Montien Hotel Surawong Bangkok

Silom/Sathon Bangkok|0.44km from Hock Shark Fins Restaurant
I had the pleasure of staying at The Montien for 3 weeks 2 months ago when on a company-booked trip. My room and bed were extremely comfortable and spacious, with plenty of natural light and unobstructed views, quality amenities including a Nespresso machine. The Montien decor is modern, Thai style and beautiful. The breakfast buffet is bountiful, with plenty of variety. Pierre Pelletier, the Area General Manager and his team went above and beyond to ensure my stay was outstanding! Then this month when my family and I planned a vacation to Bangkok I picked this hotel as our base. The hotel is conveniently located for easy access to the sky and underground trains, many must-go-to restaurants, cafes, Siam Paragon, temples, Chinatown, night walks and more. We were welcomed with incredible 5-star Thai hospitality. Special mention to Khun Nu, her front desk team and night manager Khun Jew for handling flight delays, airport transfers and arranging pick up of lost luggage, Khun Tik for his world-class warm welcomes, Max’s regular assistance and taxi coordination, the ever-helpful and polite bellmen, Beer remembering our morning coffee preferences, Kae at Ruenton restaurant for looking after us at dinners, friendly Tanya at the lobby bar, the housekeeping team for keeping our 3 rooms impeccable and everyone who made our Bangkok vacation so memorable! It felt like our home away from home and we enjoyed our time here so much!

The Standard Hotel, Bangkok: Not your standard but of exacting exalted standards. I’m a loyalist to Standard Hotel LA Downtown. It has a bit of an irreverent and non-conformist verve - attracting a gamut of characters from the ultra pretentious to the authentically creative or artistic types. It is flashy, LGBT embracing, unapologetic, over the top, form defying, stylish, excessive, extravagant, wanton and bursting with character. Hence it will always be a magnet for characters and drug-fuelled-all-nighter parties but you can expect a scrubbed-clean version in BKK. I flew to Bangkok specifically for the new Standard Hotel - I’ve been dying to check this out. It absolutely doesn’t disappoint. You do get hordes of pretentious IG-ers or alleged annoying influencers doing their 3 hour shoots. But if you got a creative eye like I do and genuinely appreciate solid architecture, offbeat interior styling and intricate art pieces then this place is heaven for you. The style is a mash-up of the most daring and eclectic seemingly mismatched pieces that miraculously come woven together to create a signature style. It is so incredible. There’s no ordinary here - the commanding ceiling art piece outside The Standard Grill restaurant is so technically remarkable I stood there to drink up all the details. It’s so layered here - I feel that the vanity of the superfluous influencers robbed the true meticulous design considerations. I can go at lengths about the styling but I’ll just state that you should deconstruct every element and wow your senses. Everything is modestly sized - pool. Steam room, restaurant, bars, etc. Restaurants are an experience unlike any other - Ojo is mex glam meets Jetson futuristic posh. Tease is a popup fairy tale afternoon tea delight. Mott 32 is chinois haute glam. Standard Grill is tailored classiness. The Parlor is a riot of styles. They are all so exciting. What’s even better is the incredible service. There are some hits and misses but the staff genuinely strive to please. Tina who is busy darting around at the reception, lobby and everywhere is saccharine sweet and effervescent. We nearly missed our flight when the sky emptied and no cabs were found. She so very coolly and humorously handled our mini crisis with such panache, we were so impressed. Look past the superficial influencers or pretentious wannabes. Come and blow your senses out with an experience you should bucket list. #eatstylishtravelstylish

I personally recommend this youth hostel. The location is very convenient. BTS and MRT are both within a ten-minute walk. There are 7-11 and various food restaurants next to it. Maybe because it just opened, not many people know about it. The bed is pretty good as I have slept in a youth hostel. The air-conditioning is also very strong. The boss can speak a little Chinese, but some parts may need to be improved. For example, there is no shared refrigerator, and there may be fewer guests now, so the bathroom and toilet are not open. It's air-conditioned, so you may have to take a shower after going to the toilet, because it's too stuffy. Although there are windows to the outside, it's not very effective. I think everything else is perfect. The beds in the youth hostel can have an LG TV and Internet. The speeds are quite good. Breakfast depends on the people. You can choose between a cup of coffee and the bread of the day in the cafe. Personally, I don’t think you need to buy breakfast. Overall, you may need to take care of your valuables when staying in this kind of youth hostel. After all, there are other guests in custody, because when I checked in, I found that a mainland guest's things seemed to have been stolen. I don't know the details, but I saw the police come to deal with it. Later, the guest also went to the police station to take notes. The main reason was that I I think their card does not have floor control settings. With one card, you can enter any room on the second or third floor. Maybe the store needs to pay attention to this and change it to make it safer. Otherwise, I think I highly recommend this hotel for its price, location and overall facilities! !

The location is very good, not far from the central area. There is a coffee shop on the first floor, which is convenient for communication. The young waiter at night had a very good attitude, but the couple (?) during the day had a very average attitude. The hotel also charged a 200 baht deposit. I stayed in a single room, which couldn't be any smaller. Young people who like youth hostels can go experience it. If your income is acceptable, you can stay in an ordinary hotel if you pay more.

The hotel staff at the check in desk were extremely friendly and welcoming! We arrived later than expected and they were just on top of everything! 5/5 The room was also very comfortable and suitable if you going for a quick weekend or business trip. 5/5 Breakfast was fantastic! 4/5 The bar and rooftop pool is nice. I wish the pool had been a little bit bigger but it was still enjoyable. More lounge seating to catch some sun is definitely needed. 3/5

Most popular destinations, like MBK, Chinatown, and Pratunam, are just a 10-15 minute bike ride away, making it incredibly convenient from Red Planet Hotel. You'll also find a variety of restaurants and a 7-11 nearby, ensuring you won't go hungry during your stay. While the hotel card is user-friendly, occasionally, there might be Wi-Fi issues, but the staff is always friendly and ready to assist. The hotel room features a simple design, and there's ample space under the bed for luggage storage. Even if you have an oversized suitcase, it won't obstruct your walking area. Good stay here, recommended!

The location is diagonally opposite the Red Planet, the closest to the Chongwaran Shi Light Rail Station. Chongwaran Shi will come to the left hand side of the second crossroads and turn right. Go to Papong Night Market and Japan Street. Several massage shops nearby can be enjoyed.

Excellent hotel, very close to the Russian consulate. Very clean, in front of the stairs leading to the room, I used to take off my shoes, but provided slippers. There is a kettle in the room and 2 bottles of water are provided every day. Tea, coffee, cream and biscuits are available for guests near the reception. The friendly host will answer all your questions and provide suggestions. The most important thing is that it is allowed to live with dogs. This is the first time I have found it so close to the embassy, even the price is very cheap! I will only book there next time. I recommend it to everyone (even if there are no animals).
