Egyptian and Saudi tour operators had grabbed almost every available hotel room in Volgograd for fans going to the World Cup match, so the Russian National Tourist Board found me this place down in the south of the city. I arrived at reception at 6 AM and even though I wasn't officially supposed to check in till 2 PM, Tatiana, the night manageress, understood enough of my bad Russian to book me into a top floor room. This was particularly appreciated as I had travelled through the night with a stinking cold. The room itself was fairly basic. There was a TV on the wall, but no fridge and the bathroom had a couple of loose tiles, although the shower worked perfectly well. The room was not cleaned during my stay. Getting into town involved reception phoning for a taxi; fares ranged from 108-260 roubles. The hotel is situated between a main road and a suburban railway line, but noise was not really a factor (my room was to the back, on the railway side). There is a vending machine in the reception area selling cold drinks and across from it there is a small breakfast bar with wall mounted television. The lady working there kindly got me some slices of cake to eat with my coffee when I explained I didn't want any hot food for breakfast - it was already 20 degrees outside! The Marton hotel is somewhat out of the way and probably few, if any, westerners will use it, but it gave me somewhere to stay in Volgograd that was perfectly acceptable.

This hotel is fine. Not super and not bad. The staff barely speak english or any other language than Russian which can be problematic. ALL signs and alerts are in Russian as well. We had to change rooms 2 times. First because the room had not be cleaned and the second night because somebody else had booked our room. So we were moved to a same kind of room. Which was strange. The breakfast would not be recommended. The air con did not work in our room either. This was my first trip to Russia so I am not fully aware of the standards but apparently they are not used to foreign tourists in Volgograd.

Stayed at the Ring during the World Cup - unlike many other places, prices didn't quadruple overnight.Located within walking distance from the station and city centre. Comfortable room with decent amenities; great breakfast and lunch options. What did set the Ring apart from others was their amazingly friendly and helpful staff - they were excellent; we were even given a lift to the Railway Station at past midnight by one of the managers. Looking forward to return!

We stayed in Hilton Garden Inn two times this summer. Both were due to my husband's business trips, plus to visit the area during weekends. Both times we really enjoyed our stay. All the chain hotel features are here in a very proper way. Staff is nice and welcoming. When I had contacted them, without any problem, they merged our bookings (business and personal) so we could stay in one room the whole time. 24-hours check-in is fast and smooth. Bar offers 24-hours servies, as well. The only problem for me was way toooo much air conditioner in the bar. And sometimes during the night hours, they were accepting cash only. Rooms are up to the standard. Spacious beds, well furnished, recently renovated. Excellent temperature during hot summer nights (more than +30C outside). No complaints. Location was fine for us. Volgograd has an unusually long and vertical surface, and the hotel is in one minute from metro, short ride to Mamayev Kurgan, and not far from what is considered as a center. In any case, no problem to order an Uber for a quick ride. Shopping center with a large supermarket is also right here. As Hilton Garden Inn should be, it is a mid-priced hotel. Means excellent value for money.

My staying has been limited to one quick night fir traveling reasons, but I've found this place ultimately well adjusted and comfortable to be a three stars hotel. Bedroom size lost in capacity with the addition of the two sofas and table, but not a big issue. Full set of toiletries and towels provided, and a huge shower. Almost very close to the main road, but conveniently sound proofeed, hence no noise from the outside. Poor breakfast, with almost no service.

The hotel is located on the outskirts of Volgograd, opposite what looks like an estate and a motorway. Staff were very welcoming through my three days during the World Cup. I had dinner and breakfast and both were fine. Beer was very light but this is not really what a hotel is here for. The room are spacious and comfortable. Wifi can be moody as it is based on your floor (ie, you get a password for your room floor). The main issue - if there is one - is that the hotel is a little far from the town center. All in all, a pleasant stay.

Booked this hotel in September, 2019. During the booking process there was no single mentioning that the hotel accepts only certain type of document to prove Russian citizenship. When attempted to check in a CSR asked for a passport and when I presented one (for out-of-country trips) she said that they accept only internal passports. I explained that by law, since I reside outside the country, the out-of-country passport is also acceptable and that other hotels in the country where I stayed used that passport. My explanation was ignored and I was asked to provide my passport from another country which I did but again got the same response - that passport could not be accepted either (why then ask for another passport to begin with?). I had no choice but to ask for her manager. A conversation with the manager quickly turned into her monologue where she was constantly referring me to a law about Russian citizenship according to which she cannot accept any other documents other than the internal passport. My explanation that her statements are simply not true and attempts to provide references to specific Russian regulations (#1085 and #298 issued by the Russian government) were completely ignored. Apparently, the staff members I interacted with were incompetent and did not care about the position they put me in (I arrived at night and could not quickly find another hotel). Unless you want to experience the thrill of staying for a night on the street, stay away from this hotel.
