Excellent! This hotel is definitely one of the best on Koh Samet in terms of environment. It's super close to the beach, and the air every morning is incredibly fresh, just invigorating and relaxing. We stayed in a private bungalow right by the pool – swimming twice a day was pure bliss!

The Ao Prao hotel is a gem.  The tomyum soup is the best in the world. The property is immaculate and the massage was fantastic. Our room was 101 and the best location on the property. The staff is exceptional and will bend over backwards for you. Zann and Ti are so helpful. The problem is the pollution and trash in the ocean. The hotel is excellent but the water is less than desirable for a holiday.

If you are picky, need private beach and a big swimming pool - this hotel is not for you. It is a nice small hotel, with small pool, great breakfast. There are rooms that can fit 4 people. It’s a 20 second walk to the beach, you can rent a beach chair or lay on the towel. This hotel only servers breakfasts, there is no lunch or dinner, but you can always get good food at Samed Villa Restaurant. It’s a pleaser stay for several days, lots of greenery on this hotel property, it’s small but cozy.

The hotel is located right by the sea and boasts a very spacious private beach area. The accommodations are well-distributed across a large area, featuring numerous individual bungalows that truly capture an island resort vibe. While the rooms aren't overly spacious, they are very clean, and housekeeping is prompt. Breakfast is extensive and delicious. In the evenings, à la carte BBQ is available, and the beach hosts performances like 'Da Tie Hua' (molten iron fireworks).

Booked Deluxe Grand Executive room for 131e/night for two people for four nights. COULD NOT GET TWO KEY CARDS FOR THE ROOM, RECEPTIONIST REFUSED THE REQUEST FOR SECOND 20 cent PLASTIC KEY!?!?!? NOT NORMAL SERVICE AND NOT PRACTICAL FOR TWO PEOPLE!!! ALSO THE BUILDING HAS NO ELEVATOR!!! Had to climb to third floor with luggages as bell boy was somewhere....also the actual room is in two levels i.e.: entrance and toilet downstairs, bedroom and living room upstairs. Outside balcony shower and bath tub had no privacy as shower is visible to the courtyard. Stayed 4 nights and 2 days water and electricity interruptions. Beach bar Happy Hour doesnt work traditional way: Ordered Kamikaze and Strawberry Margarita and tacos. Drank the first Buy 1 get 1 Free and ate the tacos. Waited for the second drinks for a while but then waitress brings us bill without asking it. Happy Hour had ended and we didnt get our second drinks but got invoiced for only one THB350 cocktail and tacos, so be aware of the Grand View Happy Hour practices and dont miss the ordering window like we did. 🤭 Daily issues with the restaurant card machine, cant pay with a CC. Clean and modern room, but poor service and not practical room with two levels and stairs.

Sai Kaew Beach Koh Samet|1.29km from city center
Avatara Resort, Koh Samed: A Family-Friendly Beach Getaway Rating: 4/5 stars Koh Samed perfectly captures that quintessential island tourist vibe, and Avatara Resort delivers a solid family-friendly beach experience right in the heart of it all. Location & Beach Access The resort's prime beachfront location is undoubtedly its strongest asset. Situated directly by a beautiful stretch of shallow, crystal-blue waters, it offers safe and perfect conditions for family sea bathing. The convenience factor is excellent – you're just a two-minute walk from the famous Sai Kaew Beach, the iconic Mermaid Monument, and the bustling Silversand Resort area. Accommodation & Ambience While the resort building itself shows its age, the refurbished rooms create a lovely ambience with beautiful lighting that transforms the older structure into something quite charming. We stayed on the third floor, which offered peaceful mountain views overlooking the national park forest rather than beach views. The setting is genuinely calm and quiet – exactly what we wanted for a family retreat. Important consideration: There's no elevator, so reaching upper floors requires quite a climb. As we joked, shuttling between the room and outside areas four times daily provides a workout in itself! This makes the resort unsuitable for elderly guests or anyone with mobility issues. Dining Experience The breakfast experience is delightful, served in a beachside restaurant where you can enjoy your meal with sand between your toes. The selection impresses with a good range of both Western and Thai options, including fresh fruits. The resort's beach restaurant serves quality food with excellent value for money – we tried multiple dishes and enjoyed them all. However, there's no room service, and the restaurant closes early (around 9:30-10 PM). When late-night cravings struck, we found the nearby 7-Eleven (just 5-6 minutes' walk) convenient for snacks. Room Amenities & Issues Room amenities are adequate though not luxurious. The shower area is well-designed with a spacious dressing area. However, we encountered an unpleasant odor from the bathroom drainage system that required some management during our stay. Activities & Surroundings For water activities like parasailing, snorkeling, and jet skiing, you'll need to walk to Sai Kaew Beach to find service providers – fortunately, we found excellent options there. Final Verdict Avatara Resort succeeds as a family-friendly destination that balances beachfront access, peaceful ambience, and reasonable pricing. While it has some limitations (no elevator, early restaurant closure, minor maintenance issues), the overall experience was enjoyable and memorable. Recommended for: Families seeking a calm beach getaway who don't mind some stairs and prefer a quieter resort atmosphere. Consider alternatives if: You need elevator access, late-night dining options, or luxury amenities.

