The hotel was really just so-so, but its location is great. It's only a 10-minute walk to the pier for boat excursions, and there are supermarkets and restaurants all around. However, I really have to complain about the hotel's service. We were two adults and one child, and we brought our own toiletries. We just wanted to ask for one more bath towel, but the hotel refused... Honestly, it's the first time I've encountered such a stingy hotel. I wasn't trying to take it home; it's just that two towels aren't enough for three people to shower. That's easy to understand, right? Seriously, it's speechless...

My stay at 'Fairy Tale Wonderland Resort' in Semporna completely exceeded my expectations. Let's start with transportation: the hotel offers a shuttle service that picks you up directly from the airport, which was a huge convenience. The driver was incredibly friendly and even gave us tips on where to exchange money and reliable dive shops. The accommodation was fantastic. The room had wooden floors and a high ceiling, and it felt clean and dry. The bed was super soft, and the pillows weren't flat at all. The big sea turtle plushie on the bed was absolutely adorable. Both the fan and air conditioning were quiet at night, ensuring a very restful sleep. The courtyard felt like a small garden with coconut trees, flower walls, and colorful signs. It was incredibly relaxing to just sit on the woven hanging chair and zone out; every photo I took turned out beautifully. The food deserves a special mention. For dinner, we ordered steamed crab, mantis shrimp, soy-sauce steamed fish, and a plate of water spinach. The freshness was undeniable, and the cooking was perfectly executed, bringing out the natural flavors of the seafood without being overly salty or greasy. Overall, the hotel's attention to detail in service was excellent: convenient transfers, clean and comfortable rooms, and high-quality food. If you're looking for a relaxing holiday in Semporna, I highly recommend staying here.

The room is quite spacious and very clean. Check-in is on the first floor. When you go upstairs to the second floor where the rooms are, you first change into slippers, then walk down a hallway to your room. On the first floor, in the morning, there are self-service options for breakfast like coffee, milk tea, bread, and jam. On the second-floor balcony, there's a sink for washing things and a washing machine. There's also a long open-air balcony where you can dry clothes after a trip to the sea; hangers and racks are provided, which is great. The location isn't too remote either; it's about a 15-minute walk to the pier. Do note that the front desk staff doesn't speak Chinese, so you'll need to communicate in English. Also, the rooms on the second floor have private bathrooms, but you have to take a somewhat steep staircase, which might not be ideal for guests with children or the elderly. The rooms on the first floor can be a bit noisy, and it seems they all have shared bathrooms.

The B&B is very close to the pier, which made island hopping super convenient every day. The room was quite tidy, and the mattress was very comfortable. The only downside was a strong odor in the room; it was fine once the air conditioning was on, but every time we returned, the smell hit us as soon as we walked in.

We stayed for three consecutive nights, and it was absolutely fantastic! I highly recommend this place for families or couples. It boasts a beautiful tropical jungle setting, perfect for nature walks where you can spot plenty of wildlife. This is a truly excellent hotel that provides complimentary city shuttle service, making everything incredibly convenient and hassle-free. They offer personalized butler service, and the kitchen excels at preparing various seafood and delicious Cantonese cuisine – simply superb! Semporna itself is amazing! You can go hiking and take in stunning views of the emerald-green sea; make sure to seize every opportunity. Booking island hopping tours through the hotel was very cost-effective. We got two snorkeling sessions, each lasting about half an hour, and it was incredible! We saw countless fish and vibrant coral reefs. We ended up staying in Semporna for eight or nine days. The sea fishing was fantastic! We actually caught fish – small groupers and redfish, medium-sized, and plenty for a delicious dinner! We even added an arm-long mantis shrimp to our meal. It was a perfect experience! I haven't fished in ages, and I was so surprised to actually catch fish here, especially since I'd rented a fishing boat on another island in a different country before and caught absolutely nothing.

We arrived at the hotel around 12 PM, initially planning to just leave our luggage. To our pleasant surprise, the front desk staff had an available room and let us check in immediately, which was very thoughtful and accommodating. We understand that accommodations in smaller towns often have limited facilities, so we went in with realistic expectations. The room was reasonably clean, and we had brought our own disposable bed sheets and toiletries just in case. The location was also quite good, making it easy to get around.

