We tried different accommodations in Zagreb, but we liked the newly opened art'otel Zagreb the best. It has a great, enveloping atmosphere, also thanks to the friendliness, competence and presence of the staff. A successful design concept - a sophisticated mix of design and art - consistently runs through the entire hotel. Also the rooms and bathrooms (!). Simply great! The rich and fresh breakfast buffet, supplemented by an extra menu, is well prepared and really delicious. For relaxation there is a spa area with sauna and pool (which we used several times) and the bar. Everything is super clean and well maintained. Coming soon there will also be a promising restaurant and a rooftop bar with views of Zagreb. We're already looking forward to the next time!

The hotel is not bad, no photos of the hotel, only the surrounding area. The breakfast is pure Western style. The room was small and could not accommodate an extra bed. Our child was 10 years old and it was not bad to stay overnight. There is a fountain square about 200 meters out of the hotel location, and it will be very comfortable to sit in the evening. There is also an Asian restaurant. After spending half a month in Croatia, we came back and had an authentic Chinese meal in this restaurant.

Good location close to the main square and large shady park. It's a very busy street but this room was on the back side and quiet, they may not even have any rooms on the street side. This was a private room with a double bed and shared bath. Shared bath was small where the sink is but shower is roomy. Always was clean, and shared by only a couple of rooms. Didn't see the dorm rooms. There are also private rooms with private bath offered. At the time of this visit an organized breakfast wasn't offered but cold cereal and fruit was available 24/7 in the common kitchen, and instant coffee 24/7. The espresso machine required a staff member to operate and the desk isn't staffed except during the day generally. There's a sitting area with couch and chair and a dining area with tables and chairs. There was no air conditioner in this room and it was unusually hot in Zagreb during the stay. At night with the windows open it was comfortable, but very warm otherwise in the room during the day. Very nice owners.

We were so looking forward to spending our last night in Croatia at this historic hotel. Upon arrival, we were greeted right away by the concierge, who took our bags and shown to a seat for checking in. Surprisingly, the young girl at reception was abrupt and indifferent, while we did notice that all the other reception clerks were engaged and friendly. We had booked a Superior King Room, and requested an upper floor with a view, but were disappointed to be given a 2nd floor interior room. That said, we certainly understand that not all room requests can be accommodated and the room was quite lovely. Unfortunately, however, there was a wedding reception in the hotel's ballroom that evening, which our room overlooked, and the dance music continued into the early hours of the morning, 3:30am. Other than getting very little sleep that night the room was beautiful, with a large washroom, and a king bed with comfortable pillows. We appreciated the thoughtful addition of glasses (beer, champagne and wine) and a corkscrew. The location was perfect for visiting the charming old town of Zagreb, and we enjoyed a drink at the bar as well as coffee on the lovely terrace the following morning. We didn't have time for breakfast, but it looked wonderful. Our checkout was a much more pleasant experience, with a very friendly reception clerk. I would recommend to anyone wishing to stay at this hotel to ask about events booked in the ballroom, or to insist on an outside view room. Note that we stayed on a Saturday, which would typically be the night for wedding receptions.

The breakfast is simple but more attentive, and the location is excellent. The front entrance of the hotel is the commercial center, and the back entrance is not more than 5 minutes' walk up the mountain to reach the old town. There is a free parking lot, and the service is superb, helping iron the clothes for free. Great choice in Zagreb.

Everything was excellent. Friendly, warm, and receptive staff. From the front desk to the restaurant. The location is central which was perfect because you can get anywhere in under 30 minutes. The only thing I would warn about is the noise from events that may be held. To be fair, the hotel warned me ahead of time and gave me earplugs. But, the loudness was really unbearable. I worked in nightlife for 10+ years in NYC and it felt like I was sleeping on a lounge chair in front of the DJ booth. So, if you need peace and quiet make sure to ask them ahead of time if there will be an event and to put you in a quiet room away from the sound. But, other than that everything was 5/5. I would stay here again. **One of the only restaurants open in Zagreb during my stay due to COVID. This was a +

Me and my friend had traveled to Zagreb from Budapest and once we checked into our room I was notified of an AirTag tracking us the whole journey and was pretty accurately at our location. After thoroughly searching through our bags and not finding any AirTags, we approached the reception desk where we explained the situation to the man at the desk. I have never felt such condescension and lack of compassion when speak to someone about a worry of personal safety. We mentioned that another member of the hostel had checked in just before us that we believed was on the same route and us and perhaps he had his own AirTag to track his belongings. To eliminate all possibilities, we asked the receptionist to contact this person on our behalf to confirm if this was the case. The receptionist seemed dismissive that this was something to worry about and therefor reluctant to contact said person. However after some us reiterating our worries for safety, he finally gave in to contact the person however made to effort to take details from us to contact and updated us on the outcome of the situation, however I left my email and asked if I could be updated though it has been a good few days since the incident and have received nothing. To make matters worse later in the evening, we could hear this reception worker mocking us and the situation to someone else hanging about the reception area. To conclude, the hostel itself wasn’t too bad - the beds were okay and seemed clean enough, bathrooms were nothing special. The building itself is also in a bit of a sketchy building with no working lift and not much lighting - the building is actually quite difficult to find in fact. Wouldn’t recommend.

