Hotel Schutzen Lauterbrunnen

A very classic hotel. It is cozy, the view of iconic waterfall from our terrace is spectacular. If you, expecting something is modern, extra comfortable bed, extraordinary ambiance, this is not for you. You might not have that luxury. But the services from reception and restaurant is very welcoming. We celebrate a wonderful New Year of 2024 here. Thank you to all the hospitality.

Shabby hotel, ancient shower unit, no heater in shower "room" toilet stained and running all night., seat broken. Lighting needs an update. it was not possible to read after dark and pillows should be in the bin. No restaurant for breakfast or any meals. Not noted in booking information, well hidden. This hotel is way below standard for even a basic Swiss hotel. No wardrobe, publicity did not represent room. Net curtains black with age!

Place was good, rather than very good. Typical Swiss German hotel. Room was good and clean. WIFI was terrible. English no issue. Centrally located on the main rd in the village. Free car parking. Nice restaurant attached. Major CC accepted. Walking distance to train station and other places of interest in town.

Not accustomed to complaining, but everyone must know about the appalling service at Hotel Schutzen, Lauterbrunnen. On checking in, we were hit with a city tax of 13.80 chf. I asked the receptionist if there was a guest card for discounts in resort and she said no. I later found out in tourist information, that payment of city tax automatically qualifies for a guest card! (We missed out on discounts at Trummelbach waterfalls!). In the mornings, nobody was on reception, it was closed. Our room had a fridge but this was padlocked shut! The tiles in the bathroom were cracked and the ceiling was mouldy. The curtains were wafer thin and couldn’t stop a dim torch shining through. The cleaner left our room unlocked on the first day! At breakfast (9am), it looked like breakfast had finished but should have continued until 10am. I had to ask for coffee/tea cups, glasses for juice, milk, orange juice, bread, cutlery, sliced meat and cheese. There were 3 slices of meat in the buffet before I asked but the meat had changed to a dark brown and dried up, as it had obviously been left out too long. Shortly after we arrived in the breakfast room, at least 10 other guests arrived. Everything was quickly running out and the waitress was just sitting in the kitchen eating her breakfast!!! There was no attempt to prevent cross contamination with one small loaf of bread being handled by several guests. I think this hotel slept through Covid! I told the waitress that this was the worst breakfast experience we had had in all our travels and we were asked to pay 15chf each afterwards!! I was appalled and asked to speak to the manager who didn’t seem to have the slightest understanding of what was wrong. This hotel lives to charge Swiss prices but the service was shambolic.

We arrived today and found this restaurant down town. The setting was lovely and the service was great but the food was so so. We all ordered burgers. The french fries were over fried and the vegan burger and chicken burger was very dry. Maybe other dishes on that menu might be better?

DO NOT GO TO THIS HOTEL!!! It's unreasonable! unfriendly! I regret not reading the google reviews first before making an appointment! There is at least one week before the check-in date. We contacted the hotel one week but nobody answered! bc we flight was cancelled, we hope to refund or change the check-in date, or return the point for subsequent use. But nobody answered and they all refused! We tried to contact them on June 12th, they didn't respond, but told us we were too late to cancel. Omg There are still one week before checkin date, and they are still unwilling to refund or return points if they cannot go to the destination due to flight cancellation. I have never had such an experience, no hotel has been so unfriendly! Ok well may be some people too short of money so use this method to defraud consumers of money. I don’t think people will not be happy if it no kind ,good luck

The food tasted all like fish. The chef said it tasted Gut! It was cold. Half the menu was unavailable. Would not recommend to come here. Only for view and drinks. Ran put of burgers. Chicken nougats for kids. When we ordered the drinks only one arrived for a family of 5.