We were a family of 3 and it was very suitable for us. They helped to store our luggage. The hotel is not very clean, but that's the condition in Semporna. There is a refrigerator. This is a homestay. You can cook. There is a washing machine. You can wash clothes after going out to sea. The little sister at the front desk is very good and helped. We cooked every day, but we had to clean up by ourselves. The boss is also nice. He invited me to eat in, but I was embarrassed because there were so many people.

At first glance, I feel that the homestay is not very good, but after staying, it feels great, very warm, and very warm. It is a caring homestay with a clean and quiet environment. There is no shortage of restaurants around. The yard is breezy during the day and the flowers are scented at night. Behind the center of the sea, I feel that the tropical rain forest is the right choice. The handsome and handsome manager speaks Cantonese. The hotel also has two fixed-point vehicles to pick up and drop off to the town center. Breakfast is different for three days. The free afternoon tea is simple, but delicious. The room Not big and clean. The first time I went to Semporna, I only booked a room. It turns out that the tropical rain forest can also be booked for a day trip to island hopping. Compared with the Internet, the site will be similar to the online booking. So I booked three islands for a day. I thought it was with other people. After joining the group, we found that it was a group of 4 of us, and three of us served us. Among them, diving guides and professional underwater photography of the thin brother Big Fei from the fat world, regardless of snorkeling and snorkeling, all followed to help take pictures, and the little black brother pulled it. The lifebuoy is always taken to watch the underwater world, and the service is extremely considerate. The next day, I reported the deep diving experience to the child. Fortunately, I haven't booked an island hopping tour online before. When booking on the spot, Brother Dafei will patiently explain to us how to play. Summarizing the tropical rain forest, I booked a homestay for two more days.

I stayed at Sipadan Inn in a room with a queen-size bed, which was sufficient for two people to stay comfortably. The room space was quite limited, but it was still cozy and suitable for a short stay. The bathroom functioned well, and overall room service was acceptable. I would rate the facilities around 8/10, mainly because the staff were not very friendly, though still okay and professional. This hotel is suitable for travelers looking for a budget-friendly stay, especially for 3–4 days, as the price matches what is offered. There are plenty of food options around the area, and you can easily find souvenirs either below the hotel or nearby. Watsons is conveniently located right next to the hotel, which is very helpful. However, do be cautious around the sidewalks, as there are sometimes children asking for money. Overall, I was satisfied with my stay.

Good reviews. It's a rare opportunity to go with my parents. It's my first time to Malaysia and I don't have much experience. I arrived early in the morning and although it's not time to check in, the boss immediately arranged for us to check in and personally took us to the town. This place basically covers all the activities of island tours. For a novice like me, this is the right choice. Also, the town is really small and the environment is a bit dirty and messy. I should book all the rooms in a homestay. The environment is beautiful and the atmosphere is leisurely. I will book this place again next time. Also, they also provide seafood processing here. The price is very affordable. The seafood bought in the town is directly processed. The taste is very nice and it cures our Chinese stomach

It takes an hour by boat from the Dragon Inn Pier in Semporna to get to Mabul Island. The hotel you booked includes a round-trip ticket. You can get on the boat to this homestay by registering at Dragon Inn R2. This is a private homestay on Mabul Island. The cost-effectiveness is relatively high. One room can accommodate three adults. It is suitable for families with children. It is much more affordable than the Mabul Island Resort Hotel next to it. There are simple meals for breakfast and some free lunch at noon. We buy fresh seafood from the Bajau people on the sea every day and let the kitchen of the homestay process it. The seafood is super cheap and fresh. The processing fee is 15-20 Malaysian ringgit. It's still good. It's also good to use the money saved from staying in the resort to buy more seafood. If you want to go to the Mabul Island Resort next to it, you can enter for 50 Malaysian ringgits per person. It's right next door. It's quite comfortable to check in, take pictures, and swim. It's a good trip to save money with children.