The name “Central Hotel” is a bit misleading because the city center is not nearby. It’s perhaps walkable, but the street to the center is not inviting for a stroll. The hotel is across the street from the train station, and next to a city park which looked lovely. The front desk staff recommended a restaurant nearby which was delicious. Our room was oddly configured, with a twin bed at opposite sides of the room reminiscent of a dorm room.

What began as a suspiciously underpriced, gorgeously designed, epicentrically located property with heart and smiles for days...turned into a psychotic, abusive nightmare, like something straight out of Rosemary’s Baby. Never in all my days, in all the hundreds of properties and thousands of nights in everything from backpacker hostels to five-star suites, have I been subjected not simply to bad service (fixable) but outright and unrepentant hostility, harassment and torment by the staff. Unbelievable. As the gentleman and professional many know me to be, I in good faith detailed the infractions, called for a GM meeting, recommended simple solutions, had multiple follow-up meetings, and presumed the offending micro-tyrants would be disciplined and neutralized. They weren’t. It only got worse. And worse still. Think, stalking, door slamming, man-handling my iPad (verboten), shorting guest change when paying by cash in the bar (witnessed multiple times), having aggressive security called for eating in an otherwise public area five minutes beyond a theretofore unknown “rule,” asking me repeated and pointedly “how long I would be staying...” you get the idea. So, in the end, I cancelled two weeks of reservations (which would have been expanded to 6+) and protested with my feet. I left. A day out and I STILL feel emotionally winded, unsure of what I just witnessed. All I know is that if my behavior to a client or guest even approached this, I’d be – and should be – terminated on the spot. This was not the decision of management. But maybe it’s me. Maybe this is Croatia’s version of adventure travel. Not enough to make me fall out of love with Zagreb...but close. Interesting world.

Tho' officially 4Star, the service here is clear 5*. Have stayed at 5Star hotels, always pretty ... but staff too often more interested in the high profile clientele. At Hotel Capital, we were treated like well-loved family members... and our evening meals were delicious and lovingly delivered with custom wine choices for every course. Truly memorable! By the way ... the bed was VERY comfy... with several pillow choices, too! All this aside from the fact that its location is only a couple of blocks from the heart of the city... shopping, tourism, and restaurants galore!

We stayed here as part of a tour group and the fact is, it was unsuitable. Small reception area, one lift, a breakfast area of a size that just couldn't cope and breakfast to match and no restaurant. The rooms were comfortable, albeit, not particularly large, the shower, awkward, the air con, cold and one night was enough. The good points were that there was a bar next door and a couple of restaurants nearby, within a couple of hundred metres. The hotel was about 4 kms out of the city, but well serviced by public transport

Stayed for 3 nights in room 8. The hostel is towards the north-west end of Zagreb centre and about a 20 minute walk from the train station. You could take a tram as well. I thought the hostel was difficult to find, unless you happen to see the sign on the side wall. The entrance from the main street leads to a courtyard and the hostel building is at the end of a courtyard. A sign on the street facing wall would've been more visible. Check in was straightforward and the staff took me to the room after the formalities of paying the city tourist tax. The room was located in a basement, via the kitchen and common area. The kitchen had a microwave, cooker and utensils. The room had two bunks opposite each other, a private bathroom, lockers, two small chairs and a low table. Lockers were provided, but you'll need your own padlock. The floor was bare concrete. The bathroom had a walk-in shower, toilet and sink. Both the room and bathroom were nicely cleaned everyday. The room had a window which opened up to the courtyard, at pedestrian level. As the hostel has a bar and it's close to the street, it can get noisy. The bunk bed was sturdy and barely felt my bunkmate. The mattress was the foam type, which I thought was maybe upside down as the ridges were facing up. To be honest, I thought the mattress was too thin. I could feel the wooden frame underneath. The WiFi could be inconsistent in the room, but works better in the common areas. Location wise, the hostel is to the west of the main sights, but within easy walking distance. The hostel does provide a separately paid for breakfast and even a free coffee machine, but there's plenty of bakeries and cafes around. Overall, I had a comfortable stay. The staff are okay, facilities good and the location was within reasonable walking distance from everything

Jadran is centrally located so walking to many restaurants and sites is practical. Also, the tram system runs by the front door and stops are close by. Rooms are OK, clean and relatively convenient. The elevator is ancient and slow. If someone fails to close the door completely, your room is converted to a 5th floor walk up until the situation is corrected. Breakfast is adequate but not really worth its cost. The staff is friendly and helpful. Limited parking is available on premises and essential if you are driving.

