Hotels in Kawaramachi/Karasuma/Omiya, Kyoto

An unexpected incident occurred when I first arrived at the hotel. The order information was ”Kyoto Gojo Livemax Hotel”. The map navigation of the order was correct, but when I arrived at the hotel, there was no reservation information. Since I was unfamiliar with the place, I first asked the hotel staff to help confirm the reservation. The address and phone number are not theirs, and then ask the hotel staff to help find out where the address is? Then it was confirmed that it was ”Nijo Castle Livemax Hotel”, and I asked a ********* friend to contact the website to confirm. It was confirmed that the information was incorrect. I hope the website can strengthen it to prevent similar incidents from happening again. I thought I was going to sleep on the street. The hotel is not far from the JR station, so transportation is convenient. It is also clean and tidy. Even though it is a smoking room, there is no smell of smoke when you check in. If you need to change towels, you have to go to the counter to get them.

Spacious hotel rooms considering the usual room size in Japan! I personally love the separated dry & wet bathroom. There’s free flow of hot & cold drinks and bathroom amenities located on the lobby which you can collect everyday! Nijo station is just across the road, you can even see it from the hotel! Friendly & helpful receptionist whenever I need helps! Tips: you can ask the receptionist for luggage transfer service (they will give you a card, you just need to scan the barcode & follow the instructions for reservation), I used it for my luggage transfer to Osaka (currently there’s a promotion where you can use the promo code for free luggage service transfer, for up to first 100 redemption per day). Overall I highly recommend this hotel for your stay in Kyoto!

We used it during the autumn leaves tour in Kyoto. The location is near Nijo Jo castle, there is a convenience store nearby, and it is within walking distance from Arashiden Shijo Omiya station to go to Arashiyama. The construction is the same as the general business hotel, and the rooms are small but cheap, so it seems to be often used in business other than sightseeing. １ There is a large bath on the floor so you can stretch your legs and take the day's fatigue. Of course there are also free ＷＩＦＩ. In addition, since you can have free curry rice from １８, I went to the night view tour of Kiyomizu Dera temple on this day. The location and cospa are good, so it is perfect for sightseeing.

I highly recommend this hotel! Location: it is in a hip part of Kyoto and steps away from the subway line, a craft beer bar and Convini. Room: rooms are spacious and comfortable. I love the modern decor and simplicity. I loved the bathroom, particularly the water pressure and of course the Japanese toilets. There’s a pullout sofa, table for eating or working and a tv. Our room was in the back so it was quiet but we would hear the garbage trucks at 5:45 am. Not ideal if you want to sleep in. Fortunately we were always up early. Breakfast: the breakfast is amazing. A lot of western and Japanese options. Lobby: the staff are very helpful and courteous. Extra toiletries can be found on the counter, two espresso machines can be found in the lobby, and three washer/dryers(coin operated) are found near the elevators. We loved being able to pack only a carry on and wash clothes during our trip. Overall, highly recommend!

Very nice boutique hotel near Nijo castle. A short distance away from busy downtown areas. Walking distance to Nijo Castle. Very convenient to east west and north south bus lines. We could walk a block from our room and catch a nonstop bus to most of the major attractions. Lots of local restaurants a short walk away including tripadvisors top sushi restaurant. (It’s basically across a one lane street, you could literally wait in your room for a seat.) Staff was exceptionally kind, friendly and helpful, They reached out to us on several occasions to help us with accomodations, getting around and local events we probably would have missed if they hadn’t told us. We only planned on staying a few nights but our plans changed and we ended up spending 10 nights. Our room was very reasonably priced. We started to feel more like local residents rather than tourists just passing through and the staff was largely responsible for that. Rooms were very nicely decorated with a sort of mixed Japanese/western feel. Netflix on tv. Smaller rooms seem slightly larger than average in Kyoto. Larger rooms are very nice, the twin beds in these rooms were pretty close to a US double. Very comfortable mattresses. Bathrooms with showers and tubs. Only continental breakfast available and not a lot of other options nearby. The continental breakfast was very limited, soup, salad, bread, cereal, fruit, yogurt, coffee, juice, but also surprisingly good. We really enjoyed our stay and would gladly go back.

