Kolakham - the Himalayan Retreat

Located in the charming village of Kolkham, it provides a breathtaking view of snow-capped peaks, green valleys, and sparkling waterfalls. Its secluded setting, which radiates tranquility and solitude, adds to its allure. Rooms are elegantly decorated with traditional elements that are well-appointed. After a day of enjoying the surrounding natural beauties, we got a restful night's sleep in the comfy beds and warm atmosphere. Rooms have an amazing view of the valleys and mountains, so got up to breath-taking views every morning. The team really went above and beyond and their hospitality is remarkable. We received warm greetings at arrival and customized care throughout our stay. They were constantly available to help with any inquiries or offer insightful information on the sights and things to do in the area. They provided delicious regional food with genuine flavors from the use of fresh products from local farmers. The Himalayan Retreat offers a range of activities for guests who want to explore the surrounding area. There are several options, such as taking guided treks ***** picturesque paths, visiting nearby monasteries and temples, or simply relaxing in the vast outdoors. One can spend hours admiring plants in their well decorated Patio and Plants nursery or spend time painting rocks at their Art Studio, buy souvenirs, play musical instruments, enjoy board games, access library, karaoke and even rent local dresses. This retreat promises a revitalizing experience, whether you decide to meditate in the peace and quiet of nature or just relax with a cup of tea on the terrace.

It was a great experience. My wife and I stayed here for a short break with no pre-plan. We were to go back to Siliguri the same day and just stopped by while returning and couldn’t resist staying here for a night. The room was comfortable, clean and quiet. Breakfast was great and the dinner was first class. The service was friendly and helpful and the views from everywhere in the property are splendid.

Location is perfect, with lovely views of the Mt. Kanchanjunga from anywhere in the property – be it the dining area, garden, Terrace and Rooms. The rooms are spacious and bed was comfy. And the best part is loads of running hot water in the taps from centralized solar geysers in nice and clean bathrooms – something rare in hills. Lovely, filling breakfast in the morning. Amazing and huge collection of plants in the nursery and garden. A workshop area where art work is done. A musical and arty place…! We will be back again in the future.

I cannot put into words how spectacular this place is. The staff are amazing and nothing is too much trouble. The views just go on forever and are gorgeous. We arrived very early and were accommodated, so decided to sit at the terrace and have tea. Though the views are very pretty from anywhere in the property, their terrace needs special mention. Round spacious terrace in the middle of valley and overseeing mountains, rivers, waterfalls and Kanchanjunga. The bedroom we stayed in, “Sevani” was beautiful and the bed was extremely comfortable. The only downside of our visit was that we had to leave!

The Himalayan Retreat is worth every penny, from their services, foods to activites they organised.all was add on to our 2 day stay.Do give a visit, recommended. Mr. Harsh and his team was always available at our services. We visit again soon
