Hampton Inn Carlsbad-North San Diego County

Carlsbad|1.4km from Alga Norte Community Park
Located almost opposite to the McClellan Palomar airport, the Hampton Inn is a good option to stay in Carlsbad. The hotel is located almost 3 miles from Interstate 5, but the road connecting the hotel to the highway, Palomar Airport road, is pretty wide and I found that it can get you to/from the interstate fairly quickly. The check-in experience was smooth. Andrew, who was at the front desk, was able to give us a room earlier than their usual check-in time because we had called ahead earlier to say that we will be arriving prior to the hotel's 3 PM check-in time. The room was a standard Hampton Inn room, decent sized and some adequate toiletries in the bathroom. However, the Wi-Fi strength was very bad in our room and when I informed the front desk about that, they were able to change my room to a different room the next day morning, closer to the center of the hallway where the routers were placed. While the signal strength was better there and I was able to connect and use it for work, there were occasional instances of the Wi-Fi cutting out disconnecting my laptop. The beds were comfortable, there was little noise as almost all of the property barring the front portion, faces away from the main road. There was a microwave and mini fridge in my room. The complimentary breakfast was really good during my stay here - there were some items that varied from day-to-day. There were eggs, bacon, sausage links, waffles, bread, muffins, oatmeal, cereals and fresh fruit on offer on all days. They also served biscuit and gravy for breakfast one day. It was a fairly good spread, something that I have come to expect from Hampton Inn! I did check out the hotel pool, it was a fairly basic outdoor pool and they had pool towels available at the front desk. I wouldn't term the pool very appealing but hey, the Pacific Ocean is quite nearby! There are a few restaurants nearby to grab food. It would also be a miss from my part if I didn't specially mention the staff at the front desk, who were always available with a smile and helped me with an early check-in and late check-out because of my travel plans - kudos to everyone going the extra mile! There are a few cons though, I did feel that the property is a little bit older than some of the Hampton Inns that I have stayed at in the past. I was a little surprised by the lack of sanitizing stations at the hotel, especially near the front desk/breakfast areas. While they did have hand sanitizing stations, they were non-functional and that isn't good. I would also encourage the property to take a closer look at Wi-Fi and internet speeds at different rooms - in this competitive environment, these points can hold sway on whether a traveler chooses to stay in a property or not.

Holiday Inn Carlsbad/San Diego, an IHG Hotel

Carlsbad|1.57km from Alga Norte Community Park
Booked a two night stay here when I was in the San Diego area for work. While the property is aging, I can see that they try to maintain its upkeep pretty well. Unfortunately, there were some issues of concern that made the experience less than amazing. I wasn't expecting an Intercontinental (I've stayed at two ICs this past year) - but being that it is part of the IHG, I was expecting at least decent service. Pros: * The IHG website/app were having issues due to the hack. I finally was able to book a reservation, but called the morning of to confirm. Todd was friendly and efficient, was able to confirm my reservation (booked directly through the hotel), view preferences and noted my late checkout request. * Lili was the front desk agent when I checked in. She was friendly, efficient, knowledgeable. She also was able to notate my late checkout request for 2pm. * I reached out to Lili shortly after checking into my room and noticed what looked like pet hairs (see attached photos) in a corner of the room. She expressed genuine concern after I showed her the photos, and had Yolanda stop by with a vacuum cleaner. * Centrally located to groceries and restaurants (walking distance to Trader Joe's!). * Courtyard view rooms have better noise insulation from the road - a good thing considering that the hotel property fronts a major roadway (Palomar Airport Road). * Rooms have a mini-fridge, which is helpful since most hotels don't offer one. * The hotel's on-site restaurant, Stratus - was open everyday for breakfast/dinner - their buttermilk pancakes are great. Cons: * The pet hair situation led me to wonder what other shortcuts was taken (or not taken) in turning over the room. If you look at the photos, this wasn't a stray pet hair here and there - the amount of hair should've been noticeable if the turnover was just a bit more thorough. * The wireless internet kept cutting out throughout the stay. I'm not sure where the router is, but perhaps the hotel can consider adding a few wireless access points throughout the property, since the signal kept getting dropped. * The walls are thin. I was next to a guy that played his TV on at full blast - it sounded like a concert every night. I could hear vividly his phone conversations (colorful language) too. * Late checkout was inconsistent. Todd noted my request initially over the phone - he said he would be able to offer 1:30pm. Lili upon checkin, confirmed it for 2pm. My card stopped working at 12:30pm when I left to move some of my belongings to my car. I waited behind 3 other guests before I was able to be helped and Veronica asked if I was still checking out at 1pm. I mentioned the later time that Lili offered and even pointed out that had my card still worked, I wouldn't have lost 30 minutes waiting in line and probably would've been able to check out by 1pm. * When I finally managed to get back into my room to remove the rest of my stuff, I went back down to the front desk. Which had four