We were a group of 6 people staying at the Hotel Mitsui on a trek through Japan. Suffice it to say, that the group was all pleased that we stayed here. Our initial check in process was a bit bumpy (no tea service) as it was clear everyone was checking into the hotel for a holiday weekend. However, within 30 minutes, we were all on our way to our rooms. Overall, the hotel and the rooms are designed in muted tones and a modern zen vibe. Where other hotels would simply have drywall covered with pictures, the Mitsui has clearly thought about every surface. We were in a room that looked out to the central garden, which is beautiful. The room had a nice long marble bench at the entrance which was nice for putting shoes on or setting things down to pack / unpack. Further in the room, there is a bar area, desk area and a nice long padded bench by the window. Controls for the room are near the bed and you can dim lights or raise and lower blinds with ease. The bathroom is a very clever design with two pocket door entrances, offering a closet area, double sink, a wet room with tub and shower and rom for the toilet. The room for the toilet is wide and very peaceful. Of course, it comes with the fancy Toto Neorest toilet that raises and lowers the seat automatically, has a heated seat, has a bidet feature and more. The shower offers both a hand held and a rain head that with a fine spray. Bathroom toiletries are crafted for the Hotel Mitsui. Of course, robes were available (just ask if you need a different size). Let’s talk about sleeping…. The bed was among the most comfortable that I have ever tried (firm, with just the right amount of softness). Down pillows and a duvet complete the scene. And course, should you not like your pillow, there is a pillow menu. The rooms at the Mitsui are quiet with blackout shades. At night, gentle nightlights illuminate the path to the bathroom. In all, the sleep experience is well thought out and devine. One of the stand out features of the hotel would be the Thermal Springs in the basement. The Thermal Springs are a modern version of a traditional Japanese onsen. Access is open to everyone in the hotel, but the number of people permitted in is managed to in more than 14 people at a time. You have to call ahead to make sure there is space, but in our case, we were always able to get in. Anyone who out touring in Kyoto, should make time in their busy schedule to visit the Thermal Springs between their tours and dinner - it is a great way to wash off the city and relax before dinner - very civilized. This review is particularly fun for me as our stay at the Mitsui ultimately caused us to break up with our travel agent. He was SO insistent that we stay at the Ritz , he could not imagine trying something new like the Mitsui (nor was he willing o have his team check it out). In the end, I feel vindicated, we loved our stay at the Mitsui and would happily return

Check-in and check-out are all DIY, without any staff. Enter the hotel wheel password, enter the room to enter another set of passwords. The space is suitable, there are tables and chairs available, the CP value is very high, it is recommended

This place is a few blocks away from Nijo JR station and a Y2000+ taxi ride from Kyoto station. There's also a subway station nearby. I wasn't in Japan as a tourist, but I don't think that its location is all that convenient to tourist attractions. Plus it's not really a restaurant district, but there are some decent places mostly in the vicinity of Nijo station. On arrival, I was delayed and concerned that my booking might be cancelled as a no-show. I called the hotel and they were most helpful, reassuring me that I could check in 24/7. As it was, I checked in after midnight, and there were no problems. My room was small but well equipped. The double bed was comfortable enough for my 4 night stay. There wasn't much of a view – it looked out onto the building next door. Like a lot of more recent business hotels in Japan, there was no bath, just a rain shower. There were breakfast and lunch buffets, but I didn't try either. A Y400 or Y450 breakfast was available at several coffee shops near Nijo station, and for lunch I visited local restaurants with family. Family members who had previously tried the lunch buffet said they'd been underwhelmed by its value for money. As far as my stay was concerned, I was happy with my room, enjoyed the service, and would stay again.

The room is big enough, the transportation is quite convenient, and the facilities are relatively old. After all, it is a building in the 1980s. Just across from Nijo Castle. Depending on the attractions that need to be visited, whether everyone thinks it is convenient is a matter of opinion. Members can check out at two o'clock. There is a shuttle bus to and from Kyoto Station, and the official website has a fixed departure time.

3 stations from JR Kyoto Station, a 5-minute walk from Nijo Station on the subway Tozai Line, and a very convenient location right next to Sanjo Shopping Street, the longest shopping mall in Kyoto City. It looks like a machiya hotel along an alley in a residential area, but there is a large dining space and a communal kitchen in the lobby on the first floor. It is a newly built hotel that was just built this year, and there are 3 washing machines on each floor, which is very convenient for long stays. The rooms are full of beds, but the bathrooms are average size and the rooms with kitchens are said to be slightly larger. Just like a one-room apartment, there are many people who stay for a long time, and it seems that all the guests are getting along well with the kind men at the front desk and the international student staff, just like a boarding house. I felt it.
