W Amsterdam

This is one of the most underwhelming Ws I’ve stayed and I’ve stayed at close to 20 of them worldwide. The service at the hotel is, at its very best, is a two star experience. The staff was very disjointed at check in, and didn’t even bother to acknowledge my status like they do at every other Marriott property. None of my room requests were completed, even though I checked in at a normal check in time. It was seriously like they did the opposite of everything I requested online. Let’s talk about the rooms where you don’t even have room to stretch your arms. They’re tiny, and you’ll trip into the bathroom the moment you open the front door. The rooms are also very noisy, and you can hear everything your neighbor’s doing. The rooms aren’t worth the price of admission, and leave a lot to be desired considering the price point. These rooms are more on the level of an AC or even a Moxy, but the price rivals a Ritz or a St. Regis for my other Bonvoy members. The elevators were tiny, and unbelievably slow, so I hope you’re not in a hurry to go anywhere. The only redeeming parts about this hotel is the location and they have a great steakhouse. Overall, unless you enjoy burning money for no reason, I’d caution you to be smarter than me and stay at different hotel. I’m a bonvoy member and this W property has been very disappointing. It’s definitely not like the W Rome so temper your expectations. Sorry for the essay, but I thought I’d give everyone some serious cautionary advice before booking here.

Given the reviews, I was not keen to stay here, but thanks to Ajax v Napoli there were no others available. To sum up, this isn't a 5 star hotel by any stretch of the imagination. It is a 3 star hotel. Positives: - Location is superb - Architecturally stunning building - Large room (in my case, at least) - WiFi speeds are good. I was able to do video meetings from my room - Staff were pleasant and friendly Negatives: - Inside, the hotel is dark and in a state of disrepair - The kitchen closes early, and room service appears to not be possible. I was told that I should download Uber Eats if I wanted food after 10pm. - The room is tidy, but basic areas like around the sinks, bath, windows and TV were dirty - There is a smell of sewage that comes from the shower drain - The majority of channels on the TV are unavailable - There is no air conditioning. I had 2 tower fans in my room, and I had to use them both just to stay cool - No help with luggage, not that I couldn't manage myself - You get a bottle of water on the table when you check in. I had some the first night because it was so hot in the room. The second night when I was working late, I turned to open my fresh bottle. Nope! Same half empty bottle, had just been moved back to the table again. This is supposed to be a 5 star hotel! Stay somewhere else. A few weeks earlier, I stayed in the Sofitel Legend. THAT is a 5 star hotel.

I stayed her maybe 4 hours we went to sleep and then at 3 o’clock in the morning my friend woke me up because they’re was a gnawing sound/ I quickly turned on the lights , the bag of crisps my friends were eating that night had a rat inside . When I turned on the lights it ran across the table were our heads were facing and ran under the bed . My friends were screaming we went down to reception no shoes in no phones ran down. The receptionist went to check our room and placed us in a new one . We were on the top floor when this occurred they need placed us on a room on the lowest floor. If there is rats on the top floor the bottom floor would be cover with them . It was now 4 o’clock and we were afraid to get in the beds . We didn’t sleep and at 8 o’clock they told us we should go have breakfast I was gagging thinking about even eating in this hotel . We went to eat in McDonald’s to eat breakfast out of disgust of this place . Hotel Multatuli is disgusting. The manager Walter Barboza tried to give us only half of our money back as we stayed the night and of course we said we had no choice but to a stay he then gave us the full refund but it will not go into our account until 3 days and that means we have no money and no accommodation. He was no help in this situation he said that we should call our parents for help . That is ridiculous he offered us a hotel that we couldn’t not afford and then said we could continue to stay in this hotel but would have to pay for it I am extremely upset and now have lost a day of my hoilday trying to find somewhere to sleep. I strongly suggest no one stays in this hotel . Please do not eat here

This was my 2nd stay at this hotel within 1 week. Extremely happy with the service, the friendliness, the cleanliness and the general atmosphere of this hotel. Larissa at reception is the friendliest and obliging reception I have ever encountered. Vincent the maintenence man is extremely helpful with tips abt Amsterdam city and of course if anything needs to be done. The manager is helpful and always willing to answer many questions and give correct advice. To sum up I highly recommend this hotel for short or long stay. Very well priced with excellent service.

It's not our first time at the hotel. Last time was just before lockdown in 2020. Nothing has changed. it's as good as ever. We had a room at the back of the hotel this time as opposed to the front. The room was a slightly strange shape as some are here. It was spotlessly clean, beds are extremely comfortable, the shower excellent and always nice and hot. The rooms are basic but have everything you need, you don't visit Amsterdam to stay in your room. The hotel staff are excellent, friendly, helpful and very friendly, nothing is too much trouble for them. There is an excellent coffee machine in the lobby, which is free to use for guests. Breakfast, an excellent choice of hot and cold food, pastries, juices, hot drinks, well worth paying extra for. The hotel is perfectly situated in the centre. Well done again, and I'm sure we'll see you again soon.

Cool hotel, Laid back and very comfortable. Watch yourself going up and down the stairs if you have had a drink in you. Treacherous! But that is normal in old Amsterdam. I loved the neighborhood. Good place for a party. This hotel has a very pleasant cafe at the front that serves really spectacular rich continental breakfasts and excellent coffee. Friendly staff all around. Would definitely come back again on my next trip to Amsterdam!

We stayed for 4 nights. The location is fantastic. Close to station and all main areas all being a short walk away. The team were all brilliant. Welcoming and accommodating from the 1st moment we arrived. Everyone was so friendly and it is everything that you miss in most hotels. The hotel is in an original canal house with a lovely reception and the room having everything you need. We can’t recommend this hotel enough and we will be back. Congratulations to being a top destination with a brilliant team.

The greatest wickedness of all times! We were from 31.3.-02.4. in ”Hotel” Canalview, Amsterdam. However, this accommodation does not deserve the name of the hotel and is actually rather a rat hole. The hotel - hereinafter referred to as ”rat hole” - has no reception. When you arrive before 14.00 clock, you must take your baggage with you. The throat breaking stairs to the room are life-threatening and ends at the end of the stairs directly in the room. The room itself is perhaps 7 square meters large and makes the disappointment the Crown on. The view of the channel is rather a wave-paper view. Also that is angry, but here is not the problem. Toxic fungus on the bathroom deck, dirty tubes from all sides, holes and unscrewed in the corners and edges. The heating is automatically down at night, so it is only a few degrees above zero in the room early morning. The TV in the rat hole only works in Dutch. There is no room service. Not that you want to consume something in this room... but a second roll toilet paper after 36 hours would have been nice. The fact that the bed is not made is the least of the problems. The bed linen is wet and smell. From the noise level I don't want to talk at all, the walls are of paper. You hear the other residents of room 2 breathe on the hall. Unfortunately, no hotel in Amsterdam was available during the above period. Otherwise we would be Of course, it was unusual that you were on the full payment by credit card before the room was received.
