Our first time to SA and absolutely loved the location and vineyard stay. We pulled up in our taxi after an hour drive from the airport - not sure where to check in - as it needs a bit of signage. dragged our bags up to reception and up the steps - while a few of the staff where sitting there watching us as they sipped their wine. barely got a hello from them and then got told ””be with you in a moment” - when there was no-one else there except for us. Then a receptionist came out from around the back somewhere and barely greeted us. only really worried about our credit card - which accommodation had already been paid for months in advance. our friends were coming in later that night too and was worried about their credit card and that reception was shutting soon and no body was going to be there. Didn't really explain anything to us - no mention of wine tasting or anything that was on offer. We didn't even really get told where our room was so had to ask which way to go to our room. Did not see one person for the 4 days we were there. It is a fantastic place- just a little more service and hospitality would be nice - as you are paying a good price to stay there - it just took the shine off a little. otherwise would of been 5 stars.

An open-plan hotel on the main street of the scenic area is followed by a large parking lot. It will open a lot from the back road and there is only one small alley in front.

It was the first time since Covid we have had the opportunity to visit Handorf and it was wonderful. The experience was made even better by the welcoming and friendly staff at the Studios by Haus. Rooms were beautifully appointed and sparklingly clean. Have to also add the food at the restaurant was amazing. They have completely won us over and cannot wait to return. Thank you!

This spacious comfortable motel has a lovely setting,though it can be tricky to find tucked back off the street better signage would help to find it. Having said that it's a lovely place clean and quiet comfy firm bed and the staff were delightful and couldn't do enough to help. Would happily go back for another stay.Oh and it's well located to walk to everything.

I stayed at the Old Mill for work. Admittedly, I did choose the cheapest room, but it really wasn’t much good. Whilst the basic nature of the room was bearable, it was a few other factors that made the stay a little disappointing. Firstly, bedheads in the rooms are against the shared wall and the walls are thin. Lest say you can hear everything from the amorous couple next door (first night) and the screaming child at 5am (second night). Also, the decorative lights outside the rooms/ part of the street frontage are on all night and the room curtains are not block out material. Hence the rooms are quite bright, even with the spare blankets draped in the windows. I’d suggest if you’re considering staying at the Old Mill, book one of the other courtyard rooms or ask for a room not next to anyone else.

We had a two bedroom cabin and it exceeded expectations. Approaching the cabin through the grounds is very picturesque with the lake and greenery. The parking was next to the cabin, conveniently. The cabin furnishings and decor were modern and appealing. The rooms were spacious and it had all the modern, upmarket amenities required, including electric blankets. It was clean and fresh and a pleasure to walk into. We enjoyed eating on the private back patio with the garden backdrop. The property is opposite the popular market store and a couple of minutes drive from the centre of Hahndorf. Our only criticism was that although both bedrooms had heating, the living area did not and had to rely on the bedroom heaters to heat the whole space. We were very pleased with our choice overall and would highly recommend.
