If you visit Banff, you must stay at the Fairmont! It is a beautiful hotel that is more like a castle with a million-dollar view of the mountains around it. A nice perk is that all guests at the Fairmont receive free passes for the shuttles that get you around town, so need to worry about transportation. A great stay all by itself and surrounded by connection to all of the attractions close by: hiking trails, frozen lakes, glacier valleys, and of course the town of Banff itself.
- JoannChit
I think it is a good experience to stay in a castle. 😊 Overall, the staff are friendly and helpful. But, the room is considered small and one king size bed is smaller than other 5-star hotels in downtown. As the room price is not cheap, i would recommend to try for one night stay to experience it.

Beautiful hotel. Great location. 5-10 min walk from everything. We needed to clean the tea/coffee amenities and wipe down the table ourselves but no big deal. We booked a superior 2 queen room - all these types of room are all on the first floor. You should make sure to request facing inside, not outside towards the street. No view but it's quiet. Others complain about noise/privacy if facing the street on the 1st floor. One pool was closed for renovation and blocking some of the view from the roof.

Having visited Banff multiple times, this is always my go-to hotel when staying in town. It's located right on the main road into town, making parking and walking around incredibly convenient! In winter, a dip in the rooftop 'hot springs' is an absolute must – it's a unique experience.

The hot spring was fantastic, and the room was very clean. The hotel itself is new, and I hope the prices remain stable, as it feels like they're slowly increasing. Breakfast was just average; you need to book it in advance during peak season and on weekends.

Great room with plenty of space and a comfortable bed. The balcony offers a stunning mountain vista that feels incredibly open and airy. Bonus: the hot pool is included with the stay!👍

The hotel facilities are quite new, the environment is beautiful, and getting around is very convenient. The town's bus stop is right in front of the hotel, and you can ride the town's public transportation for free. The restaurant on the first floor of the hotel is highly recommended – it's fantastic! However, the hotel does not provide slippers, toothbrushes, or other toiletries, so you'll need to bring your own or buy them at the town's supermarket.

The Otter Hotel was amazing. 10/10 I would highly recommend staying here when staying in Banff. The rooms and bathroom are beautiful and kept clean. The staff are welcoming and they truly go above and beyond. Reece was particularly helpful with anything we needed. Thank you for the fantastic stay!

Overall pretty good, underground parking was rough with little space an terrible parkers. Unfortunately there’s nothing the hotel could do about people’s driving skills. I would recommend this hotel but get back early and walk if you can if you’d like to have a spot for your vehicle.

We stayed at Royal Canadian Lodge in Banff from March 26–29 with my 7-year-old daughter, and overall we had a great experience. Check-in was simple and straightforward. We arrived in the early evening, and Jason at the front desk was the most approachable and helpful hotel staff member I have ever dealt with. He remembered my daughter’s name, greeted her every day, checked in with us throughout our stay, and added little touches that made the trip feel extra special for both of us. The renovated room itself was fairly standard for a hotel room, but comfortable. Our room had two queen beds, which worked well for us. The bathroom had a shower only, with no bathtub, but that was not an issue. The pillows were big and lumpy, all 8 of the pillows in our room were too high/tall for my daughter to use comfortably. There are robes provided in the room, it would be a nice touch if they could also provide kids size robes. We had a mini fridge, coffee maker with coffee, and kettle with tea provided in the room. We ordered room service one night and tried the pulled pork poutine, which was the daily special from the restaurant. Unfortunately, it was not very good, and I would not recommend it. The TV included free cable and on-demand programming, as well as pay-per-view movies. I had brought my laptop and an HDMI cord, and we were able to connect it to the TV easily to watch our own movies. Watching on-demand, my daughter discovered The Simpsons and loved it (lol) The pool area was a big highlight for us. The pool is salt water rather than chlorine. The water itself was on the cooler side, but there was also a good-sized hot tub and a large steam room. My daughter quickly made friends with another family staying at the hotel, and the kids spent multiple hours a day in the pool together. The gym was small but functional. In the four days we were there, it was empty every time we walked by. Parking is $20 per day, which does add up. There is also free street parking behind the hotel if you are able to find a spot. One fun feature in the lobby was the robot, which the kids absolutely loved. We were told that after construction is complete, it will be delivering items to guest rooms. During our stay it moved around the lobby, told jokes, and handed out free apples. The hotel was reasonably priced compared with other options in the area. I chose it specifically for the pool setup, knowing we would be spending a lot of time there, and it worked out really well for that. Shops and restaurants on the main street were about a 10-minute walk away, or you could take the bus that stops outside the neighboring hotel for $2 per ride, with kids riding free. I would definitely stay here again in the future. The price, location, rooms, and pool make this a very family-friendly hotel option in Banff. Biggest thank you to Jason at the front desk for the spectacular service we enjoyed.

