|0.45km from city centerThis was the most fraudulently advertised room I have ever come across. As 2 female friends we had booked a 2 bedroom suite with living area and sofa bed for our holiday, which was booked, paid for and confirmed several months in advance. When we arrived the entrance opened up to a mattress wedged against a wall in an alcove in the hallway between the bedroom and bathroom. The mattress was neither dressed as a sofa or a bed, it was simply a mattress opposite a kettle and nespresso machine (with no pods). We were shown the bedroom and asked where the other bedroom was. We were told the mattress was! This didn't even constitute a bed never mind a bedroom. The man who met us who subsequently turned out to be the manager became extremely rude and intimidating when we told him this was not what we booked & we wanted what we booked otherwise we wanted our money back. He told us we hadn't paid which was rubbish as we had proof of payment to show him and then subsequently said it was Bulls**t (his words not mine) that a 2 bedroom suite even existed. Meanwhile my friend was on the phone to the manager who said the suite was for 5 people and we were only 2. The manager was shouting at us, did not apologise once and was extremely intimidating. The room was fit for 2 people only & only a romantic couple& was v small , the bathroom was small, outdated and no bath. I noticed there was no photos of our actual room on ANY booking websites. It took hours before we got a refund and our first night was completely ruined.

|0.2km from city centerJust stayed for a couple of nights prior to moving on for another resort in Crete. Just a single door off off the street leads to a few apartments and was in such a good location - 5/10 mins walk from the main harbour area and with plenty of local shops, bakeries and bars made it a lovely welcome for us back to Crete. We were a family of four, with young children - so it’s not one for staying in and running around - but perfect for our break. There was good wifi, comfy beds and a duplex bedroom for one of the kids. Balcony was a good size, perfect for us to sit out, but only a view of the street (not a problem for us). I would recommend highly, a word of caution though - and not mentioned on the booking site - there is a lot of stairs to climb, which was ok for us, but there’s no lift, so if you have trouble climbing stairs or taking heavy bags up then perhaps not ideal.

|0.29km from city centerThe location is perfect in the old town. The rooms are well equipped and cleaned every day. The beds are comfortable. The only thing is because of the old building there is no good isolation and it is a bit noisy when someone from the street is walking…

|0.62km from city centerGreat value for money! Comfy and cozy, newly renovated 1 bedroom apartment. Great communication with the owners, easy check in- check out process.
Free parking. Close to everything, in a quiet neighbourhood.
They even added a complimentary bottle of wine 🍷.
Couldn't ask for more.
I will definitely rebook it whenever I go back to Chania, Crete.

Chania
|0.35km from city centerYou’ll walk up 50 marble steps; elevators are forbidden in Old Town. You’ll have trouble finding taxis; streets are pedestrian-only. You’ll talk with Reception by phone and email. Your reward will be one of the most magical balconies in Greece, at the top of Chania’s Old Venetian Harbor. We booked the 4th floor One-Bedroom Suite at the Elia Estia Erato building of Elia Hotels and loved every minute. Elia Hotels Group has renovated historic buildings around Chania into over 20 boutique hotels and apartments. It’s not the Ritz, but you can get that in the US. In Greece, the glitches are worth it to experience Chania up close. Old Venetian Harbor doesn’t just glitter like a storybook–it is a storybook, with more history than anything Disney could imagine. On the stairway landing was a full set of knight's armor (photo). Our balcony had a panoramic view of colorful baroque buildings, dramatic fortresses, an historic mosque and the medieval lighthouse–all reflecting in the harbor at sunset and at night (photos, video). Below us around the harbor were two dozen fine seaside restaurants. In walking distance were huge 16th century monuments to explore and beaches with even more great restaurants. Mr. Antonis Yiakoumakis, Ms. Despina Liakou, and Ms. Maria at Elia Zampeliou Hotel Reception a few streets away (which was our Reception Desk), helped us so much! They showed why Crete is famous for hospitality–even when coping with historic buildings. Historic buildings, for example, don’t have a lot of furniture. There were no drawers for clothing, no place to put modern clam-shell luggage. But when we asked for a luggage stand, they somehow got a large extra table up 3 flights of stairs for us. When I needed smaller bills, Mr. Yiakoumakis personally took me and my 50 Euro bill door to door among local tavernas as waiters whizzed by with heavy trays, until we found a cashier with change. The ambiance was superb, the local food is fantastic, and most important, the people are wonderful. If you need anything, call or email; they answer quickly. When we asked for a few extra towels, we got a weeks’ worth. When the city tore up a nearby street, Ms. Despina personally escorted us to and from our building. Need something? Just ask! :)

|0.24km from city centerWe have just got back from a great week in Chania. A big part of that was our stay at the amazing Antel Suites. Xanthia and her team were so lovely, warm and helpful and made us feel very welcome. The suite itself was so clean and pristine that it felt like we were the first people to stay there! The bed was VERY comfortable. The WiFi was good, the tv had Netflix, Prime and YouTube included (if you want something to watch during the HOT midday hours). Antel Suites is situated close to everything; less than a 10min walk to Chania old town and all of its shops, bars, and restaurants. There is a supermarket just across the road and the bus station is also just opposite. There are two beaches close by; Nea Chora is about 15 minutes walk and Koum Kapi (a small city beach) about 18mins. We found this to be perfect for us. And unlike a lot of places that are situated right in the middle of the old town, Antel doesn’t suffer from all the noise from the late-night bars etc. But the main attraction for us was the staff. They were so helpful and attentive. From the plate of home-made cake and snacks on your arrival to local recommendations. One day we put beach towels and T-shirts on the balcony to dry (worried that they might get blown away). A staff member spotted this and without us asking, someone was knocking on our door with a clothes horse for our use. So attentive! No matter how busy they were, there was always a happy greeting whenever you passed through reception. I can’t recommend Antel Suites highly enough. When we return to Chania there is only ONE place we will be staying. Thank you, Antel! X

Chania
|0.22km from city centerI booked to Elia Potie in Chania and I called the day before to ask for a shuttle from the airport to the hotel (the hotel offered this service). I asked for the driver to have a POS so I pay with a credit card. A driver came at the airport, he was nice but did not have POS because nobody from the hotel informed him about it. Thus, I had to walk with him around the city to a taxi place where his partner had the POS to pay. At the hotel and during my check in I was informed that my breakfast will not be served at my hotel but in another hotel 300 meters away. I complained because this was not written in the description of the room/hotel. Then, I had to walk with my suitcase to the hotel I booked (the check in was at the hotel where breakfast was served). When I arrived I found out that there is no elevator and I had to carry my luggage upstairs which was not possible because I broke my hand a few months ago (see pictures). I called the reception of the hotel and they told me that they do not offer groom service. I went to the room and left the suitcase downstairs. I informed the reception that either they should arrange so the suitcase is carried to my room or offer me a free cancellation. Moreover the room had a bad smell...I do not know if it is humidity or the smell from the bathroom... I also asked for a room change afterwards. The manager refused through the receptionist to offer me a free cancellation or change me room. The only thing the reception did was to send a person to carry my suitcase to my room afte two hours. Moreover, the room is above a bar and there is music playing until one a.m. Terrible experience, I do not recommend this hotel chain to anyone. The management is UNPROFESSIONAL and offer NO CUSTOMER SERVICE! Of course I informed Hotels.com immediately and they were trying to find the manager but he/she was hiding!