Found this place on *********** and what a find! The room was clean and very comfortable with lots of nice touches like toothbrushes and toiletries. The soundproofing was good enough to muffle the trams that run all night through the central square outside the windows. There’s a minibar if you need it. Breakfast is excellent prepared by the wonderful Vlasta who spoke perfect English and was very helpful and friendly. Her advice on what to see in Zagreb and how to deal with Croatian trains was invaluable. She warned us that the train to and from Split is often late or cancelled so we changed our plans to return a day early from the Dalmatian coast. Luckily she was able to reserve the same room for us to stop overnight again in Zagreb. The second stay was as good as the first.

It is located a bit far from the city centre but short tram ride, situated in a very good area, near one of the main bus stations there, also in the area there are many small places where you can find variety of food. Breakfast was basic but enough choices between ham, cheese, sausage, eggs, salad, bread .... Room was simple, good free WiFi, no AC nor fridge People there are so friendly, smiling and helping. Special thanks to Leon, Josipa and the other lady at the reception (forgive me, can't recall her name) who really made our stay unforgettable

The hotel is located in the south of the city center, about 15-20 minutes walk to the Christmas market. Except for a DM next to it, there is nothing to shop around. The room facilities are relatively new, the breakfast is not bad, and the price is great! There is also a car rental company near the hotel. It's hard to write an honest review of this hotel because there's not really any fault with it in itself... BUT... it is VERY remote right at the top of a mountain about 10 miles outside of the city and it takes at least an hour to get back and forth along a very narrow winding road so, if like us, you were thinking of staying here and popping back and forth, think again. The hotel is really a ski hotel and geared mainly to accommodate the small ski resort nearby therfore the season it caters for is winter. This wasn't clear at the time of booking so when we arrived at the end of the summer (September) the pool was closed for cleaning, there was no drinking water due to seasonal maintenence and other services closed or limited etc. Having booked to stay the week we cancelled our booking and only stayed the one night. Bottom line is it's a nice, clean hotel and the staff were all very friendly but it wasn't what we we're led to believe at the time of booking, hence writing this review in the hope that it stops other travellers being misled.

I recommend this hotel as it is very well placed to wander around Zagreb. It is clean, very good breakfast and the staff not just friendly but very helpful. When you have had a wonderful holiday it is always easy to write a good review but my review is based upon yes a lovely holiday but it had to be cut short by five days - I got quite ill and had to return to London. The response by staff could not have been better or more kind. Not only did they help me get organised to leave but they also waived the cost of the 5 days. They did not have to do this but chose to help and support me. So I cannot speak more highly of this Hotel and its staff. And thank them so very much for making this difficult time more manageable fr me. So this review in not simple about the physical attributes of this very well placed hotel but evolves from the leadership and priorities of the Hotel and staff to fundamentally serve its customers. Many thanks

The rooms are very nice and the location is perfect as it is close to the city but at the same time in a very calm place. In the morning you can have a very nice breakfast and in the evening you can enjoy the best pizza in the restaurant and a cold drink, served by the friendliest guys that actually like talking to you and have good sense of humor too! If you go to Zagreb - stay at this hotel! You will not reget it!

The hotel was ok but we were not happy with the dishonesty of the housekeeping. My friends left behind an envelope with money which was meant to pay our tour operator on the table in their room. They remembered half an hour later after we left the hotel. Our guide called the hotel but they said it is no envelope to be found. The envelope contained EUR 430 and it had names and amount written on it. It is also bulky so it is not possible for housekeeping to miss it or for them to think that the envelope is for them. We only stayed there a night and it is improbable that anyone would leave a tip that is much more than the cost of the hotel stay. I hope this serves as a warning to potential guests that they be wary of dishonest housekeeping in that hotel.

Center is 10 min away walking , yet you are in very quiet area you can have a great sleep, breakfast included and to not forget you have mini spa. Everyday you just need to let them know before going out if you need any extra towels or sheets , it would be done in a giff, for the price I recommend this place to anyone.

