This hotel is brilliant. We arrived late thanks to a terrible transfer by our package holiday provider. The hotel had kept us a snack and gave us some food when we arrived. The late night desk clerk was lovely and really looked after us. (Quick tip) get a private transfer or simply take the train from Barcelona to Santa Susanna its a ten minute or less walk to the hotel and cheaper then most package deals. We got to our room 516 and after a quick look at the sea in the dark it was time for bed. There is a train line behind the hotel but the sound from the trains is not that invasive. In fact the street sweeper was louder than the trains! The rooms are clean and provide everything you need. You get two complimentary bottles of water on arrival there is a kettle and cups if you want a drink but if you are all inclusive just go to the bar. Failing that take a teabag from the restaurant at Breakfast. The only thing we found a little strange was the layout. The TV is aimed more towards one bed side of the room. Personally I would flip the layout to out the small sofa near the balcony door. We had twin beds which are nice and comfortable which made a change from our Magaluf hotel! The bathroom is spacious with a lovely but noisy shower which I’m sure our neighbours didn’t enjoy at midnight when we needed to wash our travel weary bodies! Onto breakfast. There is an overwhelming amount of food available for breakfast almost boarding on uncomfortable. The standard English brekkie with properly cooked bacon and a chef to cook eggs how you want. Only on one day were omelettes an option which was a shame but very nicely cooked. Whoever if you are a baked goods fan the Croissant selection is insane! It would embarrass a french bakery with the shear amount of options. They are very tasty and perhaps the reason ive added a few pounds during my trip! There is a bit of a bunfight for the coffee machine as people seemed to like double dosing their cups. Just take one and come back! One thing In would like to mention to the hotel is a lack of water bottle points. The hotel asks people to think ecologically but there is only the juice machine to fill a water bottle. This is a basic necessity in this day and age. Using a glass bottle feels wasteful. Also if you could stop your wait staff taking the plates so often or asking if you are finished at lunch and dinner would probably save you an awful amount of water. Seriously one of our plates was taken within 7 seconds of finishing the food! Calm Down!! Even meals are the same we didn’t have snacks as we only went half board. The food is very tasty but some of the evening meals felt a bit samey. Pizza three days on the trot was a little too much. However there is plenty to choose from you wont go hungry. Oh apart from whilst you wait at breakfast for the toast to cook! Ten minutes to cook two slices! The pool and bar area. Lots of nice places to sit with plenty of options not really a fan of allowing

Absolutely fantastic stay will definitely re visit either a few weeks before or a month or so. Firstly I am still scoring this as I am because there are more positives than negatives so let’s get the negatives out the way first. Coach drop off does not go directly outside the hotel if booked through on the beach travel republic budget holiday though you may find Jet2 are able to for pick up quick hint if your pick up point is Alhambra Hotel if your on the far side face it and to the left is where the corner pickup point should be. Next I read a lot of reviews regarding the food and as it’s buffet it goes cold but it is replaced when running out or low and if you want choices of meats like head pork chop beef or fish like cod or bass these are cooked in front of you for the English folks that read this do ask for well done as you may get medium most nights but for they catered to that and it was so appreciated. Pool temperature it is slightly salty but once you are in switch the jets on and you’ll be a bit warmer was always maintained and cleaned daily this is with 3 weeks of the season left. Staff warm delightful friendly and rocko or rock as his friends call him will give you a lesson on where tapas came from please pass this on from Ryan and to all the staff that worked so brilliant. So ending with a few more positives here the room small but spacious and huge wet room shower temperature you have to adjust half and half but it’s very hot and linen and beds if you don’t put out your DND sign this will be changed every day there are also safes with codes and you get a keycard for electricity but a wristband which allows you in your room out the main gate beach side and if you get back late it will allow you through the door don’t worry f it gets wet in the pool or shower you can still enter . I went half board when booking but upgraded 2nd night in for 120 euros which was worth it, if you are down at the bar before 11 anything is half price as well if you prefer the odd premium these are half price to. Lastly entertainment yes it’s not always advertised to say who’s on or playing and I think it’s something they will look to include but every other night there was a singer or band this will probably increase in season. There is a promenade with lots of shops bar’s restaurants and other hotels to and not everyone’s cup of tea the train but if you are planning to go into Barcelona or save on a transfer on your next holiday you might find this saves a few euro. I have just got back 22/10/23 it’s 20:17 uk time I want to go to bed but whilst it’s on my mind that is my review. Please feed this back to all staff waiters cleaners bar reception fantistico 10/10

