I've stayed at four Park Hyatt hotels in China, and while I appreciate the brand, the quality varies among them. Recently, I visited Suzhou and stayed at the Park Hyatt Suzhou. The personalized service, starting from the butler, to the front desk, housekeeping, and the pick-up/drop-off at the entrance, was all satisfactory. Interacting and communicating with them left me feeling very pleasant, which was excellent! The room layout was unique compared to other standard hotels, feeling especially spacious and comfortable. It was easy to move around and had a distinctive style. The furniture and equipment layout showcased exceptional craftsmanship, truly providing a wonderful space. What I liked even more were the numerous art sculptures within the hotel, especially the cute and interesting small fish, snails, and dragonflies at the entrance of each room. Inside the rooms, there were also lively small birds and chubby, endearing birds, which enhanced the hotel's artistic ambiance and highlighted the unique qualities of the Park Hyatt brand. The hotel's breakfast quality was also quite good; I thoroughly enjoyed it! I was very fond of and satisfied with the Park Hyatt Suzhou, and I will definitely return! Finally, a special thank you to our butler Tracy for her warm and attentive service.

I brought my daughter to Suzhou this weekend and stayed at a hotel again. This time, we chose the Nikko Hotel in Shishan, and the actual experience was fantastic, highly recommended! Even my daughter said she wants to keep staying here in the future. Parking was very convenient for self-driving, with plenty of spaces, and there were several fast-charging stations on the ground level, which was handy for charging. As soon as we entered the lobby, the hotel's scent was very refreshing. The room was spacious, and the view from the window was superb. The shower had great water pressure, and the bedding was comfortable. The hotel's pool and sauna facilities were also excellent. Plus, there are plenty of attractions and dining options nearby. This will definitely be our top choice for future visits to Suzhou. Highly recommended!

My overall stay far exceeded expectations. The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient for catching a taxi or finding food. The room was spotlessly clean, and the bedding was soft and comfortable, perfect for unwinding after a long journey. The hot water pressure was stable, and the internet was fast and reliable. The front desk staff were very friendly, and check-in and check-out were quick. The hotel itself is quite quiet, so you won't be bothered by outside noise. It offers great value for money and is highly recommended for both vacations and short stays.

great little getaway for a night. We used the public hot springs, which had a good few to choose from and wasnt overcrowded. I would recommend to the hotel and other hot spring hotels, that they keep kids from splashing and to use the actual swimming pool even if its cold. Guests come to relax. Not to participate in hot spring kids swimming lessons. But everything else was good. There was also no restaurant available. We were taken on a short walk out of the hotel to a restaurant which seemed to be the only thing available. We only really went for the hot springs and luckily we had a private one that we could finally relax in. Would recommend.

Atour has always been our family's go-to hotel. This time in Suzhou, we happened to encounter a typhoon, so we spent two full days at the hotel and got to know this branch really well. The breakfast was plentiful, and my child loved it. My child also really enjoyed the hotel's gym and even wrote a handwritten review, see picture! Highly recommended! My child said she's truly become an 'Atour fan,' haha~

I was really touched by the attention to detail at this Jinjiang Inn! The ”Suzhou” signage and travel guide in the lobby were thoughtful touches, showing their appreciation for local culture. The room was clean and refreshing, the air conditioning was quiet, and the bedding was very comfortable, making for a very relaxing stay. The front desk staff were also very helpful and responsive, providing excellent service and making my stay very reassuring. Definitely a five-star review!

All in all, the hotel isn't too bad. Its pricing is reasonable for both foreign and domestic tourists, and located in the old area of the central Gusu distruct, it's conveniently close to all number of notable locations and attractions, with just a short metro ride accessible by a fifteen minute walk through a picturesque part of town. It also offers good amenities, with a room fridge, complementary tea and water, strong room-specific WiFi, self-service laundry and, in the depths of summer, a much needed and effective air conditioner. With that said, the hygiene in our room was somewhat subpar. One corner of the room seemed to have never been cleaned, whilst the toilet floor was littered with cigarette ash despite it being a non-smoking room. The latter of which I wouldn't mind had the room been cleaned between visits, but it seems that no effort was made to deep clean the room before we arrived. We also discovered a section of loose floorboards which too had been gathering dust, and the secondary lock seemed to have been broken and simply rested back in its former position, as it fell onto the ground when we opened the door. Overall our three night stay was good and we enjoyed our time, but there's certainly room for improvement.