Despite paying a considerable amount, I was assigned a windowless room. My attempts via Ctrip to resolve this with the hotel were unsuccessful, partly because Ctrip's own room descriptions were unclear. Ctrip did, however, refund me 140 for the price difference. The shower pressure was extremely low, and the bathroom mirror was badly cracked, almost to the point of shattering. When I reported the issues, a staff member just took a brief look and walked away without offering any solution. On the positive side, the hotel is close to the sea and quiet, offering opportunities for free snorkeling. Having breakfast with a stunning sea view was also very enjoyable.

The Samed Resorts group offers the guests a free boat shuttle service to Samed Island (even free car parking), which I find very convenient. The staff helped us loading the baggage to the boat and from the boat to the hotel. Ban Ploy sea is located right next to the pier with a few minutes walk. The check-in went smoothly. The staff was so helpful and friendly. He even offered me an upgrade room with the sea front view for 2 nights. The room was clean and comfy. At the back of the resort is a log house cafe, offering tasty cakes and fancy drinks. I feel really relaxed lying on a private beach. In the evening we were so lazy to go out, just had dinner at the hotel‘s restaurant every night. It was not cheap but everything was delicious. Overall, we are very satisfied. Highly recommended!

The location of the hotel is great if you like snorkelling, the cleaning service is only from 9:00- 13:00 and you need to confirm with the staff if you need it or not, which is alright for me. I liked the hotel very much! The location is very convenient! Next to the main road, where there are many cafes, 7/11 and at the same time the hotel itself is quiet, only the birds are singing. It's a 7-minute walk to the beach, and to the pier as well. Everything is close, the island is small. The room is clean, the bed linen is snow-white. Water and toilet paper were changed every day, the cleaning of the rooms is excellent! We took a room for four, the room has 2 giant beds. You can fit four on one)) the room has everything you need, a hair dryer, a safe, a kettle, shampoo and shower gel, sets of towels for everyone. A cute, cozy terrace. Quadruple rooms have a separate terrace for the room, three and double rooms have a shared terrace for 2 rooms. Next to the entrance to the terrace there is a foot shower so you don't drag sand into the room. Very convenient. Very pleasant impressions of the stay. Now on Samet we will stay only with you ❤

We were a large group and booked late, so there weren't many options available, and I didn't have high expectations for this hotel. However, the experience was still very poor. The hotel's check-in policy wasn't very clear; I couldn't figure out if children staying required an extra charge. So, we just booked five rooms for two nights. My room was on the second floor and had no hot water, so I had to shower in other rooms. Even then, the water in those rooms wasn't very stable, fluctuating between strong and weak, and hot and cold. The most troublesome issue was insect bites. There were ants on the bed. Although the staff sprayed insecticide during cleaning, I was still bitten quite badly. For someone like me, who suffers from papular urticaria, it was particularly annoying. Outside the hotel, there's a convenience store, restaurants, and motorbike rentals. There's also a slightly smaller beach nearby, and the environment is decent. Diamond Beach is about a 10-minute walk away. In the evenings, the bar outside was a bit noisy, which kept the elderly in our group from sleeping. Overall, young people with low expectations might consider it. But for families like ours, with seniors and children, you'd really need to weigh whether you can accept these shortcomings.

Beautiful view in beach front (semi detached) cabins. We included breakfast during our stay which was fine (but take care some food had bugs). The rooms were fairly basic, not the most comfortable of beds and did not get cleaned during our 3 night stay. Water was provided and towels replaced once, left outside for us to collect. The restaurant was fairly reasonable, music at night. Unfortunately the rooms were very noisy, you could hear the neighbours during the night and lizards on the roof. The location is a lovely beach, not too far to walk on the beaches to tubtim, but a bit too far to walk to the main town.

It's far from the pier, it took a long time to arrive by car. There is the sea around, it is very quiet, not the main entertainment area, only two stores have food. But it's good to watch the sea. It should be relatively remote and cheaper than in the business circle. It is a Thai-style house. Most Thai hotels and guesthouses have a normal network, which is unpleasant. You can only go out to watch the bonfire show at night when you ask for a Shuangtiao car.