On first impression the hotel looks amazing and our room on the first floor was small but large enough for myself and my husband and was cleaned daily by the cleaners who did a great job and also changed the towels regularly. The lounge area looked great with all the comfortable seating and swivel chairs but sadly was mostly unused except for a few people waiting for the dining area to open. We found the food mostly cold except for the soup but the deserts were very nice. We weren’t impressed with having to wait 3hrs for our room to be ready, we haven’t experienced that anywhere before this, when we finally got to our room we found there was no hot water in the basin but that was quickly fixed and the shower was difficult to regulate, either hot or cold but thankfully my husband managed to figure it out but we found each time we used it the room flooded. The entertainment was hit and miss and mostly weekends but the saxophone player on Saturday was amazing. The weather was terrible, no ones fault of course, constant rain for a few days, good job I took my iPad so we watched Netflix on those days, and the internet was brilliant, better than anywhere else we’ve visited. No tea or coffee in the room but there was a kettle - strange. Local shopping area good, minutes away, and the market on Tuesday was great, We found the hotel very cold and I wished I’d brought warmer clothes some days.

This was my second trip to this wonderful hotel in two years. My first trip with 4 friends in May 2022 was so good that I definitely knew I wanted to return. I returned last week with my Mum and did not regret it one bit. We were even delivered a bottle of cava with a lovely note thanking us for our return visit. This hotel is a gem in lovely Santa Susanna. It is clean, modern and has the friendliest, helpful team of staff. We were given a wonderful room on the first floor that walked out directly onto the sun terrace which was perfect for my elderly Mum. The room was cleaned to a high standard every day and the hallways and lounge areas have a modern design with great attention to detail. The food was delicious on both trips and the all inclusive drinks were premium quality. Entertainment on Friday and Saturday night was excellent. I wouldn’t hesitate to recommend this hotel set by the beautiful beach and would love to return again for a third time.

Lovely hotel in a great spot by the beach. Waiting staff in the bar were excellent and credit to the hotel. Stayed in room 202, great size, lovely balcony that caught the evening sun, spotlessly clean and really comfy bed. Train line didn’t bother us at all during our stay. Great hotel for a relaxing few days away. Only downside to our stay was the brawl on the corridor on the last night of our stay - totally unexpected as the hotel is predominantly full of older couples and those seeking a relaxing break. Needless to say it was a few English people who obviously don’t know their limits when it comes to alcohol. Thankfully the police arrived swiftly and the shameful ones involved were arrested or removed from the hotel. Santa Susannah is a bit of a let down, behind the times and seriously lacking in restaurants/places to entertain on an evening.

Have recently returned following a 7 night stay at Alegria Mar - without a doubt one of the best hotels I have stayed at in Spain. Easily accessible by train and bus (10 mins walk from train and bus station) and situated right on the beach front, the location was perfect. Check in was excellent, the staff member on duty provided us with lots of information about the hotel and about the discounted sun loungers on the beach, she also gave us both a very welcome glass of fizz which was amazing after a stressful journey. We were allocated room 309, a cosy double room with a lovely sea view from the balcony. There was plenty of storage for cases and clothes, a small fridge and a variety of toiletries for use. The food at the restaurant is of an excellent standard, we enjoyed every meal, not a huge selection but it was more than ample and a lot of effort had gone into the preparation of dishes. For fussy eaters, there was always a pasta, a roast pork and salad/stir fried veg every night, and always a variety of cheeses. It was a particularly nice touch that there was champagne available at breakfast, this really makes the hotel stand out and adds a little bit of luxury. The egg chef at breakfast was great, omelette's were so tasty. Pool experience was brilliant, there were always loungers available and the pool itself was amazing! Enjoyed chilling in it watching the world go by on the beach front. There really isn't anything I can fault about this hotel, we had a great experience. The only negative comment I can add about our stay was hearing a lot of ignorant comments made by older English guests, one of whom rudely interrupted us during our check in, and who we often overheard criticising the staff and lack of "English food". If you want "English food" then don't go to Spain on holiday. When we were checking out we heard one of these people giving the guy at the reception desk a hard time, saying that they had gone to The Drunken Duck and got a lovely Sausage and Mash, that they "shouldn't have had to go elsewhere to get that as they had paid for food at the hotel"...I gave myself a headache from rolling my eyes so much. The staff are a real credit to this hotel, they are patient, friendly and very helpful. Would recommend this hotel to anybody looking at a holiday in Santa Susanna, can't wait to return!