The best thing about this hotel is its proximity to the subway. It's less than a two-minute walk from the exit, so I highly recommend it! The room is very spacious, and there's plenty of space. For those who wake up early, there's breakfast available.

I am very satisfied with this trip. The young couple runs this homestay. They love cleanliness very much, so the room is very clean. The interior design is very simple and generous, yet avant-garde. The toilets in the bathroom are all equipped with automatic ultraviolet disinfection, which is not necessarily possible in many high-end hotels. The beautiful and petite young lady is enthusiastic and capable. She also took many beautiful photos for us and secretly recorded a short video for us, which is very touching. The handsome young man is very efficient, caring, and has good eyesight. When we came, the elderly had difficulty walking and needed to adjust the room. He helped to move all the luggage down. When we left, he helped to help the elderly go up and down the stairs. In today's society, being able to do these things is very touching. The breakfast is also very rich. Although the journey is less than two days, the whole family is very happy, especially the two 85-year-old elderly people. They can't put down the beautiful photos taken by the young lady. This encounter is unforgettable... Thanks again to the two young couples, and I hope they will be successful and their business will be prosperous.

On October 3rd, unsure where to go, my friend and I decided on a staycation at Le Méridien Suzhou Bay. It rained for both days, so we spent the entire time relaxing at the hotel. **Facilities:** The room was quite spacious, and we even got upgraded to a lake-view room with panoramic views of Taihu Lake right from our window. The bathroom was also large, with a double vanity and a well-designed three-section separation. The overall decor had a French flair, which felt more atmospheric than the business-like style of a Marriott. The pool wasn't huge, but there was a children's hot spring pool, which was enough for kids to enjoy. The gym also overlooked the lake, offering a pleasant environment, though the billiards table required a fee and a wait – 68 yuan per hour. **Hygiene:** Overall good, but the room might have had a slight damp smell due to its proximity to the lake. **Environment:** Le Méridien is right on the Taihu Lake in Suzhou Bay. As a resort hotel under Marriott, its facilities are quite impressive. The lobby is on the third floor, and upon entering, you're greeted with unobstructed lake views. Even though it was rainy, it was still very calming. **Service:** During our stay, we noticed some dust on the headboard, which was problematic for someone with dust mite allergies. The duty manager, Patrick, came to inspect it. He was proactive in resolving the issue without deflecting blame, offering us complimentary lunch and a small cake for the day, and also extending our check-out time to 3:30 PM. His service was consistently friendly, providing all of us with an excellent experience. Thank you. Overall, this is a hotel worth a short getaway for those in the Jiangsu, Zhejiang, and Shanghai area. Taihu Lake is beautiful on a clear day, and I'd love to visit again if I get the chance!

There's a great selection of recreational activities, with various hot spring pools and indoor/outdoor swimming pools to choose from. They also have excellent facilities for families, including an indoor play area, kids' water slides, and outdoor adventure activities – truly something for everyone, adults and children alike. The overall environment is clean and tidy. You could easily spend a whole day here without getting bored, making it perfect for a family vacation. The front desk was also very prompt and thorough in resolving any issues.

On the positive side, the hotel is very pet-friendly. They provided a dog bed, pee pads, and a water bowl. The third floor even has a dedicated pet room with dog crates. The restaurant is conveniently located next to the lobby on the ground floor, and there's a hot spring. Overall, it offers good value for money. I suggest adding luggage racks, a full-length mirror, and more chairs to make the stay even more comfortable.