I don’t understand why this hostel has 8.7 points. 1) Internet is atrocious it doesn’t working in almost all places, specially in the rooms. 2) common areas are small and not comfortable (kitchen, tv room, dinner table). 3) front of the hostel there are bars with loud music so it isn’t possible rest well. 4) Nobody respect rules about Covid situation. The Staff wears the mask near the neck. 5) AC doesn’t work 6) A little and dirty fridge 8) the mattresses are uncomfortable. ****** the following point was the most impressive thing I have seen in a hostel ******* 9) One guy kind of manager of the hostel is very aggressive, disrespectful and not friendly. I saw him almost hit a customer (old man 70 years old, motive problem: one cigarette) and he took him out of the hostel at 01:00 am. This guy attends to the customers almost all day stoned, you don’t know if you are safe in this place. He always is threatening you If he don’t agree with your opinion. I paid two days and Him cancelled me the booking. Also, he wrote in booking.com I didn’t stay in the hostel. Additionally, My experience with this guy was scared as I saw the problem with the customer night before, Next morning he got in my room and he took me out of the hostel. He threatened me saying: I would call friends and them would take you out from here. I don’t recommend this hostel and my tip for all of you try to avoid it for your own security. I really lived very bad experience when I was in Croatia and I think this kind of hostel won’t be appear in TripAdvisor, booking.com, etc.

But we looked for it according to the order address and was told that it was in a house facing the street, and then the luggage moved downstairs, but the landlord said that she contacted the agent but there was no reply and no contact information for us. After staying for two days, there was no service, and the bathroom towels in the room were not cleaned at all! When I took my children to the swimming pool, the waiter's attitude was extremely bad. He was only targeting Chinese people. There were a whole room of people in the room. He insisted that we speak loudly and specially recorded a video. Our voices were not ours at all. It was extremely outrageous! It feels a bit racist towards the Chinese! Not satisfied with the service here! A video of the swimming pool is provided so that everyone can see why we were so noisy. The massage SPA is arranged next to the swimming pool. It is not a bath, so how can there be no sound! When checking in, you can write a clear statement stating that children are not allowed to stay and no sound is allowed while swimming! It's so ridiculous. There was basically no sound from our child in this video. When the waiter came in, he came straight to us and asked us to remind the child to keep it down, but we didn't make any noise at all! Time and time again! This is the worst hotel experience! Service: Almost no service, no replacement of towels, no cleaning Health: Not bad Environment: To be honest, the environment is OK Facilities: OK

We stayed at this hotel last year, and we give it five stars... It was absolutely outstanding... However, this year we stayed there twice and the second time it wasn't the greatest We arrive to the hotel 15 minutes before 3 PM and they actually made us wait till 3 PM to give us the key to the room... my wife and the two year-old were sitting in the car in front of the hotel waiting for 15 minutes which I think is pretty unreasonable... the girl that (Josipa I believe) was checking us in was trying to call I believe housekeeping to see if the room is ready, but they refused to tell her so she had no choice but to make us wait... She really tried everything to get us in as soon as possible When we made the booking for this room requested some extra towels... When we got to the room they were definitely extra towels, but they were real tiny towels... We went downstairs and asked for a couple of big normal size towels, and they only gave us one saying that they ran out of big towels Which I also think is ridiculous... Hopefully next year they earn their five stars back...

The atmosphere in the hostel, it has a CBD bar annexed that has a super relaxed vibe and the staff from both the hostel and the bar are very welcoming, specially the recepcionist Eva, who went beyond her reach to help me solve some problems and doubts I had when I arrived in the city. I had an amazing stay there, I would reccomend it to anybody.

Hotel is near the tram station. Beds are perfect to sleep (not too soft). You also don't really hear traffic at night and the curtains are enought thick, so that its full dark.. And the breakfast is also perfect. Various food and drinks... Maybe few more tables woold be good. Free parking. 9/10

From even before the moment I arrived at this property, I was well looked after. Transfer from the airport to hotel was taken care of and perfect. Check in easy. View lovely. Housekeeping accommodating. Wonderful Malin+Goetz products, along with bedside lavender balm. And the pillows! Evening service (water and a chocolate) delivered with a smile. Restaurant and bar staff so lovely and all with great memories of what you had and may want again. Room service timely. Everyone here has a welcoming smile. This hotel also benefits from a great location. Fitness/pool with perfect early-morning and late-day hours (until 10:30) are a big help to guests who are busy during business hours. Have felt well looked after and will return.

Small boutique type hotel. Room was clean, bathrooms very nice, bed comfortable. We enjoyed the small hotel as compared to the large chains. Very quiet for being in the city, nice little private outdoor patio. The young lady that worked that night was so helpful. We arrived later in the evening after driving in from Dubrovnik. She ordered food for us and even served it to us heated up and on plates. She kept us provided with drinks and went out of her way to be an amazing hostess. Refused any tips we offered. There are several sets of stairs , but very manageable. We had a very early flight, but they still offered to make us breakfast. Breakfast area is beautiful.
