I’d give our stay a 4.5 not a 5 for some reasons listed below. We stayed for a week in a balcony king at the Mill Valley Inn in April .We did not want to stay in SF as we only planned to do the city for a day but instead love hiking and being in a quiet more relaxed setting . The inn didn’t disappoint in that regard . We loved the location and proximity to Muir Woods, Muir beach, vista point, Tennessee Valley and numerous other trails. The town is very low key which was fine for us but we were surprised that almost everything closes (other than restaurants) by 730-8. The stay includes a serve yourself style breakfast(fruits, bagels, quiche, oatmeal , coffee , tea etc) and the service from the people working the breakfast area was excellent. (They leave a little card and pen on table to tip which we didn’t realize until second day thought it was a how we doing card but they work hard happy to tip) .some reasons I can’t give a 5. There is no lobby or welcoming space when you arrive , you pull into garage and there is a little glass office to check in. Our room was spacious however the bathroom was odd . Small vanity with hardly any counter space and a huge tub that takes up most of space but the shower area was tiny- we are not bath people so showering for my 6ft4in husband was not optimal. The room is also not up to date with technology - no smart tv , had dvd player and a Bose system for a nano - that’s wasn’t a big deal for us but My biggest complaint is the parking . As others have noted there are really tiny and limited spots. We had a small car ,but we came in three times in the early evening and had no where to park - no overnight parking allowed on street so was really annoying- had to go in office each time and ask where was ok to park -on vacation just want to pull in and go up to room - suggestion to hotel- Maybe you want to offer valet parking when hotel is full so guests don’t have to stress over where to park ??Overall though we enjoyed the Mill Valley Inn would stay there again and highly recommend!
