I have mixed reviews about this place. We visited from out of town and wanted to see all the historic aspects of Philly. The location for this hotel is perfect walking distance to most historic sites which we enjoyed! However, upon check in, we received a room with a window next to a busy street and fire station. It was so loud all the time on the second floor ( room 206) and at night and morning due to buses and emergency vehicles leaving. Bring earplugs! We immediately noticed this when we entered the room and put our stuff down and called the front desk but they would not change our room due to it being sold out. I’m don’t believe it. Had our room had bugs or bed bugs, they would have switched us immediately. The walls are pretty thin too and we had some loud neighbors with music and tv blasting at the beginning. The hotel promptly came up and took care of that for us. There is no complimentary breakfast which I knew about but figured we’d find a cafe close each morning and grab something. Don’t rely on that! There are no cafes close. The last thing I want to think about is finding breakfast after I get ready. The buffet breakfast was decent but $20 a person. And one waffle a la carte was $14. With a family, that’s just too expensive for a 4 night stay. They did have a grab and go section for small cereals but nothing filling. I enjoyed that the hotel had a parking garage but wow $44 a day!!! That’s crazy! There were very limited hotels in the city that have parking so I choose a hotel with parking and close to historic sites versus one that didn’t include breakfast. But honestly, if I had to choose again, I’d spend more money and make sure my hotel included breakfast, parking, and wasn’t close to any emergency hubs. The hotel rooms is not very updated but the lobby is. Popcorn ceilings in rooms. The tvs are just cable and not updated smart tvs. The only light in the small bathroom is the warm yellow light around the mirror. Beds were comfy. Take your money elsewhere and enjoy upgraded amenities and services.

My daughter, dog, and I recently returned from a trip to Philly. We chose the Hotel Monaco because it was conveniently located right next to Independence Hall and because it's pet friendly. I shot an e-mail to the concierge regarding some concerns I had (my daughter has special needs). Rashid, the concierge, went above and beyond to make our trip the most memorable vacation to-date. The rooms are clean, you can't find a better location, the staff is lovely and accommodating, the hotel is gorgeous, and the concierge is one in a million. By the end of our trip, he was like family. There's no doubt in my mind that Hotel Monaco is OUR hotel for every future stay. My family was worried to see their daughter and granddaughter go alone so far away. Rashid made sure we had a safe and enjoyable experience from the moment our plane touched down, and my parents felt so much better knowing there were people in town watching out for us. Invaluable! I'll be telling the story of this trip for the rest of my life and Rashid will be the Right Hand Man in my story who made our trip so memorable. I can never repay the kindness and care he gave us, but I hope this review will make him smile. The Hotel Monaco has changed my perception of what a hotel should be, and I have to say, I'm spoiled and dying to return!

The main entrance is like the locked password door at the gate of the community. I searched for a long time and didn’t find other doors. Finally, I found that this door was opened without locking... The front desk was quite cold, even the room card was self-service. The room is the same studio room type as the regular apartment. The room includes kitchen laundry and everything. It’s good.

We booked the Notary for a Presidents Day weekend trip to Philly. We primarily booked it for its perfect location in Center City, easily walkable to the Independence Hall area, though walking to the museum areas might be a stretch for some. The hotel is across the street from City Hall, and you can walk around and view some of the outdoor artwork that Philly is known for. The lobby is gorgeous. Check-in on the Bonvoy app was easy, and we used our phones as keys for the room. They are in the process of modernizing their elevators, so it would take some time to get down to the ground floor from our room, between waiting and then stopping on almost every floor on the way down. The room was clean, comfortable and well appointed. The window looking out to the city was a little small, but totally understandable considering the building is on the register of historic places. The restaurant could use some work, primarily with staffing. We called down to ask how long a wait for a table would be, and were told no wait. However, when we got to the restaurant, we were told they were only taking diners with reservations, no walkups. Luckily, when we told them of the phone call, they did seat us after a 20-30 minute wait. Our waitress made it very clear that they were understaffed and she was overworked. The food was okay, drinks were better. Breakfast seemed to be staffed more appropriately, and again the food was okay. You're probably better off looking at the many restaurants around Center City (or uber to Dante's & Luigi's like we did on our second night). Valet also seemed understaffed, though they were up front about the expected wait once we called down for our car (20-30 mins). Overall, very nice hotel, could use some help with staffing restaurant. Would stay here again.

Friendly staff, clean room... contemporary design in the room, but the bathroom felt a little dated to me. Nicely decorated, but definitely saw clues of where the building and room was on the older side... for example, we had 4 ppl staying in the room, but there was no place to hang used bath towels in the bathroom... so we hung towels in the closet on hangers. Weird right? The hotel was generally nice, but a few quirks kinda got under my skin. First, we did self parking and while there is a garage in the building (convenient) the signage for where to park is vague at best. Eventually we found an employee who told us we could park on the first floor (closest to street) - but in spots marked as ”reserved”... of course this happened after we drove all the way to the bottom of the garage, looking for ”Westin guests park here” signs. Secondly, we were there on a long weekend and wanted to do some sightseeing. It was a healthy 15-20 min walk to the Reading Terminal Market (a comfortable walk around/through City Hall), and we had to drive to Chinatown. On this particular trip to Philly we didn't visit Independence Hall, but that isn't close either. Nice place, but there are definitely more convenient hotels for tourists.