My wife and I like Marriot properties, and have stayed at several. We recently joined the Bonvoy club. This hotel is our least favorite. We came to San Diego for a wedding in Vista, about 25 minutes away. I booked this hotel on brand reputation. I should have read the reviews. Lesson learned. The property is in a business area, close to the local airport. It looks OK from the outside, nothing special. They allowed us to check in early, which we appreciated. The young woman at the front desk was friendly and pleasant. She asked us if we wanted a balcony. We liked that. We were on the 2nd floor. Lo and behold, we quickly found out that, starting on the 3rd floor, and seemingly right above us, they are starting a renovation. For the 1.5 hours before we left for the wedding, we were treated to jackhammering and drilling. I had a headache and this did not help. My wife wanted to take a nap. Not happening. Called the front desk and asked to be moved. No can do. The clerk apologized and offered us extra points and a free breakfast (did I mention that there is no complimentary food, just a Starbucks type establishment called the Bistro?) but the breakfast reviews were not good so we passed. The rest of the night was uneventful. AC was good, bed was comfortable, shower was fine. Furniture is outdated and worn, hence the renovation. The next morning, now Sunday, construction commenced again at 8:30. In addition, we received a bulletin telling us that the water would be turned off from 11 am to 3 pm. We were extremely disappointed, being unable to enjoy a nice, quiet room. Upon check-out(early, of course), my wife mentioned our dissatisfaction to the front desk clerk, a nice young man named Abdias that identified himself as a manager. He was gracious enough to take $100 off the cost of the room, which we appreciated. Still, my recommendation is to avoid this hotel for now. They are just getting started on the renovation, starting with the top floor and working their way down. It will be awhile before it is finished.

The front desk service was huge. We arrived at the hotel at around 12 o'clock in the evening. We had a long-distance drive all day. We thought that the sheraton service could not be bad. I knew that the front desk was a fat white man. When I checked in, I kept rolling my eyes all the time. When I applied for membership, I was too sleepy and didn't respond. I asked a question. The front desk immediately replied, ”I am very busy today, don't ask me to see it yourself.” At that time, I thought it might be too late. The front desk had emotions, and it was true that in April, it was obvious that the trash was a hostile phenomenon. After the completion of the process, I did not tell me how to find the room, just an understatement, ”Go through the door.” As a result, there was only 3 floors in the back of the lobby, and our room number was 50. I asked him back. He confirmed that he was on the 5th floor. He immediately left the lobby and told him not to look back. In desperation, I had to bite the scalp on the third floor. Fortunately, I met a couple of black couples who went downstairs to buy wine in the middle of the night. They were very friendly and said that they also found a room for a long time during the day. The actual situation is that the sheraton hotel and the next resort share the lobby and porch. You need to go upstairs through the hotel room corridor, find a glass door at the end, swipe the card and then take the elevator to the resort floor. On the night of the check-in, I sent a complaint letter to the Shereton complaint mailbox. It has been two months since I saw it. Today I saw the app reminder comment. The disgusting feeling of Lima is coming to the fore, and I have to give a bad review.

This hotel is definitely the king of cost-effective hotels in the United States. First of all, the hotel is very new and the rooms are large. The hotel is kept clean and friendly. The resort in San Diego where I lived before was really housekeep. The resort fee can be exchanged for coupons that can be used in restaurants in the hotel. This hotel is especially suitable for bringing children. It is walking distance to Legoland. There is a sea of flowers next to it that is very suitable for taking pictures. The hotel has a parent-child swimming pool and entertainment facilities, and the hotel also has various parent-child activities. The entire hotel area is also very large, and the view of the swimming pool behind the hotel lobby is absolutely amazing. Next to the hotel is a very famous local beer restaurant, which has a lot of food made with beer. Strong push

The location is half an hour's drive from SD. If you are a nearby resident, it would be more suitable for a vacation. The hotel facilities are relatively new, but there are few surrounding supporting facilities. It is suitable for lounging in the hotel. The beach and other entertainment facilities are also average. This is the only hotel in the United States that can It's alila if you're bringing children. It's not recommended to bring children. There's not much to do.
