience, etc. All in all, a wonderful stay! We were very pleasantly surprised when we found ourselves in a house with a kitchen as we have a toddler granddaughter travelling with us and the executive room was very safe and this made it easy to sterilise bottles and prepare our own food. We went on an evening safari however our transport was late and we held up the safari crew leaving on time. When we returned from our safari we were offered a meal at spur to be delivered so we placed the order around 8.30 at night. Two hours later our meals had not arrived and we went to bed hungry and very unhappy. All the excuses under the sun were offered over these two hours. In the end we cancelled it as too late and upset to eat. Spur offered a free breakfast to make up for the calamity of the previous evening however as I booked the rate that included breakfast we declined. We placed your order for breakfast and it was delivered to the house as requested and it was beautiful. When we went to hand back the keys the lady said we needed to pay for the breakfast. I had to show her the rate that I booked included breakfast so I had already paid for it. We did not pay and I left unhappy and declared we would never be back. I would suggest better communication and never trust the local delivery people. Get yourself to the Safari gate there is parking there and get yourself dinner or make your own. The accommodations were excellent for us it was the local delivery people who really let us down. Also maybe book the rate that does not include breakfast then when they charge you for it it will be ok.FromTHB 1,637

Recommended villa hotel for fun in Kruger, especially for families. The house booked this time has three bedrooms, and it is not a problem to actually live for six people. We visited Sabi River Sun in December 2020, having visited this resort last in 2008! We should never have stayed away for so long, considering this resort is still as lovely as it was back then! On both occasions we stayed in the hotel, as opposed to the self-catering chalets. Check-in was a pleasant, efficient process, with us having made full payment during the booking process online. This naturally sped up the check-in. There are a few Covid-19 related checks that take place, which is now normal for all hospitality establishments. Our room overlooked the kiddies playarea, with a view of the pool area too. The room (#220) was comfortable, but it does appear dated, in need of a slight refurb. We spent more time than we would normally in the room due to the rainy weather during our stay. Breakfast and dinner was equally excellent. We engaged with the chefs on duty at both sessions daily due to our Halaal requirements, which the chefs were aware of, and met! We were most impressed by this!!! Just a note - on our check-out, when settling the dinners for our daughter (dinners are included for adults), we noticed that someone else's receipt was also included in our bill. Upon querying this, we were presented with the receipts and highlighted the 1 that was not ours. I guess this can happen when the writing (room number, etc) is illegible. Not a trainsmash though! During the stay, we met with Malcolm (GM) and his team. This was excellent as we managed to engage on our visit experience, etc. All in all, a wonderful stay! We were very pleasantly surprised when we found ourselves in a house with a kitchen as we have a toddler granddaughter travelling with us and the executive room was very safe and this made it easy to sterilise bottles and prepare our own food. We went on an evening safari however our transport was late and we held up the safari crew leaving on time. When we returned from our safari we were offered a meal at spur to be delivered so we placed the order around 8.30 at night. Two hours later our meals had not arrived and we went to bed hungry and very unhappy. All the excuses under the sun were offered over these two hours. In the end we cancelled it as too late and upset to eat. Spur offered a free breakfast to make up for the calamity of the previous evening however as I booked the rate that included breakfast we declined. We placed your order for breakfast and it was delivered to the house as requested and it was beautiful. When we went to hand back the keys the lady said we needed to pay for the breakfast. I had to show her the rate that I booked included breakfast so I had already paid for it. We did not pay and I left unhappy and declared we would never be back. I would suggest better communication and never trust the local delivery people. Get yourself to the Safari gate there is parking there and get yourself dinner or make your own. The accommodations were excellent for us it was the local delivery people who really let us down.