Excellent stay at the Double Tree Hotel. Just stayed for one night and paid a little more to have a room on the 23rd floor. Had a beautiful view of City Hall. Parking was self park and $38 in the garage next door. However a nice perk is you get parking privileges until 11:59pm on the day of check out. So if you have a few more hours to explore Philly you can just leave your car in the garage. Room was very clean, bright and the staff were friendly. King size bed was comfortable. Overall very satisfied

I was deciding between 2 and 3 stars but he bed is comfortable and the gym is nice. Breakfast is your average type. My room was pretty clean minus something blackish on the tub wall. My air conditioner soaked the carpet, my iron did not work and I had no hangers. They did bring me them pretty prompt when I asked. My colleague came in at 9pm and there was some confusion whether she booked 2 rooms. At midnight, someone from the desk called her to ask her if she booked 2 rooms. At Midnight!. Walls seem a little thin as I could hear lots of noise in the hallway and the people walking upstairs. I wouldn't stay again.

We normally stay at Airbnbs, but there wasn’t one close to center city that was within our budget or worth our time. So we stayed here and weren’t disappointed. The staff was really friendly and helpful. Our room had a window that faced the wall of an adjacent building, but this was a plus because we’re from a rural area and didn’t have to deal with light pollution or city noise. Plus, it kept the room really dark. The bed was very comfortable and there were plenty of fluffy pillows. Now….cleanliness. The room was really clean and no sign of bedbugs or other insects. There were some stains on the floor and a few cigarette burns, but nothing major. I always bring my black light to check the toilet and shower cleanliness, not to mention the furniture for…bodily fluids. All I can say is that they get an A+ for not leaving the previous guests DNA plastered about.

The location is awesome. Easy to get to and from the major attraction in the city. i was there for the Penn Relays and it was a great, easy scenic 1.5 mile walk to and from each day. Got my exercise while seeing the city from on foot. Best of all on my walks this was how i decided where I would eat breakfast and dinner. So I was able to try something different each day. i was a little tempted to try Ruth Chris but I did not :(. The train ride to and from the airport was quick, easy directions to follow and though not the most scenic ride on the train, seeing the steel and stuff looks industrial America. I likes!! I did try one of the take out Chinese food spots ..oh man.. that was colorful to say the least...Bring Your Own Bag!! What an experience that was.. I guess its a city thing. The room was nice. I got real comfy real fast. The bed was super comfy and the view reminded me of my college days in NY. Just watching cars go by and at night with the lights reflecting off the windows creating various patterns. My only challenge was the TV... can you believe after all that good stuff my issue was the TV!? Just the hardest thing to navigate. maybe its cause I dont watch enough TV. :).

Booked a 1 king room here while here on business. I booked through Hotwire since I didn't care what hotel I got, as long as it was walking distance from my meetings. I'm glad I got this hotel! It's not too far from public transit, but you will have to walk more than a few blocks. In the HOT August heat, it was a bit of a bear with a rolling bag. This place is close to EVERYTHING and in a very nice area of Philly near Rittenhouse Square without being in the ”middle” of the craziness. I ended up getting in earlier than I thought, but to my surprise, they already had my room ready several hours early. Score! The hotel is old and you can tell, BUT the modern decor, the upgraded furniture and amenities didn't make it feel ”old”. This is truly a boutique hotel. The room was pretty clean and spacious enough for being in downtown Philly. The decor was very splashy with a local feel. It had all the modern amenities and wifi was usually pretty good. The bed was comfy with plush linens and plenty of pillows. There was a decent amount of storage for my things. Everything was in good working order. The bathroom was clean with a decent amount of counter space. I appreciated the upgraded amenities. The view was just ok, facing tall buildings, but I didn't book it for the view. Even though this was in the middle of downtown, it was very quiet inside. The concierge was very helpful in understanding the area and gave great suggestions. The Schuylkill trail is easy walking distance from the hotel and the overall area felt very safe. I did see quite a bit of homeless people sleeping on the trail however, but they weren't bothering anyone. Checking out was painless and quick. I'd definitely stay here again when in Philly!

