The room was spacious, and the balcony was also very large with a nice view. The open-air onsen was amazing! The service was excellent. They even had massage devices for body and face. The matcha tea bags were delicious too. I felt a lot of thought went into everything.

Qian ChinCelebrated 520 (May 20th) by booking a more upscale meal that day, and the experience was great ❤️. The location is fantastic! It's a 5-minute walk to Umi Jigoku (Sea Hell), so we went straight there after breakfast when it was less crowded. Regarding service, I have to say: it was the rainy season, and there were many staff members standing at the entrance, but they only bowed. It felt awkward watching adults and children run into the hotel in the rain to check in, and checking out involved carrying our own luggage in the rain too.

The hotel's location is a bit out of the way. The ocean view from the room was okay, I guess. You're required to take off your shoes when entering the hotel, but they don't even provide disposable slippers, so the service is pretty mediocre. The front desk staff also had a very unenthusiastic attitude during check-in. The hotel tries to project an image of being very clean and upscale, but honestly, the cleanliness of the guest rooms was just average; the toilet wasn't even wiped clean and had stains.

Guest UserThis resort is perfect for young people! It's just a short walk from where the airport bus drops you off. The entire hotel is set within a park, offering low-density accommodations and high privacy, making it very quiet. The breakfast was a bit ordinary, but it's where you get your veggies in Japan! The freshly made pancakes were simple yet delicious. The private onsen (hot spring bath) was fantastic, with natural light during the day, and you could even hear birds walking on the roof. The room was spacious and well-designed, and the bedding was incredibly comfortable. The little shops in the park had great food. Plus, there's a bookstore across the street that's open until 11 PM, which was a lovely touch. I'll definitely be back!

I was a bit worried the hotel might be older than it looked in the photos, but it was actually very clean and nice! I was impressed by how clean it was when I saw that each person got a towel bag for their stay. My skin felt so soft afterwards, whether it was the water or the toiletries, I don't know! They had all the essentials like a fridge, a kettle, and toiletries. All the staff were super friendly, making it a truly great hotel. Unfortunately, I was too tired to try the on-site hot spring, so I definitely want to experience it if I visit again. If I ever come back to Beppu, I'll absolutely stay here again.

This was my second time at Hoshino, and I went with friends. Everything was excellent, from the service and facilities to the environment, cleanliness, and food. The entire building faces Beppu Bay, with a minimalist design that still feels warm. The abundant use of white space, wood, and natural light makes it feel like living in a breathing art museum. The public spaces are very quiet, even when the hotel is full, maintaining the consistent understated elegance of the ”Kai” series.

Anonymous UserIt is very near to the Beppu train station, about 3~5 minutes walking.
Breakfast is good, wide selection of Japanese and some western food.
Public bath ~ you need to walk to another Amanek Hotel, just few steps away. Nice hot pool with sauna facilities. Only complaint is the female cleaner keep coming in and out when the male guests are in the changing room and public bath. Doesn't she have better time to come and do cleaning and service? The bath area is close between late morning to afternoon.

I was very impressed with this ryokan stay. We chose a Family Room, which comfortably accommodated four of us. The room had two air conditioners, keeping it pleasantly cool throughout our stay. The overall atmosphere was warm and peaceful, truly ideal for a relaxing getaway.
The service was also very impressive, especially from the elderly gentleman and the male staff member who gave excellent advice. They were attentive and friendly. The other female staff were also lovely and provided equally great service.
The ryokan also has an onsen for a relaxing soak, and the location is convenient, with easy access to a nearby mall close to Beppu Tower.
Overall, it was a very memorable ryokan experience, and it's a place I'd love to visit again.

Moon RockThe staff is friendly and speaks English well; the place is quiet and cozy, and the location is perfect. It’s almost a distance to Beppu tourist attractions, especially the Beppu tower and Beppu JR stations. The hostel is also located near the port area, where you can relax and take a break.
The hostel also has a cafe, a spacious kitchen, and an artificial hot spring. Although some amenities are not included, you have to purchase them at the front desk, the accommodation cost is relatively cheap, so that’s okay. It's a good thing I have my own towels and other amenities.
I will definitely be back here when I return.

I've stayed here before, and this time I brought a friend and booked a larger room. It's a historic inn, but the building and decor don't feel old at all. The Japanese-style room has a really nice vibe, and the smell of the tatami mats is so soothing. The room itself is incredibly spacious; I honestly think three or four people could comfortably stay in that one large tatami room. On the top floor, there's a hot spring with one indoor bath, a small outdoor bath, and a small sauna, all using natural hot spring water. The breakfast selection isn't huge, but all the dishes are local specialties or popular items from Oita Prefecture, so you'll definitely eat well and feel full. The downstairs parking used to be free, but now it costs 700 yen per night.
