Hotels near Carvalho Beach in Lagoa

Go to the Benagil cave, about 10 minutes by car. The whole hotel is similar to a small resort. It was a bit similar to the one I stayed in Las Vegas. The living room is very large. I did not try the restaurant and the pool. The front desk was very welcoming and cost-effective.

Just got back from a week here. We used it as a base for cycling which was ideal as the location was perfect to explore the area. There is an Intermarche 0.9 miles away. We had a 2 bed villa which was very spacious. Loved the separate lounge area and kitchen and of course a spare room. Yes it is dated and 1 of the beds was really noisy but was adequate for our needs. Villa Our villa faced the main road, which although seems small it was incredibly busy and we were disturbed every night, throughout the night by noisy traffic. There is a very small balcony area which didnt get the sun but the views were quite nice and you could see the sunrise. Food We were really disappointed, having stayed half board in many hotels of varying star ratings, this was by far the worst. Breakfast was childrens cereals (3 of), cold bacon, cold scrambled egg, toast, yoghurt, very watered down juices. Nice fruit salad, selection of cold meats and a cheese. It never changed. The evening meal was from a menu, hit and miss, most of the meat choices were tasteless and dry, the fish and lasagne were nice. I prefer a buffet style by choice. The waiting staff worked hard and were polite. Pool Outside pool was fantastic, plenty of sunbeds, large pool that didnt make your eyes sting or smell of chlorine. We didnt use the indoor pool. Wifi What wifi, there was none available in the villa and even when you went to the pool area or reception it was hit and miss. We needed it to upload our routes for the next day and it became an issue on occasion. There was no atmosphere at the hotel and I appreciate we came at the end of the season. I dont think we would stay here again sadly.

The room is large and quiet but the boxes are old and dirty gardens with locked parts. The balcony is large but dirty and needs a update in the painting. The bathroom is good but with strong smell from the rack. The room is large and it would be good to have a supplement waste because it only has in the bathroom and in the kitchen. The mini kitchen has a good fridge but the boxes and pia are very old, with a strong smell. I missed detergent and bubble in the kitchen. The room level would justify having a Nespresso, it would be very good. The good point are towels of excellent quality in both the room and the pool. The area of the pool is beautiful, well-cared garden and top chairs to sleep. The bar is interesting, but I didn't use it because I found the prices a little cheap. We have dinner one day at the hotel, I don't recommend it, it's buffet service and the food wasn't good, it was expensive.

My wife & I stayed at the Vale d’el Rei for 4 nights in early October. We visit the Algarve around twice a year and I have to say this is one of the best if not the best hotel we have stayed at in our many visits. First of all, the grounds the hotel sits in are extensive & immaculately kept. There are 2/3 pools, the main pool is salt water and heated during the colder months and is perfect for swimming in. There are enough sun beds, of good quality, to go round & we never once saw beds being reserved by the “crack of dawn brigade” Breakfast is served around the pool area & is a buffet style with plenty of good quality hot & cold options and all overseen by a very efficient & friendly staff who are constantly clearing, cleaning & replenishing food. A wonderful start to each day. We stayed in a suite, which was amazing value for money. It consisted of, an entrance area, a bathroom with overhead shower, a lounge with balcony off & a bedroom with a gigantic comfortable bed with good quality bed linen, double wardrobes with plenty of hangers and a safe that you didn’t have to pay extra to use. If there is a negative & I would have to search very hard for one, it’s that it’s a little remote. Although the hotel does provide a shuttle bus that runs into and from Carvoeiro several times a day. I would recommend you had a hire car which we always use when we visit the Algarve. This tiny negative would 1 million% not stop us visiting again & I have already enquired for our stay in 2024. First time in Carvoeiro & the Rocha Brava. Lovely atmosphere from the time we arrived - welcoming staff who guided us to our apartment and offered to help with the luggage. This is a huge resort with many apartments. We right beside Kids Club and a short walk across the carpark to the pool area. Apartment was 2 bedrooms, one ensuite and one bathroom. Huge living area space with sofa, 2 arm chairs and dining table with 4 comfy chairs. Kitchen was small but had coffee machine, microwave, food processor, dish washer and ample utensils and kitchenware. There was a washing machine in a little room outside the front door. We were left some washing powder, washing up liquid, tea, coffee, sugar & milk. The apartment also had with two balconies (one for clothes horse). The bedrooms were both a great size, had bedside tables and a decent wardrobe with plenty of hangers. Air conditioning units were very good also. Cleaning service of the apartment and outdoors areas was faultless. Met a lovely Irish lady from Tipperary who has been working at the Rocha Brava for years. On site facilities - supermarket, Coffee Shop/casual restaurant & pool bar all very good and not a total rip off. Preferred on site supermarket to the Spar. The white wine sangria was the best we had all holiday at the pool bar. Three different pool areas. The Ocean View Pool & Country Pool were much quieter but both had kids pools attached. Main pool area was great and there was no holding of sun loungers. Sonia monitors the pool area and gives out a new band to guests every day. She will tell you not to be keeping sun loungers and watch your kids etc. I would recommend that the hotel give out weekly bands instead. The main pool is much deeper at one end and I found it hard to watch the kids in the shallow end of the pool and also the kids pool. There is a large pool behind the main pool which is very deep - I think the hotel are missing an opportunity with this. It might be an option to have this as a shallow pool also. Must mention Macy in Kids Club - very accommodating and good to the kids. My daughter didn't want to leave Kids Club. Different activities everyday. Playground & mini golf on site also. Cannot wait to return again.