After getting off the highway, I followed the beautiful scenery of Taihu Lake all the way to the lake and — —Zero distance to Taihu Lake. A hotel with a sense of design. You can see the endless Taihu Lake (like the seaside) from the room. The restaurant on the second floor. You can see the island in the distance. You can see the chinaberry tree swaying in the wind in the near distance. There is also a very touching orange small house. It is like a fairyland. It comes into view. Four good friends brought their parents and children to celebrate the New Year together. After comparing a lot, this one has the largest yard, more recreational facilities, and more rooms. All 23 people are very satisfied, especially the elderly. Karaoke, billiards, mahjong... The children played table tennis and game consoles, and they were all very happy. Having stayed at the Shangri-La on Tayuan Road before, I decided to revisit with my whole family during the National Day holiday this time. It certainly didn't disappoint! The room was spacious, with floor-to-ceiling windows offering panoramic views of Lion Hill and the city. The bedding was soft and comfortable, and the soundproofing was excellent, ensuring a peaceful night's sleep for the entire family. The hotel amenities are perfect for family trips. The heated swimming pool has a children's play area, so swimming in this weather isn't chilly at all. The gym is well-equipped, so both adults and children can find ways to relax. The location is superb, making travel very convenient. It's just a short drive to famous Suzhou attractions like Hanshan Temple and the west branch of the Suzhou Museum. The service is thoughtful and meticulous; check-in at the front desk was efficient, and Lisa was gentle and polite. The service was as attentive as ever. Even with the large crowds during National Day, he managed to arrange a room with a great view for us and even provided welcome fruit. The quality of service definitely didn't dip. There are a limited number of three-bedroom units. We stayed on the 17th floor, and the window faced north, which felt a bit restrictive in terms of views. The dining options could be improved, and the toilet in the bathroom wasn't a smart toilet, but everything else was fine. I'd suggest having dish soap in the kitchen. There's a washer and dryer, but no laundry detergent or pods – I'm not sure if the front desk could provide them if I called. The third picture shows the 'nest' my 10-year-old daughter built with seven pillows.

During the National Day holiday, I stayed at the InterContinental with my family, and overall, it was quite good. The location is excellent, and we chose a king-size room with a view of Jinji Lake. The hotel proactively asked if we had a baby or elderly guests and what our needs were, and they prepared baby amenities and a bathtub accordingly. The photography package included in the hotel deal was also great, with fantastic results, even though it was a rainy day. The overall experience was very good. Nearby, there's Jiuguang Department Store, Eslite Spectrum, and Suzhou Museum of Contemporary Art. Next time, I'll definitely stay for a few more nights to explore Suzhou more thoroughly. Also, the butler and front desk staff were wonderful, especially Cathy Xiao Zuo, who was very nice.

Hygiene: The overall hygiene was acceptable. Facilities: The hotel is a bit old, so the room door wouldn't stay open when pushed, which made it inconvenient to enter or exit with luggage. The facilities and equipment definitely need careful maintenance. Service: When I first booked, I already noted that I wanted a room far from the elevator and requested a baby bed rail and a footstool. When I checked in at the front desk, I forgot to ask again. When I entered the room and found they weren't there, I called to request them. Initially, I was told that due to high demand during the holiday, the bed rail wasn't available. After I explained that I had already made a note during my advance booking and had even reconfirmed these needs when the hotel called me a few days prior, they managed to resolve it for me. So, 'busy holiday' isn't an excuse; the hotel needs to improve all aspects of its service to match the holiday price. Environment: The overall scenery is quite good, and the location is excellent. 60-minute travel photography experience (includes 3 retouched digital photos): Not used. Jialiya 200 yuan spa voucher: Not used. Little Captain's Club: The kids really enjoyed the children's play area.

The location is great, close to Shantang Street. The room was decent, and the environment was quiet. There's a small garden at the entrance, and the service was really good; the front desk staff were very welcoming. Downsides: You can hear noises from the hallway quite clearly, and since the hotel is in a central location, it's hard to get a taxi during peak hours. Side note: The best way to get around this city is by electric scooter. If you're going to take a rickshaw or trishaw, the starting price is usually 20 yuan, but you can haggle. I'd recommend aiming for half price.

