I'm not sure why this hotel gets so many recommendations. In terms of room size and cleanliness, it was the most disappointing hotel of our trip! First, I wouldn't recommend the balcony room. It's tiny, and all you get is a balcony that overlooks a dirty, messy, enclosed alleyway, offering no view whatsoever. Second, the room truly is small. If you're traveling with two 28-inch suitcases, opening them up is a challenge. You might be able to fit one 28-inch suitcase by the window, but the other 24-inch one would have to stay by the door. And you'd have to close them up every time you wanted to open the door to enter or exit. Third, the bathroom drain had a really strong unpleasant smell, especially after being closed up all night. Even running the fan didn't help; it would just switch off after a short while. The hotel is quite new, and the overall service attitude was impeccable. However, breakfast was very basic, offering just coffee and tea with very limited choices – hardly any fruit or bread! It definitely doesn't compare to another hotel we stayed at for the same price. Also, the elevator doesn't go directly to your floor. It stops halfway between floors, so you have to climb a half-flight of stairs with your luggage.

The location is fantastic, less than a hundred meters from Tahrir Square in Cairo. It's super convenient for food, drinks, and entertainment. There are plenty of restaurants nearby, and it's lively at night, but our room, being in an alley, wasn't noisy at all. The environment is great, and surprisingly, the room even had a fridge, microwave, and washing machine. For this area, the value for money is absolutely amazing!

I had a very satisfying stay here. First off, the location is excellent – right in the bustling heart of downtown Cairo, yet surprisingly quiet. It's just a 10-15 minute walk to the Egyptian Museum and a nearby metro station, and about a 20-minute stroll to the Nile River. There are plenty of restaurants and bakeries around, making dining and shopping very convenient. The room had a fully equipped kitchen, which was great for making breakfast, and there was a common lounge area on our floor. Getting to Cairo Airport by Uber only took about 30 minutes.

It is in the center of Cairo, close to all the shops. There are plenty of restaurants to eat at. The receptionists lack English, so communication is a bit difficult. But they are friendly. The rooms are cleaned, but we have to ask them to clean. It would be better to have a cupboard to store our clothes, since I stayed 7 days.

The hotel is conveniently located next to Liberation Square, just a 2-3 minute walk away. The breakfast was good, with a wide variety of vegetables and fruits, and the red chili peppers 🌶️ were wonderfully spicy. The room was just right for two people and two large suitcases. You can see the swimming pool from outside the room. About 100 meters from the hotel, there's a wide main road. Cross the road, and you'll find the Old Egyptian Museum. Walking in the opposite direction leads you to Liberation Square, where there's an obelisk. I believe there's a metro station nearby, but taxis are so cheap in Cairo that we didn't bother looking for it.

The residents are very helpful. The elevator is very old and broke down twice in two days. The building is very old but has been renovated fairly well. The room has a very high window and no insect screen. There's a bad smell, apparently coming from the drains. The building has other nice buildings that I've stayed in before. There's no security guard at the building entrance. When I arrived late, I encountered some pets in the building entrance. This time, the experience was not good. I thank the building manager for his prompt response to additional requests.

Fabulous! After a busy few days staying elsewhere in Cairo it was wonderful to reach the sanctuary of the Ramses Hilton. We were upgraded to an Executive room and spent a great afternoon just admiring the view and the Nile from our high balcony, and relaxing by / swimming in the (almost-hot!) pool. The room had everything we could ask for and the bed was super comfortable. Service was impeccable, and our dinner and a few beers were good value. Highly recommended 👌

The hotel's entrance is a bit hard to find, despite its street-facing location, ”simple” reception area, and old-fashioned elevator. Even deep in the alley, this exquisite guesthouse is impossible to miss. This chain seems to specialize in renovating old buildings in Cairo. The rooms are clean, tastefully designed, and fully equipped with practical amenities. Due to Cairo's traffic, even on higher floors, there is some street noise (those with good sleep quality can ignore it; I wasn't bothered at all, haha). However, the view of the old city streets from the balcony offers a unique experience, a blend of different eras.

