Upon arrival you're greeted with professionalism, helpful and friendly staff. The room was elegant and the surroundings, landscape, was well maintained. Weather you decide to have room service or dine at the restaurant, the food was delicious.

I recently stayed at The Inn for a quick girls overnight and it couldn't have been better. The new rooms have been redesigned beautifully, lovely furnishings and fixtures. The lobby and main bar are awesome, huge fireplaces, cozy textures and lots of seating. You could hang out there all night, they have a great cocktail menu/wine list, and it overall has a lively and fun vibe. The outdoor patio at Lillian’s is always so charming, so we had a really nice brunch the next morning outside. The hotel itself has had some major upgrades in terms of the spa facilities and the spa menu, activity programming like yoga and sculpt classes, and overall service at the hotel. We had a fabulous time and I would recommend it to anyone coming to the area. It really has a cozy residential feel, you won't want to leave.
Response from Property: Dear Aamandae, thank you for your kind and very detailed review on Trip Advisor. We appreciate you highlighting a number of the renovated features of the resort and touching on the service that you received. I hope that the Inn at Rancho Santa Fe becomes a favorite spot for your future girls getaway trip. Regards, Vikram Sood

I recently booked a private room for 22 family and friends for 4-hour event. Wasn't given copy of contract until I traveled in and arrived day of event. Had no idea about this until just before guests arrived. It was not only very long but many pages. Since I had no time, I asked if there was anything out of the ordinary, I should pay attention to? They said no, just standard rules and details regarding food, beverages etc. My fault for not reading thoroughly. When the final charge showed up on my cc. It was a little higher than I calculated. Not a huge amount but the gratuity was about $165 over the percent. I called several times asking them to go over this calculation. They left me a vm explaining the gratuity was calculated on total including $500 room charge and service fee for using cc. They also said it was in the contract I sighed. I called again saying in all the years I've had events, I never heard of such a practice. Why am I paying tip on room charge and cc service fee. Asked if this could be credited back to my card. They never responded after leaving 2 messages. For an establishment that reflects such quality and class, they certainly don't show it using this unfair practice. Are they that desperate to take every dollar they can from customers any way they can? It's not about money but more about business integrity.

I haven't written a review on this site for a long time, but I felt compelled to make an exception to bring the wonderful Inn at Rancho Santa Fe to the attention of the members of this site. The manager Vikram and his assistant Raj have done an incredible job taking this hotel to an international standard. The staff are incredibly well trained, friendly, professional, and attentive. All obviously hand picked. The food is excellent, and the rooms have been renovated to perfection. I also like the way that the recent renovation has referenced the history of the Inn and brought this out as a feature. This hotel is now a hidden gem in the Rancho Santa Fe area, and as the Michelin guide would say, worthy of a detour. I can't think of a better place to stay in the area, and I for one am personally delighted to have such a great place to visit on my business trips to Rancho Santa Fe. I will plan to hold my company autumn retreat here also, as the tropical gardens are lavish and beautiful, and the setting reminiscent of the desert vistas of Santa Fe in New Mexico. A tranquil and pleasant place that is somewhere that you must definitely consider staying at if you are visiting the San Diego area. Also the perfect setting for a romantic break or a family holiday. And I haven't even mentioned the wonderful pool area. I can't recommend this place enough! Thank you for a memorable stay.