My impressions of staying at the hotel are mixed – I wouldn't say it was bad, but it wasn't great either. The service is okay, the girls are very friendly and try their best. The cabin is small, a bit cramped for two people. There's only a mirror in the bathroom, and you can't dry your hair because there's an outlet in the room. When you shower, the entire floor gets wet. I solved the problem by buying a wipe and wiping it down afterward. The mattress is a whole other story – terribly squeaky; you can't turn over or get out of bed without the annoying squeak. And then there are the mosquitoes. I was bitten all over, from head to toe. Buy some mosquito spray right away, otherwise they'll eat you. The view from the terrace is certainly beautiful; you can lie right on the bed and look out at the sea and the pier. But you have to be very careful walking up to the cabin; there are huge boulders and steep steps below. There's no private beach; we went for a swim further along the shore, but sand flies bit us there. Would I go again? Maybe for one, two nights at most. Just lie down, listen to the sound of the surf, look at the sea... We stayed for six nights, which is a long time. Oh, and there are lots of dogs there. They're not aggressive, they beg for food, wag their tails, but you can hear them barking at night.

Great location, a small cozy hotel with friendly staff and a delicious breakfast; the soup was particularly enjoyable. They also offer free bicycles and stand-up paddleboards (SUPs). Direct access to two beaches is a huge plus. Even though it was off-season, we were pleasantly surprised by the weather. The sea was a bit wavy, but still swimmable. The beaches were clean, and the white sand crunched delightfully underfoot. You can even get a massage right on the beach. Act, the front desk manager, was incredibly welcoming and friendly, always ready to assist, and even saw us off to our taxi. I wish the hotel continued success. P.S. My only suggestion would be to refresh the beach towels.

**Cons:** Sand flies on the beach, and their bites take weeks to heal!!! At low tide, swimming in the sea is impossible due to sea urchins and corals. There's a complete lack of facilities, and it's a 21-minute walk to the central pier. Breakfast was very basic: only eggs (three types) and lettuce. No sausages, bacon, or vegetables were available. **Pros:** The pool. The cafe on the pier serves absolutely delicious food! **Important note:** Do not stay in the garden rooms – they are full of critters! **Recommendation:** I only recommend this place for extreme introverts and pool lovers.

Mixed impressions) For families with children, the pool was a great help: two depths, for babies and a maximum of 110 cm. We vacationed with my 9-year-old daughter in June 2025. There were waves in the bay, so we often swam in the pool. For breakfast: buffet (watermelon, melon, tea, coffee, juices, cornflakes, milk, green lettuce, cherry tomatoes, white rice, rice with vegetables, with chicken, sausages, fried eggs, white toast, jam, butter, etc.) We got a room in which the water in the shower and sink did not drain, not comfortable at all. But we lasted two nights) as in other houses - I don't know) Overall, good. We rented a motorbike and traveled around the island: we were on other beaches and at View points. At the very end of the island, there are gorgeous views!

I don't know why this video can't be uploaded, but the other one does. We traveled with two elderly people and a three-year-old child and chose this place because we wanted a quiet vacation. The 300+ baht rooms were a good value, but we were also tempted by the ocean view of the 700+ baht rooms, so we booked one for each. Upon arrival, we realized the ocean view was the most worthwhile factor; the rest of the accommodations, including the breakfast, were mediocre. The front desk said we could upgrade to two adjacent ocean view rooms for an additional 500 baht. This was a better deal than booking directly through the platform. You can see the pictures; they're all real shots. Honestly, the accommodations are like a typical farm stay in China, but the ocean view is truly authentic, something you don't get at other hotels. If you're looking for a view and quiet, book this place. The location, just around the corner from the beach, is indeed quiet, but being away from the hustle and bustle also means it's inconvenient. We ate at another beach a dozen minutes further up the road, where we had more options and the food was better. The hotel breakfast was terrible, with almost no vegetables. They served it as a set meal, but since there were so many of us, we ordered the entire set meal, with unlimited refills. In the end, we asked them to stir-fry all the vegetables in the restaurant together to make it a complete meal. This is my honest experience, and I hope it helps others.

Saikaew Villa 65 is less than a 5 minute walk from the songthiaw drop off to get to the accommodation, after the 10 minute taxi ride from Ban Phe pier. We booked 3 Superior Twin rooms for family but the rooms were definitely not 'superior'. The rooms lacked any finesse, with a broken lampshade, gaps under the doors for mozzies to get in, a broken light in the bathroom and a leaking sink pipe, dodgy fridge connection and dead batteries in the aircon remote. The room itself was clean and the service for room cleaning was good, but the surrounding area around the rooms was dilapidated, with broken down storage buildings, remnants of building works and rubbish bags and cleaning equipment on display in the walkways each day. There was a definite lack of attention to detail. It was backpacker style but not with a backpacker price tag. I booked the rooms on a balcony, with a view of the courtyard garden, but there was nowhere to sit outside the room, no chairs provided, just small tables. The location is very good, a minute or so walk away from the beach. The attached restaurant, 'Joe's', was very efficiently run and the service there was excellent (thank you to the waiting staff, who were very friendly and helpful). For 60 baht for the day, a deckchair could be rented with an umbrella right on the sea front, and the restaurant staff provided towels for the deckchairs when asked. If you plan on spending little time in your rooms, and you don't mind the outside appearance of the accommodation, then Sai Kaew 65 is a great place to base yourself for all that Sai Kaew and Koh Samed has to offer.