Across the road from Shushan Village, this Hilton has its own unique charm, though its signature style isn't overtly prominent. It's perfect for a relaxing family getaway, especially with kids (and pets!), offering plenty of recreational facilities. The pool is a bit small, so we just peeked in and decided not to compete with the little ones. The gardens have a natural, wild beauty and are impeccably maintained. Outside the restaurant, a flock of ducks gathers daily, eagerly awaiting treats (the restaurant provides breadcrumbs), much to the delight of both adults and children. The rooms are spread out, but electric carts are always on standby, saving you the hassle of walking, especially with luggage. Parking in Shushan Village can be a pain during peak season. Walking from here isn't impossible, but it would be even better if shared bikes were available nearby.

Although the window faces the street and offers city views, the hotel thoughtfully installed double-paned glass, which provides amazing soundproofing – I slept soundly until morning. The front desk staff, concierge, and luggage storage personnel all provided exceptional service. They were proactively friendly, always smiling, and helped with our luggage. When my husband cut his hand, the front desk staff immediately offered alcohol wipes and a plaster. Staying at this hotel made it very convenient to get to nearby tourist attractions; a taxi ride typically took about 15 minutes, and subway access was also very easy.

I was lucky enough to stay in a Ferris Wheel View Executive Suite for 3 days and 2 nights during the National Day holiday, and it was a very enjoyable trip!~ 1️⃣ **Location:** The hotel's location is super convenient! It's close to Exits 3 and 4 of Times Square Metro Station. Across the street, there's also Shin Kong Place and Eslite Spectrum. 2️⃣ **Room Experience:** True to its 110 square meters, the living room is really huge. I especially loved the bedroom; it's practically a 180-degree view. Lying on the left side, you can see the Ferris wheel and the traffic, and lying on the right, you can see Shin Kong Place and the Gate of the Orient – absolutely fantastic!~ The minibar's drinks and capsule coffee machine were good 😌 and they provided plenty of Nongfu Spring water. During turn-down service, they didn't proactively offer to refill the water, but the attendant noticed two or three bottles had been consumed and immediately helped replenish them. Thank you 🙏 3️⃣ **Club Lounge Afternoon Tea and Dinner:** This trip was primarily a staycation, so we mostly ate at the hotel. I was initially worried that dinner wouldn't be enough, but the dishes were plentiful and varied, and they were refilled very quickly! On the first day, there was sushi; on the second day, it was cucumber bread with tuna. The snack jars contained cranberry cookies, chocolate cookies, kaki no tane (persimmon seeds), and rice crackers. **Dinner Happy Hour 18:00-20:00** 6 hot dishes, 6 cold dishes, 2 soups, 2 steamed dishes (millet cakes or dumplings/buns), bread, sushi, salad, small cakes, as well as freshly squeezed juice and alcoholic beverages. The menu was different on both days and very rich. The slightly peppercorn-flavored 'shui zhu niu rou' (boiled beef) and the very sour tomato vegetable soup were absolutely delicious 🤤🤤 The overall design of the Club Lounge is also very beautiful. If you arrive ten minutes early for meals, you can usually get a window seat, offering a distant view of Jinji Lake at night. I was even lucky enough to capture the Gate of the Orient during a pink sunset!~ 4️⃣ **Breakfast:** The 2F restaurant offers a wide variety, including freshly made noodles and rice vermicelli, pan-fried buns, doufuhua (tofu pudding), and yu tiao (fried dough sticks), etc. – all steaming hot and very appetizing. I highly recommend the smoked mackerel and seafood congee! The 'currently occupied' signs on the tables are a thoughtful touch! You don't have to worry about your seat being taken when you leave to get food. 5️⃣ **Service:** The staff are all very friendly and greet you with a smile. When going down the elevator, they intentionally didn't share it with guests, which was a very considerate and humbling detail. Check-in only took a few minutes, and red date tea was offered nearby. I was unsure if the Executive Suite included breakfast at 2F, so I asked, and to my surprise, the front desk staff immediately offered it as a complimentary extra. I forgot to check his name tag, but I'm truly grateful!~ The pre-arrival phone call was a thoughtful touch. The location is definitely the biggest highlight, as it's connected to Suzhou Center, making shopping and dining incredibly convenient. Had a wonderful 3-day, 2-night trip with my good friends and their families. Regarding service: Our butler, Cindy, was always online and ready to help. The engineering uncle braved the heavy rain to set up the projector for the kids and greeted us warmly the next day. Xu Chenhao from the activities department was a warm and engaging young man, teaching us kayaking techniques, sharing the resort's development story, and taking beautiful photos for every family. The children's club staff were also very welcoming, inviting us to try out various fitness equipment. Regarding cleanliness: Housekeeping was prompt and thorough. Regarding dining: The Chinese restaurant was quite good. However, breakfast was a bit mediocre with limited options. By 10 AM, they almost stopped restocking food. Suggestion: Upon check-in, we were offered an upgrade from 2 rooms to 3 rooms, but then told the third room was locked, effectively making it no upgrade at all. They only reluctantly opened it after we complained. I suggest training the front desk staff on what a room upgrade actually means. It might have been better not to offer an upgrade at all if they weren't clear on it.

