Beppu Hotels with balcony

The room was great, but the location is super remote – be prepared for a very quiet, almost deserted area. You'll need taxis to get around. Breakfast was really mediocre, and the hot springs were just okay, definitely not worth the price.

Celebrated 520 (May 20th) by booking a more upscale meal that day, and the experience was great ❤️. The location is fantastic! It's a 5-minute walk to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), so we went straight there after breakfast when it was less crowded. Regarding service, I have to say: it was the rainy season, and there were many staff members standing at the entrance, but they only bowed. It felt awkward watching adults and children run into the hotel in the rain to check in, and checking out involved carrying our own luggage in the rain too.

What an amazing place! We had a wonderful time “glamping” at the Grand Verde Resort. From first being greeted upon check in till our departure the attention to detail and hospitality were top notch! We especially loved the delicious breakfast and dinner spread, the Public Bath, and sauna, and the hobbit houses. The gorgeous views from our yurt in the mountains were breathtaking and we were able to see millions of stars at night on the clear evenings. ⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️⭐️ Five stars!!! Highly recommend this place for your next getaway!

I was a bit nervous after booking this hotel, but it turned out to be an excellent choice! The hotel is a traditional Japanese courtyard building with six rooms. It's about a 15-minute taxi ride from Beppu JR station. From the moment we entered the courtyard, we received a very warm welcome. Since we booked a room on the second floor, the staff kindly carried all our luggage to our room during check-in. You absolutely must try the dinner and breakfast included in the stay – it's incredibly good value for money! The food for both dinner and breakfast was absolutely delicious! Dinner was especially generous; we couldn't even finish it all. Plus, the wagyu beef served at dinner came with a special certificate, which was a fun touch 🤔 We arrived at the hotel at 3 PM and went straight to the hot springs after checking in. There are three private onsen: two outdoor and one indoor. I personally preferred the two outdoor ones; their design and layout are pretty similar, so either one is a great choice. You can also adjust the water temperature yourself, allowing you to soak for longer. Female guests can choose their favorite yukata at the front desk; the patterns are all beautiful and perfect for photos. The hotel's service was the best I experienced on this entire trip. The staff member who served us dinner and prepared our futons in the evening had a hearing impairment, yet they provided the most satisfying service my family and I received on this trip. Knowing I had to catch a train the next day, they proactively informed me that taxis in Beppu were currently in high demand and helped me pre-book one. I highly recommend this place for its private onsen, delicious food, and excellent service.

The previous reviews are spot on. The entrance is indeed a bit hard to find, and Google Maps doesn't quite get it right. It's actually right at the intersection of Daigaku Dori (Rikushoen) – turn in at the traffic light, at the road sign for Beppu University (see pictures 1 and 2). The staff were excellent and very thoughtful. We bought some fireworks ourselves, and they helped us set up with water and a bucket so we could light them on the sand. The shampoo and hairdryer were great! This is the only place in Beppu where you can enjoy sand baths. You can choose to just go for the sand bath, but it's super convenient to stay there and walk over. Do note that the sand bath costs extra. The room has a beautiful view and is quite spacious. It was just too hot in summer, so we didn't get to fully enjoy the private onsen. The only downside is that it's next to a main road, so it can be a bit noisy.

My husband and I stayed 3 nights here in late May 2026. And wow - this place is super impressive! This was by far the best hotel / resort we’ve stayed at during our Japan trip (nearly 3 months of traveling central and southern Japan). The rooms are spacious, extremely clean, luxurious. You have your own private indoor onsen, outdoor onsen, cold plunge tub, sauna and if in the summer, your own private pool. You have a full size kitchen, full western style living room with a TV, full Japanese style living room, multiple toilets and a beautiful bathroom. And a beautiful view overlooking Beppu below! The food is absolutely delicious. The staff and their service are professional, knowledgeable and very welcoming. It’s close to the 7 hells of Beppu attractions so it makes for an easy day trip too. And if you’re looking for a public onsen experience, its sister property is a 5 minute walk from this resort. It’s a newer establishment without many reviews yet, but take my word for it, you won’t be disappointed. We truly loved our stay here and we will definitely be back.

This is the best homestay on this trip to Kyushu. The living room and dining room are spacious enough and have large floor-to-ceiling glass. The whole is very comfortable and clean. The outdoor bath is fully used in the house. The number of rooms is also super enough. Adults and children have full game rest space, but the kitchen cannot use the oven. There is also a parking space to carry luggage in the road. There are stones that are not easy to massage. The parking space is public. Everyone stops together. Others are very good and great. It is worth staying again!

Room: neat clean space. lights and Aircon . the area between the beds is very spacious and there are large lockers so plenty of space to store your stuff . Bathroom: two normal showers and a large shower room where you can rent a bath hammock thing. three vanity sinks in this bathroom, then there's a toilet room with three toilets and three sinks, so lots of options. shampoo conditioner and body wash supplied. decent hairdryer. washing machine 300 yen, then dryer 100 yen per 15 mins. Security: pin code on dormitory. Amenities: there is a kitchen space and you can also order food from the 5th floor of the tower to the hostel lounge. Location: about ten minute walk from the station. plenty of eating places and shops nearby. there is a bus stop right outside. Other: might be useful if there were bins in the dormitory rather than having to go back and forth between the lounge. hooks in the bed area might also be useful e.g. for hanging your towel, although I suppose you could put it in your locker

Need to simplify the check-in procedure In some places, like behind the television and in certain corners, more cleaning is needed.

We stayed here as a couple and loved every moment. The room was clean, beautifully designed, and felt relaxing as soon as we walked in. After enjoying the private onsen bath made of wood and stone, we watched a movie on the projector while lying on the tatami, which felt so cozy and special. The amenities were carefully selected and felt high-quality, adding to the relaxing stay. You can tell the host cares about every detail. If you want authentic Japanese experience with your partner, this place is a perfect choice.