Stayed for a night during transit. The environment was decent, and they offer a shuttle to Semporna Jetty. The bed setup (one large, one small) was quite comfortable for sleeping. The room was clean, tidy, and odor-free. The air conditioning worked well, and the internet was fast. There was a charging pad similar to the ones you'd find in China, so you could use it if you forgot to bring an adapter. There was also a luggage rack and bedside table. We booked a twin room, which was a bit small, but the bathroom was quite spacious. There was also a large outdoor seating area, complete with cats. It was very pleasant to sit outside with a fan, enjoy a cup of tea, and work. There was also a large shared kitchen, dining area, and laundry area, making it convenient for families to shop and cook. The seafood market and pier are also within walking distance. You can book island hopping tours right at the B&B front desk, which is great for those who don't want to plan their trips. The tour guides all speak Chinese, so there's no language barrier. They also provide pick-up and drop-off services directly from the B&B. The famous Pearl Hotel seems to be just a short walk away. Supermarkets and restaurants are also nearby, making it very convenient.

I first saw this hotel recommended on a social media platform, and I personally prefer hotels a bit further from the town center. Upon arrival, it exceeded my expectations. The room itself was standard, which is understandable given the price, but it had everything we needed and was quite clean. Town facilities are generally like this, and there aren't many luxury hotels anyway. However, this one had a great rainforest vibe. On our first day, the owner patiently arranged a shuttle for us from town back to the hotel. On the second day, we were late for our island hopping tour and missed the shuttle, but the owner arranged another one for us without any complaints. On the third day, we were late again, and the owner arranged yet another car to make sure we didn't miss our island hopping trip. In the evenings at the hotel, the owner, who I believe is from Fujian, treated us to a lion dance performance and a firework show. He even generously handed out New Year's red envelopes and waived the drink charges for one person, apparently to commemorate his 6th anniversary in Malaysia. Overall, I was extremely satisfied. On our last day, we stayed in town, and it immediately felt much less appealing. You can also buy seafood and have it prepared at the hotel for 30 MYR per kilogram. Plus, this area is a private plot of land owned by the proprietor and has security, so it's very safe. Just don't go out at night; there's nothing to do out there anyway.

The front desk staff were very friendly and spoke good English. The room was quite small and basic. The balcony faced directly onto another room, so privacy was an issue when opening the door. Facilities were decent, and there was hot water for showering. There was no soundproofing, so it was quite noisy. The cleanliness was subpar and definitely needs improvement; I only felt comfortable using my own disposable bedding. I'm unsure if other overwater bungalows here have the same issue. The owner's wife was helpful with bargaining for seafood, but the cooking fee was quite expensive. The taste, however, was good. The restaurant had a nice ambiance, especially in the evenings. However, both lunch and breakfast were very basic. Breakfast was quite oily and lacked fruit. Snorkeling was 100 MYR for only half an hour, which felt like poor value for money. The pricing for activities could be much more transparent. It would be great if they clearly listed all activity costs at the front desk. I had specifically informed the owner's wife that I wanted to go snorkeling, but when I came out, I was told the boat had just left. They neither provided an exact departure time nor called us, which was quite frustrating. You couldn't directly access the sea from the room; you had to go down near the restaurant. At high tide, it was quite deep, around 2 meters. We saw starfish, and it's rumored that sea turtles appear at night, though we didn't see any. There was only one return boat trip per day. If you wanted to travel at other times, you had to charter a boat for 500 MYR. Compared to other overwater bungalows, this place is relatively cheaper. Overall, I'd say it's just about acceptable, depending on individual preferences. Personally, next time I would opt for a more expensive option with better facilities.

The hotel's primary focus on Chinese guests is evident in its services and amenities, which are predominantly in Chinese. This should be clearly stated in the hotel description on the booking websites. The villa itself is well-maintained, spacious, and equipped with everything you need. The beds and linens are of good quality, the toiletries are nice, and the bathroom is modern and clean. The air conditioner is quiet, but the external unit is quite noisy. The exterior and garden are lovely and clean. The breakfast buffet was subpar, with cold food and coffee that required guests to microwave (completely in Chinese) it themselves, which was also a major inconvenience. Yet, the variety and quality of food was good and tasty. The staff seemed indifferent to the lack of coffee and food, and the lady who came to ”check” on us only brought coffee when we asked. Overall, our stay was satisfactory, but this place definitely needs to improve its hospitality and guest service. Given the above this place is too overpriced.