This was my second stay here, and it's definitely one of the best hotels I've experienced in the Jiangsu-Zhejiang-Shanghai region, both in terms of hardware and software. The location is excellent, right in Suzhou's old town, very close to the Master of the Nets Garden and Canglang Pavilion, making it convenient to get around. I highly recommend their courtyard rooms. Each has a small garden at the front and back, allowing you to enjoy the tranquility of a classical garden without even leaving your room. Especially with the recent frequent rain, sitting in the courtyard and admiring the garden in the rain often creates a beautiful ambiance. The hotel restaurant has a Black Pearl One Diamond rating in Suzhou, and the food is truly outstanding. Enjoying the breakfast buffet in the morning is pure bliss! They must have an excellent pastry chef because the Western pastries at breakfast are incredibly rich and truly stand out. Their Suzhou-style dim sum is also just as good as what you'd find in famous old shops outside, saving you the trouble of searching for good food. You can be very satisfied with your meals right here at the hotel. 😁 This time, I'm especially grateful to our butler, Vickey. She's the warmest and most helpful butler I've ever encountered at a hotel, providing a lot of assistance and genuinely solving problems. Nanyuan Hotel My trip to Suzhou and my stay at Nanyuan Hotel had a bit of a bumpy start. I had originally booked a package through Ctrip for the Xiangqu Tower at Nanyuan Hotel, but something unexpected came up at home. I submitted an explanation through the backend and called the hotel. They immediately helped me cancel the reservation and even told me that I could rebook anytime before the end of the year if there was availability, welcoming me to visit Suzhou. I was so grateful! Even though I couldn't go then, it warmed my heart. Plans often change, and the situation at home quickly improved, allowing me to travel as originally planned. I hurried to rebook, and this time I chose the newly renovated building at Nanyuan Hotel, the Yingjie Tower. After checking in, I knew I made the right choice – it was fantastic. Everything was perfect. Location: I'm not sure if it's considered convenient. It's a bit of a distance from the subway station. However, the hotel has a bus stop right outside (Wangshi Garden Bus Stop), with buses that go directly to the museum. It's also very close to Wangshi Garden; you just cross the road from the hotel and walk about 50 meters. For dining, the hotel has its own restaurant, and there's also the Black Pearl restaurant, Kimpton Bamboo Grove Restaurant at Kimpton Bamboo Grove Hotel, within walking distance. I went to this restaurant twice during my stay, haha. Ambiance: It's a garden-style hotel, with the buildings nestled within the garden. Currently, there are three buildings available for guests: Xiangqu Tower, Yuejie Tower, and the Lixi Pavilion, which was Generalissimo Chiang Kai-shek's villa (I plan to book this one next time). I booked a king-size room this time, located on the first floor with a garden. Although the weather was a bit hot and I didn't go out, the view from inside the room was quite nice. Biggest advantage: Quiet, extremely quiet. I'm a very light sleeper, and I slept exceptionally well during my days at Nanyuan. The air conditioning was on at night, but there was no noise, which was truly excellent. This is the main reason why I will always choose Nanyuan for future visits to Suzhou! Secondly: The room was well-equipped: a small steam iron (this iron was quite good, with strong steam and quick ironing), and the hairdryer seemed to be a Laifen (comparable to Dyson in terms of airflow, powerful enough). There were also various types of hangers, which was very thoughtful. Needless to say, daily necessities like a refrigerator and kettle were also provided. The toiletries were also brand-name, so I won't need to bring my own shampoo next time. Breakfast: The breakfast was quite good. Regardless of which room type you stay in, breakfast is served together on the first floor of the building. The noodles are a must-try; each serving is a small bowl, not too much. You can customize it with various toppings. I had a bowl every day, adding braised pork, seaweed, and a few drops of chili oil, haha. A beautiful day starts with this bowl of noodles. Also, the fruit at this hotel is excellent. Kudos to the staff in the catering department who select the fruit. The honeydew melon was soft and sweet, and the cantaloupe and watermelon were both incredibly sweet and fresh. There were also desserts, sushi, and douhua (tofu pudding), which looked good but I didn't try them so I can't comment. There were also several types of yogurt and Yakult at the restaurant entrance, which were very popular. Service: The service was very professional. The hotel also offers a simple guided tour of its internal attractions for guests, with the latest tour starting at 4:30 PM daily. I booked the 4:00 PM tour, and when I gathered in the lobby, I saw that the staff member was a young lady. I casually took a picture, and her name was Song Shanshan. There were four guests in our group at that time. Ms. Song walked us through, explaining about Chiang's former residence, the 571 underground project, and He Yanong's former residence, Mingxuan, which is also the location of the first Garden Night Banquet of Wuzhong style. Her explanation was overall very good, and I'd like to give her a thumbs up too. After the tour, I asked if the hotel made its own mooncakes and was recommended to buy some at the front desk. I bought a box of Nanyuan Hotel's mooncakes, which are Southern-style with several flavors. They tasted good and were very good value for money. The only minor drawback: the bathroom didn't have an exhaust fan. But that's a small issue compared to the many advantages; it's negligible, haha. Anyway, I'm definitely staying here every time I visit Suzhou from now on.

