First, the positives. The room was very nice, and the small kitchenette was perfect. But then, checking in was a complete disaster. Without an access code (which I was not sent!!!), nothing works. There's no reception or anyone to help. I had to call a hotline in Zurich that only spoke English. There might be people renting a hotel in Berlin who don't speak English, you know! This definitely needs to be improved, especially since you're standing in front of a locked hotel door, with luggage, just glad to have arrived, and then no one can help... After they finally sent me the room code, I still couldn't get into the room. The code only activates precisely at 3 PM. So I had to stand in front of the room for 30 minutes and wait, even though the room was ready. The room wasn't cleaned for 4 days, and the towels weren't changed. Also, check-out is disproportionately early. The room has to be vacated by 10 AM. The cleaning lady already knocked just before 10 AM. I think that's far too early. In short – the rooms are very nice, the location (5 minutes from Alexanderplatz) is great, but the service is a catastrophe...

Location is amazing, the check-in was a bit confusing but after calling with customer care all was solved, for some reason I haven't received the login code and it was not really clear that the accesscode downstairs was also the accesscode to the rooms.
My room was close to the street, and it was very loud due to heavy traffic, which gave me a bad sleep.
Windows had to be open because of the heat outside, and missing airconditioning. Ventilation was provided by Vission appartments but it was not strong enough to really get a cool room.

The hotel is on the roadside, 8 minutes walk from the subway station, very convenient. I booked a double bed with another girl, but both beds were very small, and they were put together. It was not comfortable. Breakfast was monotonous.

The hotel facilities are good, but I'm quite dissatisfied with one thing. Our flight landed at 10:55 PM, so we expected to check in past midnight. Fearing the hotel wouldn't hold our rooms (I'd heard stories of German hotels not holding rooms past midnight), I specifically made an international call from Shanghai to the front desk. I explained the situation and asked them to hold our rooms. They confirmed they understood and said someone would be there to check us in after midnight. Still feeling uneasy, I contacted Ctrip customer service and asked them to follow up with the hotel. Ctrip later confirmed they had arranged a pre-check-in for us. I thought we had double assurance. However, when we arrived after midnight, the front desk told us they only had one room available, even though I had booked two rooms for two nights. They suggested we stay at a nearby hotel for the first night and then move here on the second day. I had already looked at that hotel, and the environment was significantly worse. Plus, as a family of three staying for two nights, I didn't want the hassle of checking out and checking back in the next day. I firmly refused. There were other Asian guests checking in after us, so it was impossible that there were no rooms at all. Eventually, they gave us a room at the very end of the hallway. German hotel service can be so unreliable! I'm angry.FromUS$123

Let's start with the positives: The location is excellent, right next to the U2 subway station and very close to the U6. If you have the Berlin WelcomeCard, getting around by subway and bus is super convenient and saves you a lot of walking. There's a Rewe supermarket across the street with a great selection of food, and their salad bar and hot food counter are both excellent.
Now for the negatives: The staff were arrogant and rude. I waited in line to check in for almost 20 minutes when a white man just walked up and stood next to the queue, not bothering to line up. After the person in front of me finished, I walked up to the front desk with him. He said the balding male staff member at the desk had called him over. I told the male receptionist that everyone was queuing and should be served in order, but he insisted he had called that specific white man. At this point, another front desk was free, so I didn't argue and moved to that one. This is where it got even more interesting. When I tried to pay the deposit in cash, the female receptionist said they don't accept cash. Isn't it illegal in any country to refuse legal tender? And who says everyone has a credit card? I didn't want any trouble, so I pulled out my credit card, but for some reason, it wouldn't go through. Finally, this female receptionist said her colleague could accept cash, and indeed, the colleague came over and took the money. But if I hadn't asked, they wouldn't have even given me a receipt.
For a hotel costing over 2,000 euros a night, they don't provide bottled water unless you're a Hilton Silver member or higher. The coffee is also terrible instant coffee, the worst among the four hotels I stayed at on this Europe trip. The facilities are old but reasonably well-maintained. In short, besides the location, there are no redeeming qualities.FromUS$141

Excellent hotel! My flight landed very early, so I arrived at the hotel before 9 am. I expected to just drop off my luggage and check in later in the afternoon, but they let me check in right away.

I stayed one night at A&O Berlin Mitte during a solo trip, and once again, it proved to be my favorite place in Berlin. I chose a twin room and was really impressed: the room was spacious, clean, modern, and very comfortable.
It's not a luxury hotel, but it offers everything you need for a pleasant stay, with excellent value for money. The facilities are welcoming, the staff is helpful, and the location is convenient for getting around the city.

Overall, I had a great stay! We visited when the weather was super hot, so having air conditioning in the room was a real lifesaver and a huge plus. The cleanliness was average but acceptable. The only minor downside was the sensor light in the bathroom; it would suddenly turn off in the middle of a shower, and I'd have to step out to reactivate it. We also had a small incident where someone randomly knocked on our door, but ignoring them worked out fine. All in all, it was still a great experience!FromUS$16

The biggest advantage of this hostel is its location. Alexanderplatz is incredibly convenient for travelers, with many key attractions within walking distance. There's direct public transport to the main train station and the airport.
A distinctive feature of this hostel is the large number of young teenagers, giving it a summer camp vibe with groups of young people everywhere. The common area is on the ground floor, featuring a pool table and shuffleboard. They offer a paid breakfast in the morning and have a small, lively bar in the evening.
The room itself is standard, with a sink inside.
The toilets and showers are acceptable. One of the toilet doors was a bit broken but still usable. Hand soap is provided, but there's no shower gel or shampoo.

A really nice and clean hotel with well-appointed rooms, and the small kitchenette with a fridge is a perfect addition.
The location right near Checkpoint Charlie is superb. There are small cafes around, as well as McDonald's and KFC where you can eat relatively cheaply.
The room cleaning wasn't great because we seemed to always be in the room at the wrong time. The one time out of three days that the room was cleaned, the trash cans unfortunately weren't emptied.FromUS$100

Overall, I enjoyed my stay. The service was fantastic. My only criticism is that while the hotel is a bit older, it could definitely use some modernization. I found it odd that there were no lamps in the room; that's not really appropriate for a 4-star hotel. I ended up using a lampshade as a light source.