You can eat at the cafe or in your room. However, the staff at the cafe and other areas lacked service mind. They didn't smile and greet me. They were either sitting on their phones or chatting in groups. The water and toiletries were insufficient for the guests. The restaurant and cafe closed early, closing before 5 p.m. There was nothing available for drinks or food. The entrance was under renovation, but every time I walked past, the attentive receptionist would come out and tell the technician to stop and let me pass. Thank you. I have stayed at Flamingo Villa before (In the Garden Room), but this time I decided to stay in the loft room, which apparently is called the Family Room. Flamingo Villa is somewhat strange, since the ”Hotel” is basically three rooms within the Samed Your House hotel. Our neighbors actually knocked on our door to try and check in ~ You need to call the phone number for Flamingo Villa in order to check in, as someone will come out to meet you. So, bottom line up front: Flamingo Villa is awesome, but get ready to kill a lot of mosquitos! The owners do a good job of lighting incense sticks to try and keep the them away, but there are fountains around the area and the mosquitos are no joke. I would say I killed at least 10 in our room, so it is super important to make sure you close the sliding doors behind you every time you go in and out of the room. The Family Room was awesome. The lower floor is basically a living room with a large day bed and a big TV with great speakers. The toilet room is separate from the shower. The stairs to the loft are pretty steep, but once you get up there it is really nice. There are two queen beds in the loft, and the glass wall and sliding door separate the bedroom from the main room, which is great because the bedroom has its own AC unit, and the glass keeps out the mosquitoes. The beds were comfortable, but be careful because the ceiling is very low above the beds. The view from up in the loft is very peaceful, and the owners obviously spent a lot of time decorating the place (The Christmas tree was still up while we were there). The hotel is a 5 minute walk from Sai Kaew Beach, and the pier for the ferry is only a 10 minute walk ~ but you can take a mini bus if you would like. The hotel is close to restaurants and stores, and there are two 7-11s close to the beach. We rented a motor bike the last time we were in Koh Samed, but Sai Kaew Beach seems to be the nicest on the island, so we just hung out there. I love Flamingo Villa, and I am sure I will stay there again in the future.

Breakfast is basic, but you can find something to eat. We really enjoyed everything. There was a fire show in the evening – unforgettable.

Overall, a great hotel with a fantastic beach, delicious food at the restaurant, and clean bedding. Of course, it's a bit far from the center where you'd find convenience stores like 7-Eleven, which means prices at nearby shops are quite steep. However, you can always bring some essentials with you.

“Suncloud Koh Samet has a great location, very close to the beach, which makes it easy to enjoy the island. The rooms were clean and comfortable, and the amenities were good for a short stay. Service could be improved as it was a bit slow at times, but overall it’s a nice spot if you want convenience and easy access to the beach.🏖️

Samet Bell House was good value. The room was clean and the bathroom looked like it had been recently renovated. Our bungalow was a good size for two people. We were a 2 minute walk from the beach and close to many restaurants. We enjoyed a quiet week at Samet Bell House.

✨ “We had a great stay at Samed Hideaway Resort. The rooms were very clean and comfortable, and the staff were super friendly and helpful throughout our trip. The pool was a nice spot to relax with a sea view, and the overall atmosphere was quiet and peaceful. Location is a bit away from the main beach, but easy to reach with a motorbike or taxi. Perfect for couples who want both relaxation and access to the island’s activities.”

We loved everything. The staff was friendly and polite. The hotel was very clean, the towels were pleasantly scented, and we were given more than we needed. We were happy to extend our stay. The breakfasts were delicious; I really liked the avocado one.

The hotel is located in a good location, very close to the main street leading to the beach. But you can't hear the street noise. However, you can hear your neighbors on the nearest terrace, but this is not critical. The terrace itself is large, there is a clothes dryer and a table at which it was nice to have breakfast. But mosquitoes can bite you in the evening, take your own products. The hotel is clean, there is shampoo, shower gel, kettle, refrigerator, hair dryer and air conditioning. Towels, trash cans are changed every day and the floors are wiped. We really liked this hotel!

The location was good. Pretty much in-between the pier and the beach. Bed was comfortable and the AC is great. There is a school very close that may get loud during school hours. Kids being loud and having fun doesn't bother me though. The front desk is not manned. No line/WhatsApp number to call. Reception closed at 5pm.
