flash not working in morning ;
requesting to have breakfast during waiting time ( which looked liked a good gesture coz breakfast time was almost over and why to waste food but later asking to pay ( which should had been informed priorly )

The hotel services were excellent top notch. The staff were professional, provided me with a lot of extra services with no additional cost, rooms were clean. And most importantly the location is absolutely great. Just beside the botanical garden i had some amazing experiences. The only con is the room size is too small and i mean it. They’ve 7 rooms 4 rooms on the first floor and 3 rooms on the second floor. Beside the rooms they have common living areas where you can enjoy your meal. Firstly, I was given a room in an extension block that seemed to have been built recently. It was modern but lacked the charm and character of a true heritage property. The main building, with its fireplace and historic ambience, was nowhere to be found. This was especially disappointing considering the premium price I paid, comparable to what you'd expect from a 5-star hotel.
The lack of attention to detail continued throughout my stay. When I checked in on a rainy day, I had to walk to the extension block without an umbrella despite the muddy road. The staff seemed unbothered by this inconvenience. Additionally, the room didn't have slippers, and the floor was cold, with no heating available (although they did provide a basic room heater when requested).
To make matters worse, I had to call the front desk to confirm my room for the second day, which should have been done automatically as part of their standard procedure. This lack of efficiency only added to my frustration.
The toiletries were also woefully inadequate, with only basic soap and shampoo provided. Power cuts were frequent, and I had to notify the front desk each time, which seemed like a hassle the hotel should have anticipated.
The breakfast buffet was uninspiring and lacked flavour. To make matters worse, I had dinner at their restaurant, which was rated top in Ooty, but my experience was average at best. To add insult to injury, they got our order wrong, substituting Nasi Goreng (fried rice) with Mee Goreng (fried noodles). When I brought this to their attention, they made no effort to compensate for the mistake.
In conclusion, Hotel King's Cliff fails to live up to its reputation as a heritage property or even a 2-star hotel. The overpricing and lack of attention to detail make it a poor choice for travellers seeking a comfortable and enjoyable stay in Ooty.FromSEK 1,206

The property is located in a very nice place close to all tourist attaractions. The palace turned into a hotel is a must visit. The rooms take you back the kings era, giving you the nostalgic feel. The rooms are well furnished with antique furniture, paintungs and carpets. The hotel is owned by the wadayar group. The thing which i noticed that stands out is that they have not appointed professionally trained staff. But the staff all are very courteous and helpful. Loction is okay. Ambience is okay. But there are some cons. The room in which we stayed had few problems. Bathroom drains were clogged and water was covering the entire bathroom. Location: very practical, convenient, in the centre of the city. No views but the hotel has a heritage vibe and the well maintained gardens, lawns flowers make up for the lack of mountain or valley view. Rooms: clean, have vintage looking furniture. No lockers but only a drawer which cud be latched. We carried out valuables so dint have a problem but if u want to keep in hotel u may need to ask for key. Kettle, milk, tea n coffe powders, sugar packets available. Bathrooms: decent. They do clean regularly but some smell is there despite impeccable cleaning. They do provide soap n shampoo. 24 hr hot water available. Heater available at extra charge. We did not need it though. The biggest negative is they don't have their own kitchen. There is a restaurant in their campus but it functions independently. So early morning milk or early breakfast on day of departure etc needs to be managed from outside. The reception people do help for the same. The restaurant is very famous so lots of crowd wil come for restaurant. Waiting is there often. However, the property is well managed. They have small but beautiful gardens, a small play area and a bonfire arrangment too. So, if u want a hotel with heritage feel in the heart of the city this is the place to be. Me and my wife, both senior citizens, stayed in The Byke Sunshine Grand, Ooty from 16th to 19th April, 2025.
Our stay was excellent and will be remembered in our memory for years to come. The staff and management was very cooperative and courteous and they solved any problem put to them, to our full satisfaction, smilingly. The food was very tasty. Location was neighbour hill at Ooty called elkhill, so auto charges 200 to climb. But worth the view from the resort, it's majestic view of Ooty, especially at night.
Hotel food was decent, South Indian available only for breakfast. Staffs were friendly. There is children play area. Camp fire is provided for 800rs extra charge. Cabs service is available right at the Hotel itself. Clean place. TV alone, I could see only Vijay tv as useful Tamil channel. But good speed wifi was provided to browse mobile / Laptop. I had a good stay at this hotel. Pros:
1. Staffs are very friendly and courteous
2. Ample amount of parking space
3. Hotel is almost at the top of the hill, due to which you get an amazing view of ooty city
4. Food is awesome
5. They provide every toiletry kit including shaving set
6. Very neat and tidy rooms
7. I stayed at room#124 and this had an amazing view of the helipad and then the ooty city
8. Unlike other hotels, the rooms opening towards the helipad has an extra room for dinner and small party (kind of unexpected but enjoyed a lot)
9. I read some review about being old-fashioned, untidy and damped rooms but let me tell you this, its an old hotel but they have really taken care of it and provided you with everything that you need to have a pleasant stay. Don't go with other reviews, i have visited ooty countless times and stayed in many hotels but this one will give you peace of mind! cons:

At first looking at entrance I was not amazed but the exploring property that had the nature based concept with garden and fish ponds , bridge etc.. it was out of world. Food ways good and all required amenities were there for a comfortable stay. I would appreciate the staffs who were humble , understanding the situation and making us comfortable , kudos to staffs. Only suggestion if you can focus is providing fresh blanket for new customers and I felt that was not fresh one. I may be wrong just focus on that. Rest were great for me. Thank youFromSEK 577

And some of the staffs didn’t pay attention to the room issues like
flash not working in morning ;
requesting to have breakfast during waiting time ( which looked liked a good gesture coz breakfast time was almost over and why to waste food but later asking to pay ( which should had been informed priorly )