Families, go for it! This is a genuine recommendation from a fellow Chinese. The 'jellyfish sea' is stunning and unobstructed, the food is delicious, and the staff are incredibly friendly. Being able to snorkel right from your room is amazing. Plus, the pool and overwater nets are super photogenic! 24-hour electricity, water, Wi-Fi, and all sorts of facilities are available and well-maintained. The value for money is truly excellent. The boat captain's driving skills are superb – no seasickness at all. The young guy on the boat is also very handsome and stylish, and he even dances during the trip. As soon as you disembark, staff greet you with a welcome drink, and they'll even hold an umbrella for you and carry your luggage. For those interested, you can also ask the boss to sing and dance! 😎

Snorkeling from the overwater villas is restricted to specific times – once in the morning and once in the afternoon. You can't just enter the sea whenever you want, and if you miss these allocated slots, you won't get to snorkel. As soon as we arrived at our overwater villa, local Bajau vendors would come by in boats to sell fresh seafood. Although meals were included, the food variety was quite limited. So, we ended up buying some seafood ourselves and had it prepared at our villa. The quality of the seafood was excellent, and the prices were very reasonable. In the evening, we were delighted to see sea turtles swimming past our terrace, which made the kids incredibly happy. These two experiences (the fresh seafood and turtle sighting) were definite highlights! Regarding the room, it's quite basic, so don't set your expectations too high. Having stayed in overwater villas in the Maldives, I must say that the Semporna ones are genuinely not cheap. There's a considerable gap – several levels of difference – in terms of pricing, in-room experience, the quality of included meals, and even the local awareness of marine conservation. Both trips were taken during the summer, and for the same cost, we enjoyed a far superior experience in the Maldives. However, the owner was very warm and welcoming, which is a big plus. Do note that upon arrival at the overwater villa, there's an additional 10 MYR tax per person, which is separate from any tourist tax already covered by the booking platform and needs to be paid additionally. This is my honest review.

Facilities: The resort is still undergoing expansion, so there were quite a few workers around the property. Cleanliness: Cleanliness was unsatisfactory; the room wasn't exactly spotless. Many in-room amenities showed significant signs of age. Environment: The environment has a strong tropical feel and local characteristics, but we encountered a lot of bugs. Service: There was practically no front desk, so don't expect traditional hotel-style service. Late checkout until 3 PM (subject to availability): This option was practically non-existent. Free shuttle service between the resort and the pier (advance booking required): This was very convenient, although the schedule was fixed. Overall: The value for money wasn't great. I booked this suite for 2500 RMB per night, but the living room wasn't directly connected to the bedroom – you had to exit the suite's main door and re-enter. To be fair, my overall stay experience this time was quite good. Pros: 1. Great environment: The natural surroundings of the water villa are beautiful. We booked a sunset room and got to see stunning sunsets every day. The water was also very clear, making snorkeling and fish-watching easy. 2. Excellent service: The staff at the water villa were all very enthusiastic and accommodating, even helping us take photos with the glass-bottom boat. We happened to be there for New Year's Eve, and the villa specially arranged extra meals, fireworks, and small souvenirs. It was very thoughtful and made my family very happy. 3. Delicious food: Four meals a day – breakfast, lunch, dinner, and afternoon tea – kept us well-fed. Cons: The room facilities were outdated, and some things were broken, like the bathroom curtain and the showerhead. Additionally, the entire water villa, including the room balcony, is covered with wooden planks. Some of the wood isn't sanded smooth, making it easy to bump into, which is very unfriendly for children. You also have to be careful when walking.

The room was spacious with a large, incredibly comfortable bed, perfect for two adults and two children. Right below our water villa, there were so many starfish, various fish, and beautiful corals. They also provided life jackets and floats for snorkeling, which was fantastic!