Superb! They said the hotel was under renovation and might be noisy when I checked in, but it wasn't noisy at all! Great, they even offer a wet sauna.

I recently traveled to Banff with six friends and stayed in a family room at the Moxy Hotel. Overall, it was a great experience! The room was spacious, with a youthful and vibrant design, perfect for friends or small groups. The atmosphere was great! 👍 However, one minor drawback was the lack of a door lock in the bathroom, which might be slightly inconvenient for larger groups. I hope the hotel can improve this in the future. Overall, it was a pleasant stay and I would recommend it to anyone traveling with friends!
- Fianee Chan
More modern and young hotel, the lobby is multi-functional to eat and drink, and it has its own pub atmosphere at night, but the waitress is obviously snubbing Asian guests and ordering things to make sloppy tasteless. Room facilities and hygiene are very good, breakfast is full and tastes good.

The room was really clean and the bed was comfortable. Wasn’t happy about the Spa as the sauna was not hot enough and the dial to increase the temperature didn’t work. The whirlpool was a nice temperature. The restaurant at the hotel was giving smaller portions but charging high prices. I ordered a large salad for dinner and got something comparable to a small salad. The waiter was impatient as he wanted to run over with the payment machine as soon as I had finished my salad and tea.
- Guest User
Nice hotel. Have to say though, when you open the door to your room, a bathtub, not in the bathroom should not be the 1st thing you see. People we interacted with were not the most friendly. Like ...ok what do you need. Also, not having a resturant where you could get coffee or breakfast was a bit of a pain. They did have a coffee pot in the room, but hey I always go to hotel rooms for my coffee

The rooms are well-spaced, and while each space isn't large, it's more than adequate. Even if you stay for more than a day, they won't come in to clean the apartment, but upon arrival, it was very clean. It's a cozy and comfortable little apartment, and I highly recommend it.

Hotel is a bit far from town but it provides free town shuttle. We booked the balcony room hoping to get a better view. We have rooms with big trees in front. When asked if we can change rooms, he won’t change since it’s not booked direct. The balcony room has little heat as the heater is smaller and the room is colder.

This hotel is conveniently located directly across from the Banff High School Transit Hub, which is the starting point for buses to Lake Louise, Johnston Canyon, the Banff Gondola, and all the major ski resorts. Plus, it's just a short walk to Banff's main commercial area. The only downside is that the soundproofing in the rooms isn't great. However, this is a common issue with most hotels in Banff due to their wooden construction.

Great hotel ! I have Stated here many times over the years! Furthermore the owners have made great improvement in the recent renovation. Good location but poor management (that’s why I have given it a low experience rating) Hotel bar has been closed for a while but not advertised when booking! This is a ski resort and we traveled as a large group (4 rooms) with mixed age group inc teens and kids so a hotel bar is critical for us! The fact that the main bar was closed and no apré ski drinks in the bar should have been advertised. Frankly I’m on holiday and without an operational / open bar I would have booked elsewhere! I was only informed via email after the free cancellation period was up which meant I loose money if I cancel and more so will be challenged to find elsewhere! I only found out after a email from hotel a few weeks before checking! When I challenged management via email, I was informed the bar area was moved to the restaurant, I said this is not acceptable and bar closure should have been advertised on booking … was told the above, and a sorry and subsequently ignored thereafter ! Not ideal as the restaurant is not a bar - more so it was pretty weird having drinks upstairs and more so when a few folk start to come up for dinner or the restaurant starts to set up for dinner buffet. Management did offer some of my party a credit, but not me and just ignored my concern.Shame really! I don’t want to take the good positive vide away from the hotel so would like to big up 1) reception staff- always great with a smile 2) house keeping - great job 3) restaurant staff - friendly and smiley (even though difficult trying to manage a so called bar and restaurant) in the same place 4) amazing refurbed pool