After visiting with the kids this summer, we decided to come back for a two-night stay. Service is fantastic, breakfast is delicious, and they even serve sparkling wine. I highly recommend the Lake View Room with a balcony—the scenery is gorgeous and totally worth it. The little one loved running out to the balcony to watch the boats. They provide complimentary children's toiletries, bathrobes, and slippers, and bed rails are available upon request. The king room features a sofa that can be converted into a small bed, which is great for older kids to sleep on. They also gift a little animal-themed bag and a special kids' room key card, which is such a thoughtful touch. There are two indoor kids' clubs that the children really enjoyed. In the summer, the outdoor pool features a slide and button-activated water sprays, which was a huge hit with the kids. The hotel also includes three complimentary photo shoot sessions by a studio called ”Jinghong Photography.” As a mom, I rarely have photos with my kids because I'm always the one behind the camera, and nobody takes pictures of me. Taking advantage of the photo shoot, I wanted to get some pictures together. After reviewing the proofs, I thought they turned out quite well, and the hotel is a great backdrop for photos, so we ended up paying to buy some extra pictures. If you have some downtime during your stay, I definitely recommend booking a session with the photographer.

**Location:** The hotel is located right in the heart of Shantang Street, which makes it very convenient for shopping, sightseeing and exploring the area on foot. However, there is an important drawback: cars cannot reach the hotel directly. You will need to drag your luggage for several hundred metres along a rocky path to get there. To reach the hotel, you also have to walk through its front shop, which functions partly as a silk shop and museum. During peak hours, this area can get extremely crowded and hectic, making it quite difficult to navigate with luggage. This can be particularly inconvenient for families with young children or those travelling with large or multiple suitcases. **Room:** The room was relatively clean and spacious, with a bathtub. However, the view was disappointing as our room faced a 民宿/local residential buildings rather than the river. The room came with basic amenities. **Service:** The front desk staff, Xin, Summer and Xiao Ma, were helpful and friendly. Fish food was provided for the kids to feed the koi while we waited for check-in, which was a nice touch. The staff also helped carry our luggage to our room and, during check-out, helped bring our luggage to the designated pick-up point where our driver could meet us. **Breakfast:** Breakfast was a set meal consisting of noodles with bamboo shoots and meat, a hard-boiled egg, corn, pickles and grapes. It was very simple and, honestly, not very tasty. We ended up leaving most of it untouched. **Add-ons / Extras:** Apparently, the minibar is complimentary, but this was not mentioned to us during check-in. Some snacks also appeared to be provided for free, although again, we were not informed about this. We also did not receive the welcome fruit mentioned on the booking website. There is a complimentary 30-minute photoshoot that includes three free photos, with the option to purchase additional photos. Unfortunately, our experience with the photoshoot was very disappointing. The photographer appeared inexperienced and struggled to find flattering angles. Many of the photos