For the natural environment, this hotel is fine. It's located in the mountains. Chiang Kai-shek was a master at choosing locations.
However, there are so many things to complain about this hotel.
The hotel is very old, and the facilities are also outdated. The stairs lead up, and there's a strong damp smell. The rooms have elevators, but they're much better than the elevators. Speaking of the rooms, I usually book hotels in the top-rated local area. The bed in this hotel is incredible. Every time I turn over, the entire bed moves, which is very disruptive to sleep. How can a high-star hotel still use such old beds? The bedside light is broken and won't turn off. The hotel Wi-Fi is very poor and keeps cutting out. The bathroom is also old-fashioned. If you're not careful, the faucet will soak your hair. There's no sign of any help. We didn't use the hotel pool because of the weather. The hotel staff was very serious and didn't offer any relaxation.
Breakfast is not a buffet; it's a portion per person. The hotel provides a shuttle bus to the night market at the foot of the mountain. Six Young Master Seafood BBQ is decent, but the lobsters are a bit pricey, around NT$2,200 each, while further up the mountain, they're around NT$1,000 each.