We did a little staycation in Banff from Calgary and overall had a great time. The cave pool was a big hit, but just a heads up that it’s not really a “swimming pool.” It’s more like a large cave-style hot tub. It’s shallow, and the water is fairly hot, so the kids couldn’t really swim or put their faces under the water. The cave setup is very cool though, and the adults really enjoyed it for relaxing. The dry sauna was also great. We stayed in a suite with two double beds, plus a living area with a sofa bed, a dining area, and a kitchenette. We were happy with the layout. The suite was clean, but it is definitely dated. One downside was the TVs. I know you don’t go to Banff to sit and watch TV, but it would be nice if they updated to smart TVs. If you’re traveling with kids, I’d suggest bringing a Fire Stick or Chromecast. Even an HDMI cable to connect a laptop would work, but make sure you download movies ahead of time because the Wi-Fi in our area was pretty spotty and the kids kept losing connection. The front desk staff were fantastic. Friendly, helpful, and efficient. They made parking easy, provided bus passes, and explained local info without us having to ask a bunch of questions. We’d stay here again, and next time we’ll definitely bring something for the TV so we can do an easy movie night after a busy day.

Got delayed in Vancouver and booked this last minute, so it was a leftover room, and a bit pricey. But it turned out to be a one-bedroom suite with a living room and a balcony, which was great. The room was really quiet. They have a self-service ice machine on the 2nd floor and a small hot spring bath on the 1st, both nice touches. Overall, it was good. Surprising cabin, we had a pleasant 2 nights here. The room was clean and tidy, the kitchen and living room were together, the bedroom was bigger than expected, and the bedding was very comfortable. There is heating, the fireplace can also be used, we asked the staff to help us make the fire. There are microwave ovens and induction cookers, simple kitchen utensils, we went to the supermarket to buy ingredients and made dinner by ourselves. In the evening, there was a deer eating grass on the lawn downstairs. The hotel has its own soup pool, which is very small, we are too tired to go soak. The staff is very welcoming and the old-fashioned door lock is not very easy to use.

They need assigned parking, otherwise you might end up having to park aways a way from your room. Also the walk way to our unit and stairway was all covered with snow and ice. It would’ve been nice if it was all cleaned before we got there. We had to ask the front desk three times before anything was done. Also we wanted to go into the hot tubs, but we were unable to. Due to there was way too much many people that were in there at the time. So we left for a couple hours and came back, thought ok let’s try again (hot tub). Once again unable to cause it was still packed with the same people. Other than that, everything was pretty good.

We had an incredible stay at Tunnel Mountain Resort in Banff. From the moment we checked in, the staff were welcoming, friendly, and genuinely eager to make our experience memorable. The property itself feels tucked away in the trees, offering peace and quiet while still being just a few minutes from downtown Banff. The room was spacious, clean, and cozy, with a rustic mountain vibe that fit perfectly with the surroundings. I especially loved the fireplace—it made evenings feel warm and relaxing after a day of exploring. The kitchenette was well-equipped, which was a nice bonus for preparing meals. The views from the resort are stunning. Waking up to the fresh mountain air and seeing the Rockies right outside my window was unforgettable. On-site amenities like the hot tub and pool added to the experience, especially after long hikes. What stood out most was the balance between comfort and nature. It felt like having a private cabin in the mountains but with all the convenience of a resort. I’d highly recommend Tunnel Mountain Resort for couples, families, or anyone wanting a true Banff escape. It’s the perfect mix of relaxation, comfort, and breathtaking scenery—I’m already looking forward to coming back!

The hotel is located in a very convenient location. It is just 5 mins walk to the Elk hotel / Mount hotel. The front desk Rose Ann was very helpful and introduced us about the things can be done in Banff and the awesome food nearby. The room is very clean. The house keeping managed our room very well. The hotel also has a corner that provided 24 hour coffee, tea and chocolate. My friend and I also enjoyed the hot spring for 2 nights. It has been a wonderful stay in the Peaks Hotel. It is a pleasant hotel with regular amenities. The beds are comfortable and the view out the windows is spectacular towards the Bow River. Unfortunately there was a shouting match between a couple from 1am-3:40am the second night as the walls do not muffle the sound as well as we would have liked. So very tired the next day or so, but the front desk said they have security on 24 hours and we should have called. Some of the items in the rooms are quaint and that's ok - they are small rooms, but we spent most of our time out in Banff or skiing, Overall they worked out.