Arrived Friday midday, pleasant and helpful reception staff, easy check in and hotel looked recently renovated with well presented and modern lobby. We unpacked into a large two bed apartment, three flatscreens and sofa, large fridge freezer and all accessories required for comfortable self catering. We spent a nice afternoon at a quiet pool among other families and couples (pool is freezing cold). This is where the good news ended. Around 5pm two coach loads of students descended onto the hotel with shopping carts (actual shopping carts) loaded with speakers and party signs. Our stomachs sank as did our 7yr olds, intimidated by rowdy youths in the elevator. I enquired at the front desk as to the situation and was met with the news that the party had booked almost the entire hotel out of rooms. The Flor Da Rocha sells the rooms as part of a student party package at various times throughout the year, see screen grab. The sequence of events is as follows; two coaches arrive mid afternoon, the lobby and swimming pool both flood with loud students and then the speakers appear on the balcony’s facing the pool area blasting music. Short lull when they dissipate to the supermarket for alcohol then from 9pm (when the families are settling the children) the noise begins again with shouting / singing / Macarena etc etc. people hanging over balcony’s with guitars, clapping and jeering. No intervention from hotel staff whatsoever. It comes as no surprise the in room telephone also doesn’t work when trying to contact reception. The fact Jet2 are marketing this hotel as a family friendly holiday is ridiculous. No sleep for a family of four for the first two nights of a seven night holiday. We selected Praia Da Rocha as a family friendly alternative to the usual stag and hen locations, what possesses the place to host a two day student bender is beyond me. Unfortunately, this is the second time Jet2 have let us down and we should’ve known better than to travel with them again. The rest of the week was fine although the students continue to come and go, fortunately for us the rest seemed to be athletes / youth groups rather than organised party goers. Given time and money has been spent to update the hotel it’s a real shame they choose to recoup this at the detriment to family and couple guests in an otherwise quiet resort.

Context - 12 night stay, family with 2 young teenagers in August We stayed in Villa 100, a 'luxury 2 bed townhouse' Accomodation: Great accomodation, some maintenance required, but not important. The accomodation was spacious, clean, beds were really comfortable, showers were great, loads of kitchen storage, sofas really comfortable, effective air com, kitchen with 4 burner hob, ovem, microwave, toaster, cofferr machine, washing machine and dryer. 5 star comfort, and nearly 5 star appearance (just a few maintenence piece needed ie chips in kitchen cupbaords, locks of bathrooms not aligned etc) Outside the accomodation we had 2 loungers, 4 would have been better, a table with 4 chairs with a few of a small pool. The pool near our villa was excellent. We generally were able to get this to ourselves at some points in the day, and there were always loungers available. This isn't the main pool. The main pool is a couple of minutes walk from the villa, and again excellent. it was quiet, but still an atmosphere, no problem getting loungers. On one day we had to hunt down an umbrella. There is also an indoor pool, that opens out to a terrace. Didn't think we'd use it, but it was really nice, and we used that as well. Useful when it's windy and the outdoor pool got chilly. The spa was good. My wife had a treatment that she said was very good. there was a steam room and sauna, both good, a small gym (didn't use). Jacuzzi was open, but didn't seem to work ie no bubbles! Outdoor pool bar was closed for refurb, but an indoor alternative was available. Restaurant was probably the biggest disappointment. We were self catering, used it once, and didn't return. The food was ok, but comparing it to the external restaurants we ate at, was nowhere near as good and significantly more expensive. Service in the restaurant was more comparable to a 3 star hotel. What was particularly disappointing was that 'portuguese' night was just a subset of the standard A la carte menu. Housekeeping were variable, ranging from spectacular to average! Some days they even unloaded our dishwasher which was a lovely touch. Other days they took away hand towels and didn't replace them. Resort did not have much to do for teenagers, other than making their own entertainment in the pool, but for us that was fine. Overall, a hotel is pleasant, lovely pool areas and accommodation is extremely comfortable but let down by the restaurant. Outside of the resort, in Carvoeiro we ate at 'Elliots' in the centre, and 'Recanto da Boavista' (2 minute walk from the hotel). Both of these restaurants were excellent, and catered well for my son who has a milk allergy. The other place we went to in Carvoeiro was Sandoskas. Again really good, but more cheap and cheerful. Whilst their bread contains milk, their baguettes don't, so hot dogs with baguette is a milk free option! The ice cream shop opposite also does a good range of vegan ice creams. My wife and I stayed here the night of our wedding and the following night - we had always wanted to stay here as we know the area well and we were not disappointed. We had mentioned that we were getting married, and the staff had kindly beautifully decorated our room with flowers and left us a cold bottle of champagne which was a lovely touch. Our room was amazing, a huge terrace with a gorgeous sea view and the room itself had an amazing electronic skylight which meant you could see the stars when lying in bed at night. The breakfast was also fantastic, the food was delicious and the staff were extremely friendly and helpful, eager to get us anything we wanted (and we saw that they were treating all guests in the same brilliant way). The hotel has a brilliant infinity pool which overlooks the sea and it very relaxing. We loved our stay, it was the perfect way to begin our marriage. Thank you so much Luis and the rest of the staff!