After shopping around, I chose to book this one. What surprised me too much was that in addition to being clean and convenient, it also allowed us to meet such a good landlord. We flew early on the day of check-in, so the arrival time was a few hours earlier than the check-in time. I contacted the landlord before to arrange the handover of the keys and inform the arrival time. Because the previous guests checked out early, the pregnant lady with a big belly personally took the staff to clean the house, just to let us check in and rest early! For the next few days, we booked with the boss. In addition to this homestay, their family has their own travel agency and hotel. It turned out that the Amway Holiday Hotel, which had not been booked before, was also theirs. It's fate to be able to stay in this Amway home this time! High cost performance! ! ! If you plan to travel to Semporna, don’t miss it...recommended

Bum Bum Island Resort is located in the outer waters of Semporna, a 45-minute speedboat ride away. The water quality is excellent, and the environment is absolutely beautiful. The wooden beach villas are spacious, each equipped with a king-size bed and a single bed, and fully furnished. The price of 1560 RMB per night includes breakfast and airport transfers from Tawau. The staff are friendly and the service is excellent. Highly recommended!

This stay truly exceeded my expectations! After comparing hotels throughout the town, this one's hygiene standards are definitely five-star. It was incredibly clean and tidy, making for a very reassuring and comfortable stay. The owner is exceptionally kind, warm, and thoughtful, and the staff's service is also very attentive and detailed, always ready to help with anything. They really went above and beyond. The hotel even provides mosquito coils and a swimming pool, showing great attention to detail. The only slight downside was that the food's flavor was just average; I hope they can improve this in the future. Overall, highly recommended!

This newly renovated hotel was such a lucky find! The room was spotless and brand new, and the bedding was super clean, just like what you'd find back home. The hotel facilities are very accommodating, no need to bring a universal adapter. The front desk staff was incredibly attentive, check-in was a breeze, and the room service was excellent. Most importantly, the location is unbeatable – KFC and Starbucks right downstairs, and you can catch a boat for excursions just across the street. A truly perfect trip. Diving was amazing!

Great value! It's incredibly convenient to walk everywhere, with the pier just a 12-minute stroll away. Plus, it comes with a private bathroom. Some folks might complain about minor things, but you can't expect the world. The room is clean, the bathroom is fully equipped for showering, and you can even dry clothes on the second floor. Honestly, what more could you ask for? I'll definitely stay here again next time. It's a mere 3-minute walk to Wangwang Suduowu, 3 minutes to KFC, and there's a small supermarket right in front of the hotel, about 10 meters away. I genuinely think it's a fantastic spot!

The location is fantastic, right by the Longmen Inn pier. There's a small balcony where you can hang things to dry. The room isn't big, but it's very clean, and the water pressure in the shower is excellent, perfect for a hot shower after diving – super comfortable! The only downside is the breakfast. There aren't many drink options, and on our last day of a three-night stay, all they had were tea eggs. I'd recommend skipping their breakfast and just grabbing something nearby. It's incredibly convenient to everything: the town's seafood market, Watson's, the supermarket, and the piers for boat trips.

First, the issues: the bathroom drainage was poor; you'd have to wait mid-shower for the water to go down. One day, the cleaning was only half-done. Breakfast was edible, at least there were eggs and bread to fill you up, but don't expect much in terms of taste. There's nothing much around the hotel. Other than that, everything else was pretty good. The service was nice and responses were quick. The room was clean, and it was quiet at night, perfect for sleeping. Although it's far from the jetty, the shuttle service was quite convenient. Compared to all the frustrating reviews for hotels near the jetty, I'm quite satisfied. I would stay here again if I come back to Semporna.

So glad I chose Alice Home! The Beijing boss is incredibly hospitable, and our remote communication was always pleasant and easy. He's super efficient! Their place was the most spacious and comfortable I found in Semporna for the same price point, and my kid even got to watch TV. The location is super convenient, close to the center and the jetty, and there are two highly-rated 4.8 Chinese and Western restaurants right outside. Plus, it's a rare quiet spot, and the entrance is well-lit. The island-hopping tour team recommended by the boss was also fantastic; they had a dedicated person accompanying my 5-year-old in the water, which made my child incredibly happy and me feel completely at ease. Next time I come, I'll definitely book in advance and only stay here! 🎉🏠
