Waited 20 mins to be booked in by the lady.( phoned a 3times before somebody turned up to the reception) Room way too expensive.. Only had a drink : bar service was slow even the place was empty .. Upside the amazing view from the room. Never left review before ,but this place needs improvement and could be amazing ..

I must say this 2 star review is only because one member of staff by the nam of Simon. Had I have draft solely with Tom it would have been 5 star. I entered at 12pm and could have sat anywhere...window restaurant seat or bar area. I selected a high stool area. Tom was friendly, polite and went the extra mile and even swapped a dirty glass which I had noticed. Whilst halfway into my drawn cocktail I asked Simon if I could order the same again drink please and was very rudely told no, you need to go to the bat, whilst halfway through my food. His tone was extremely rid wand on that basis will not be returning or recommending. Shame as Tom is an assett

Really enjoyed a family meal here, great food and wine. I would definitely recommend the lamb shank. We will definitely be coming back again soon. The service was also of a very high standard, in particular from Lewis who went the extra mile for us.

With great help from the events team (Karen), the Rising Sun was a great location for our group of 34 with ten rooms for overnight and easy access to Cheltenham and walking Cleeve Hill. Spacious function room with westward views over the Vale, and good menu and drinks choices. We opted for bar classics, with good sized portions plus some from the specials menu. We had planned all whilst being remote and on arrival everything was as requested, with day staff checking final details and the evening team (Tom and Jess) ensuring all requests were accommodated. We didn't need to worry about details, we could ask and things happened. Huge breakfast for 20 the next morning and a strong recommendation to use the Rising Sun Hotel on Cleeve Hill.

we had dinner at the Pub , nicely decorated and good service but the food need attention . First my wife asked for salmon and 10 minutes later they say they do not have it, she got fish and chips and the fish was not good at all. The mushroom soup was excellent but the Lasagna was really bad, overcooked, not juicy and I ate it coz I was hungry. The brownie was horrible I left it . The place, the location and the area are really beautiful so please raise the food standards .

Really lovely stay, excellent breakfast and dinner, pleasant and friendly staff, clean bedroom with comfy bed, the most stunning views and well placed for beautiful walks. Good range of beers and ciders. We will definitely visit again. It will be even better once it’s had a bit of a renovate!

We came for a Sunday roast at about 1pm, and it was fantastic! We all left extremely full and happy. I had the beef which was beautiful, my Nan had the roast pork which she loved and my partner had the turkey which wasn’t dry at all! We are gravy lovers and there was more than enough gravy which was brilliant. Our waiter was very attentive too, nothing was too much trouble, we didn’t catch his name but he was young and blonde.

After living in Cheltenham for years and going here for meals often, we decided to visit friends and book in to stay here. We decided on the all in package of bed breakfast and evening meal. Wow we were not disappointed and will highly recommend staying and having the full package ! Evening meal is actually a 3 course dinner ,breakfast was just as amazing 👌 On walking in to our room for the evening,believe me I’ve stayed in a lot of hotels some costing an arm and a leg , this is the one that smelt amazing and straight away you see how clean it is as well ,beds are so clean and comfortable,the views are just breathtaking, the staff are so friendly,in fact for the first time in my life (I’m over 50 ) I have Not One Complaint ! Highly recommend every aspect of this Hotel ….

Just got back from a 2 day stay at the rising sun hotel it was our second visit here We stay here for new years eve and for new years day racing at Cheltenham Can't fault this hotel at all simon and his team are all fabulous very polite very informative of the area the hotel food was really really good the breakfast is so tasty and filling Just want to say thankyou to Simon and the team there was 10 of us in our group we had a fantastic time see you all again 👏❤️