I had requested a pickup service in advance due to arriving at Cairo Airport at 3:30 AM, and had already made arrangements via WhatsApp. However, the pickup vehicle never showed up, and I called the hotel multiple times, but they didn't answer. I had no choice but to take an Uber, but the hotel was in an area that taxis couldn't access. I had to navigate Google Maps in the dark of the night. The staff was dozing off and didn't apologize for not sending a pickup. In fact, they overcharged me for early check-in. A week ago, I checked with a hotel in Athens, which didn't charge an early check-in fee. The hotel was far from the main street, so I decided to go to Kurzu on the Nile River, but the pickup driver couldn't find me. I contacted them multiple times, but they couldn't find my location, so we barely made it 30 minutes past our scheduled time. The room wasn't heated, and the heater was set to 22 degrees Celsius, so I shivered all night. The more I think about it, the more upset I become.

The location is at city center nearby to Egyptian Museum. Plenty of amenities within 10 minutes walk. The famed Koshary Abu Tarek is within 6 minutes walk. The rooms are well maintained. There is a staff at the reception 24/7. Guests of all ages and nationalities can be accomodated. Suggestion for improvement: 1. The towels to be issued upon check-in and not upon request. 2. The lift need to be upgraded as I was ever caught inside when there is a power trip. And often the lift did not operate because the lift door was not closed properly. Understand that the lift is not manage by your hostel. Please request for it from the building owner as it is not acceptable. 3. Consider centralized air condition system. Anyone can turn off the air conditioner affecting others.

GGuest UserI caught the early flight to the airport. I had a few simple breakfasts and went to the lobby. After waiting for the arrival of the shuttle bus, I found that I accidentally left the passport bag and there was cash in the restaurant bag. After a while, the staff helped me deliver it very much. But later, when I got off the plane and exchanged money, I found that the cash inside must have lost the cash banknote of 250💶. The whole passport bag in Egypt was with me all the way. I lost almost ten minutes at this moment, and then unfortunately I had to end my trip to Egypt. I have left a message to the hotel to adjust the monitoring, but I don't know if there is any feedback and whether it can be found. At present, people have been to Tunisia to play, and the cash euros for the hotel are not enough!

AAnonymous UserIn general, it is not bad for me to stay in a single room with a common bathroom for 10 nights. Above all, I would like to express my gratitude to the staff's efforts to manage the City Hostel clean which is too old and out fashioned building. * Location & Transportation Without noise, it is the best location to stay. It is located at 2 2-minute walk distance from Attaba subway station that connects to the Ramsis Railway Station and the Egypt Museum, only 1~3 stops away, charging 6 EGP per way. Of course, you can go to both by walk in 20 minutes. It means you can also enjoy the Nile riverside which is close to the museum. And it is a 2-minute walk distance from the Attaba market which is the biggest public market in Cairo and so many locals visit to buy their livelihoods stuff at a cheap price. In addition, you can also walk to the Al Azhar Mosque and Khan El-Khalili traditional market in 30 minutes, and St. Marc Coptic Orthodox Cathedral in AL Azbakeya in 10 minutes Two problems I experienced are firstly the noi⁹sy from 8 am to 3 am outside the building due to market area and cars' horns. It took 3 days for me to adapt it. Any room in the hostel cannot escape it without changing the windows to soundproof ones. If you are sensitive to sound, it is better to find other lodges in a residential area or modernized ones. Secondly, its location on the Uber taxi map and other maps is not accurate, so drivers have some problems in finding the city hostel. I have to meet them in front of the KFC next to the Attaba subway station. The signboard of the hotel is too small to recognize it. * Building and room conditions Like many other buildings in Cairo, the hostel building is old and shabby. The interior design and facilities are also outdated. However, the staff manages it so clean, particularly a common toilet and shower room. It is quite convenient a washstand in each room. However, it is bad there is no electronic kettle to boil water in a room or a common space. I could not enjoy my tea or coffee time at any time. I have to ask for hot drink water every morning when receiving breakfast, and store it in my tumbler. It will be better to provide a tea or coffee service area in the hostel. * Cleanness & Safety Cleanness and safety are very good. I have no issue with this. * Services There is no basic service that most guesthouses provide in general: toilet paper and drink water. Wifi is too weak to use the internet. Other services like laundry are satisfied. * Others During my stay, I couldn't enjoy having an exchange time with other travelers. I think it is because there is no reason to stay in a common space where only sofas and a table are. Largely guesthouse provides a commonplace where guests enjoy better the internet or drinks including tea or coffee and foods, which makes guests meet each other naturally and structurally. In conclusion, if the hostel provides basic services like toilet paper and commonplace with drink water and electronic kettles, it will be much better. And it is necessary to change its signboard so that is more recognizable. Except issues I mentioned above, it is a very good budget lodge.