were overexposed or captured awkward facial expressions. We were quite surprised by the overall quality of the photos. **Overall:** The hotel's biggest advantage is definitely its location — being right on Shantang Street makes sightseeing extremely convenient. The staff were also helpful and accommodating. SGSerena Chung**Location:** The hotel is located right in the heart of Shantang Street, which makes it very convenient for shopping, sightseeing and exploring the area on foot. However, there is an important drawback: cars cannot reach the hotel directly. You will need to drag your luggage for several hundred metres along a rocky path to get there. To reach the hotel, you also have to walk through its front shop, which functions partly as a silk shop and museum. During peak hours, this area can get extremely crowded and hectic, making it quite difficult to navigate with luggage. This can be particularly inconvenient for families with young children or those travelling with large or multiple suitcases. **Room:** The room was relatively clean and spacious, with a bathtub. However, the view was disappointing as our room faced a 民宿/local residential buildings rather than the river. The room came with basic amenities. **Service:** The front desk staff, Xin, Summer and Xiao Ma, were helpful and friendly. Fish food was provided for the kids to feed the koi while we waited for check-in, which was a nice touch. The staff also helped carry our luggage to our room and, during check-out, helped bring our luggage to the designated pick-up point where our driver could meet us. **Breakfast:** Breakfast was a set meal consisting of noodles with bamboo shoots and meat, a hard-boiled egg, corn, pickles and grapes. It was very simple and, honestly, not very tasty. We ended up leaving most of it untouched. **Add-ons / Extras:** Apparently, the minibar is complimentary, but this was not mentioned to us during check-in. Some snacks also appeared to be provided for free, although again, we were not informed about this. We also did not receive the welcome fruit mentioned on the booking website. There is a complimentary 30-minute photoshoot that includes three free photos, with the option to purchase additional photos. Unfortunately, our experience with the photoshoot was very disappointing. The photographer appeared inexperienced and struggled to find flattering angles. Many of the photos were overexposed or captured awkward facial expressions. We were quite surprised by the overall quality of the photos. **Overall:** The hotel's biggest advantage is definitely its location — being right on Shantang Street makes sightseeing extremely convenient. The staff were also helpful and accommodating. However, the difficult luggage access, crowded entrance, disappointing breakfast and poor-quality photoshoot were significant drawbacks, especially for families travelling with young children and large luggage.

The hotel package I booked this time offered exceptional value for money, packed with great perks like tickets to the Panmen Scenic Area, afternoon tea, and more—all of which were fantastic. Additionally, the hotel's design resembles an ancient palace and city wall, complete with its own Jiangnan-style classical gardens. It harmonizes beautifully with the adjacent Panmen Scenic Area just over the wall, giving it a truly unique charm. Breakfast was another highlight that deserves praise; both the Chinese and Western spreads were rich and plentiful. Overall, it was a thoroughly delightful stay.