Checked in late Christmas night. Everyone at the desk area was super nice, and helpful with any of my questions or needs. My room was clean and everything I expect from this brand. I would guess this hotel will going to update their bathrooms soon to the modern showers, but mine was perfectly fine. Can't beat the location. Walking distance to anything you need to see, buy, or eat. The indoor market next door is the highlight, and an absolute must see. I was politely and quickly moved to a different room on my last night, to further myself from a non stop barking dog. We chose this hotel because it offered breakfast and the others in the area did not. I am so glad we went with Holiday Inn Exprs Penns Landing! There breakfast was hot and wonderful. Best breakfast in a hotel hands down! It was walking distance to most all historical sites. I was worrying because it seemed on the map a bit farther out than other options and I am totally out of shape. I am probably in the heaviest ten percent of the population (morbidly obese). It was a very easy walk for me to Betsy Ross House, Ben Franklin Gravesite, Elfareth Alley, Liberty Bell, Independence Hall, Liberty Visitor Center and great local dining. The location, room and breakfast was great. Clean hotel in very safe area. I felt very safe even at night. I will say the interstate noise is incredibly loud at night. If you are a light sleeper go elsewhere. However, we are a family if heavy sleepers and I was the only one who noticed the interstate noise but not enough to keep me awake. Loved this place

The Hilton is a great place to stay no matter if your visiting or going to make it your home for awhile, I recommend it not just because of the big flatscreen TV's and cable on demand in every room. But other things such as the complimentary breakfasts they have cooked fresh at the lobby every morning, as well as the dinners they serve every Wednesday are just as good. Overall, the staff and people treat you like family, as well as the fellow tenets I recommend this place to anyone who needs a place to stay when visiting anything around the Philadelphia area, especially since the location makes it convenient for traveling to most of the favorite dinners and hot-spots. 5 stars!! Our room was perfect and it was so nice that they were able to accommodate our request for a certain floor and view. We were even welcomed back with a handwritten note in our room. We are most likely forgetting some of the wonderful team members here, but Montrose, Alesha, Sheyenne, and Daoud were really helpful and very friendly at the front desk and concierge desk. Also great were Jackie, Teresa, and others in the club lounge. Service in the club lounge was excellent, even when things got busy, and the food was good, too, with a number of options to choose from. Between the friendly staff, personal attention, and proximity to both university city and center city, we know we will be back!

Room not properly cleaned. There was open drinks and food in the refrigerator. The room smelled moldy. The toilet paper holder was broken and just hanging at a downward angle. I booked the room for three people but only two sets of towels were in the room. There was no soap at all. I think the sheets were clean, but with these issues and lack of attention to cleaning and the state of the room in general, I have my doubts. Front desk and staff were friendly, although I was never asked how my stay was when I checked out. I am a Hilton Diamond member and was not given an upgrade and I had to ask for the water that I was supposed to receive. I received the food/beverage credit for one day but not the second.

Old City Philadelphia is a good area for tourists but this Marriott may not be the best choice for lodging in the area. It is convenient to some of the historic sites like Independence Hall and it's also convenient for Headhouse Square (restaurants on South Street) and the Ritz movie theatre. But the hotel is close to I95 so you'll hear traffic unless you ask for the quiet side of the hotel. Our room had inadequate air conditioning - it was a blessing when the AC ran because it quieted the outside noise. But it ran infrequently. I was here for a conference and the conference rooms are convenient and adequate. But don't plan to dine at the hotel. At check in we were gifted with a voucher for the buffet breakfast which normally costs $17.95. Wow! First, the buffet consists of oatmeal, sausage, eggs and fruit. There are packages of bagels and bread, and some cookies. There were no extras (they were all out) for oatmeal toppings. It's all self service and I had to clean a table before sitting - I don't mind, but the attitude of the attendant I did mind. She was gruff. At one point someone dropped fruit salad on the floor and picked up the pieces of fruit but the liquid was still obvious - the attendant just threw up her hands when someone pointed to the spill - hoping to avoid a fall. The attendant just didn't care. I asked her for a bowl and she just plopped a stack next to me - no comments. Very rude. Anyone who pays $17.95 for this ”buffet” will be sorely disappointed. You can walk over to Headhouse Square, 10 minutes away, and get a great breakfast for less money at the South Street Diner. Overnight parking is expensive at the hotel. Housekeeping was sketchy at first - all I got was a refresh of the towels until I found the housekeeping manager and asked that the room be cleaned.

Excellent stay from beginning to end! Property was ideally located right outside the city and adjacent to the University of Penn. I really appreciated the adequate supply of good restaurants and the youthful vibe. Deno at the front desk was professional, personable, affable, knowledgeable and accommodating. I came in earlier than check in time due to a red eye flight that I had taken. He gave me a room that just happened to be cleaned and available. Thanks that allowed me to catch up on a couple hours of sleep which really helped make a difference in my trip👍👍 Breakfast was excellent! I will definitely return and this is from a 13 year former head-waiter at a Ritz Carlton in California who knows what service is about. Great job again for exceeding my expectations!!👍👍👍

The location is great, near the train station about 3 minutes walk. The breakfast is good enough with selections. Quiet and near downtown in walking distance.

Ben and Sam were amazing! Thanks for a great stay. Room was clean. Bed was very comfy. Housekeeping staff were very rude. Only negative during our stay. We paid for late checkout but they were very aggressive at our door all morning so don’t pay for late checkout if you don’t absolutely have to.
