Hotel Alinari is in a very convenient location just steps from Santa Maria Novella Station and only a short walk to the Central Market and numerous reasonably priced restaurants. It’s location might be off putting to some people as there is no huge lighted sign on the street telling you it’s there. You have to look for a much smaller sign in the street and elk into the ground level courtyard to see that it’s on the 4th floor. Take the elevator up to 4 but you might have to wait for it a bit. Patience pays off though as the proprietor and all of his staff are friendly and eager to help. Breakfast is substantial enough served by more friendly employees. Hotel Alinari provides good value in my opinion. Robert from Missouri USA

The room has a sense of design. Although it is not very big, it is very warm and comfortable. The only problem with this room type is that it is on the half floor and needs to go down a very narrow staircase. There are still several steps in the room. Big boxes are very unfriendly! The breakfast is still very good, you can sit outside and feel it.

The location is perfect, it's all very close to a few steps. The staff is very available and kind to feel like at home. The only difficulty can be a staircase to get to the lift, but with the baggage they help you. My room was a little small but with all the comforts, only the light in the bathroom is a little low you can't see well to stay, but with chromotherapy effects. I'll return 😊

When we arrived at Hotel La Gemma, it had been opened a grand total of 15 days. But no one could tell because Gianluca, the Hotel Manager, was in charge and everything was already in full swing and running smoothly. Gianluca himself showed us to our suite and made us feel welcomed. He was warm, engaging and very helpful throughout our 3-night stay. He even showed me how to make the stamps stick on my postcard by gently peeling off the back of them - they were adhesive like stickers. Before Gianluca came to the rescue, I was licking the back of the stamps like a fast-melting gelato but they still wouldn't stick. Gianluca also patiently walked me through the Tren Italia website to book our train tickets to Venice - all on my mobile phone. Eduardo at the Front Desk was earnest, lively and of great assistance. At breakfast, Luca the waiter was very good at explaining the extensive menu and choices available. He was solicitous and anticipated our needs. We missed him when he was not on duty. The hotel’s location is excellent, right in the heart of Florence and a stone’s throw from the Post Office. It is a very short walk to Piazza Republica, Ponte Vecchio and the beautiful landscape of the River Arno. The rooms are very well-appointed; huge comfy beds with fluffy pillows, a wide array of fragrant toiletries and, thick body-encompassing towels. The impression is one of old-world sophistication and luxury. We really enjoyed our stay and look forward to returning to Hotel La Gemma.

The Calimala is perfectly situated to all of the sites in Florence. But, more than that, I can't say enough great things about the staff at Calimala. I (don't judge me) decided to drive from Positano to Florence. When I arrived in Florence the streets were so busy and I was lost. I phoned the hotel and was fortunate to speak with Lavinia who stayed on the phone with me and guided me all the way to the hotel. It took quite awhile because of all of the one way streets. Jessica was also extremely helpful in the morning to return the car. She spoke with the taxi driver so, that he knew I would follow him to return the car and assisted with getting the driver and anything else we needed. Stephano was also extremely helpful and courteous. We went to the Angel Restaurant Rooftop each night for drinks and one night for dinner. There George was our ”person”. He ensured we had a seat and took care of our drink orders with professionalism, courtesy, and a sense of humor. Thank you to the entire team at Calimala! I arrived with my septuagenarian parents on April 27 for a week-long stay. The hotel provided us with the right room classification on arrival, but I was concerned that the suite was single bathroom instead of two and the closet space was not optimal for our needs. Annamaria, Victoria and Samuele stand out as front office staff who listened and acted swiftly to help address our request for help and resolved the issue the next day. That was the first wow moment of our stay. I also recommend the breakfast (came with our reservation package) and you should take advantage of the Rooftop Bar, the view of the Duomo and across the city 360 degress is suberb. After 10+ visits to Florence, this hotel has become my new preferred location and I anticipate returning here in the years to come.

This was my first hostel experience on my own and it was soooo good! I felt very safe, staff super friendly, the room and common areas had everything you could ever need! Locker in the room was huge... I had enough space to keep all my things safe, but you need to bring your own padlock (maybe the hostel could make that clear on the booking? although I was prepared, another lady in the room was not ;)). Location great, very close to station (but far enough away that it wasn't a problem....), very close to the sites, restaurants and bars. I would happily return to an Ostello Bello! Grazie

Mosquitos! Two out of the three nights we were at this hotel we had mosquitos in our room. We got bit multiple times and let the front the desk know at check out and she said that there was a mosquito machine to keep them out on the wardrobe, which we didn’t have or see. At check in they did not notify us of this mosquito machine or mention it in our welcome letter that they give you about key codes etc. They were unwilling to compensate and acted like we were supposed to know that we were going to be dealing with mosquitos in a hotel room? Obviously if you have a mosquito machine in your rooms, you have a bug problem!! I know Italy is filled with old buildings but bugs shouldn’t be in a hotel period, regardless. Also, there is no front desk staff at night, so if anything happens you are screwed. The room is very bare bones and you have to sit sideways on the toilet because it’s so small, ( but this isn’t too uncommon in Europe). I would not recommend this mosquito motel to anyone. Wish we spent a little more for a better place to stay.

This is the most convenient hotel I stayed in during my trip. It is located next to the most beautiful church ⛪️, and it takes only 2 minutes to walk there~ Although it is located in a commercial street, I can't hear the noise outside at all. The sound insulation effect is still very good (of course, my husband is a very light sleeper, and he can still hear some noise around 1:00 in the morning. Wearing earplugs, there is no problem at all). In addition to the convenient location, there are also services , the lady at the front desk greeted you very warmly, and finally stored the luggage. Before we could say anything, she asked us if we needed to store our luggage. Make you happy all the way~Thank you~

I stayed at the San Giorgio for two nights with my girlfriend, as we were in town for her birthday. I was already positively impressed when I booked, because the price was great for such a central hotel; obviously, however, a low price can be a double-edged sword, so when we got there (following a 3-minute walk from the Santa Maria Novella train station) I was a little wary of potential issues with the place – lo and behold, my misgivings were almost entirely baseless. I mean, I'm not gonna lie, the place isn't high-end: it's a little too dark and heavy on curtains/draperies, the toilet in our room was too close to the wall so that it couldn't be opened fully, and the Wi-Fi on the fourth floor was dodgy at timea. What we found, on the other hand, was a very tight-knit staff that was always kind and available, even before our check-in and after our check-out. Moreover, our bed was remade and our towels were replaced every morning, something I don't take for granted in a 3-star hotel. Finally, the 7:30 breakfast was nothing too fancy but did its job very well, especially thanks to the waiters who were always ready to greet newcomers and to offer coffee. All in all, I was pleasantly surprised (I know I sound condescending but my praise is genuine) and I would definitely come back if I were in town for a short period of time.