We were particularly thrilled to read your comments surrounding the hotel staff. We do take great care in recruiting individuals that have that " spark " that is so essential when one is trying to launch a luxury resort. Finally, we would love to connect with you in the very near future to assist you in planning your company retreat this year. Please reach out to me directly at vsood@theinnatrsf when you are planning your next visit to the resort so that I may assist in coordinating the details for your next visit. Best Regards, Vikram

First the property is gorgeous and the grounds are extremely well maintained and beautiful. The interior design is also perfectly curated to blend modern British cottage meets Spanish style elements. The pastries made on site and available in the coffee shop are excellent. There are some details I thought you may want to know about that could enhance the experience and make it truly a 5 star resort. there is no easy way to order a beverage when at the pool. At any other resort there are servers around checking in on guests. Here I was told I could go into the lobby bar and order something and bring it to the pool...in a wet bathing suit this is not ideal. There is no easy way to get to the pool as there is only one way in/out, so when you leave the pool you have to walk through the main area in order to get to the cottages. asked if there was another route we were told we could "go through the kitchen" Called the front desk several times to get the WiFi password and no response...actually went down to the front desk, we were told the front desk was not answering because they were "in a meeting" 😑 The room overwhelming smelled of campfire. After all the windows open to air it out I asked if someone may be able to come and deodorize the room. A housekeeper dropped off a bottle of febreeze. So I had to DIY deodorize There's no trash can near the wet bar/coffee area in your room No towel hooks near the shower No ice available after ten pm…?? This is not a true 5 star…

This resort has all the makings of a great place…except that many of the staff members are apathetic to good service. There’s really not much thought about responsiveness or even addressing a gues that didn’t receive a meal until 10 minutes after the other guests at the table. AND didn’t even think about checking until the 3rd request. There’s so much more. It’s just very overpriced given what you receive.

My fiance and I had a terrible experience with The Inn. We tried to book a block of rooms and a honeymoon suite for our wedding at the hotel and after multiple attempts with calls and emails, they failed to get back to us. Finally, we got in touch with their event management lead and planned to meet onsite to book the rooms. Twenty minutes into the meeting, we were told that another couple may book the entire property that same weekend, therefore, we should just “hang tight.” After over a week with no correspondence, we reached back out and were told that the couple was following through on the buy-out. The management at The Inn is very arrogant. Nearly a dozen times, they told us about their “$40 million dollar renovation” as a way of boasting about how they can afford to charge top-tier prices without considering discounts for booking a large volume of rooms. Their staff is nice and helpful for the most part, but hotel management created a very poor customer experience for us.

Visually, the Inn is a gem. The hotel staff is gracious and well trained. The dining room staff was lax, and could use a bit more training. Decor is appealing and comfortable without being ostentatious. My room might be improved by a reading light over the bed, and a dressing light over the bathroom mirror. Only complaint: on a chilly night, there was inadequate heating. To sleep, I wore my gown, robe, a heavy sweater, and my coat. A call to the desk brought a lovely lady who checked the controls and told me it would eventually warm up. The room never warmed up. I did not bathe in the morning because of the cold. The Inn needs a 24-hour maintenance person. I appreciated the subtle niceties in the room and the thoughtful courteous attention of the personnel, from the parking valet, maid service, and registration desk.

Perfect Peaceful environment, many cozy fireplaces. Professional staff is excellent, very attentive and they really care, consistently. No one would be disappointed if you book here! * Unfortunately, I found out that Expedia’s price was a significant price which makes a difference!!

Beautful grounds. The room is sparsely furnished, but what is here is good. Staff is nice. We stayed in a garden room with a fireplace... not actually a great choice because the room smelled smoky the whole stay even though we did not use it. Hit or miss on the room appliances.. for example they put in a fancy Toto toilet but it starts beeping and spraying even if you are just trying to use the sink...meanwhile the HVAC unit seemed broken and was not able to keep temp constant, only one mode at a time, so we were usually too hot or too cold. The pastry shop is nice but closed on Monday and Tuesday. The breakfast restaurant was extremely slow. The final negative here is that while it is a central location on map, it is on a hill, so it is a slow and windy 10 minute drive every time you leave or enter. We would have done better to stay on a coastal town like Carlsbad, Encinitas, La Jolla.

From starting at valet, property to front desk, this property is wonderful. The staff is amazing, friendly and attentive. We felt at ease and made our stay one of the best we’ve had in San Diego . We had an amazing deal for weekday stay and hope it stays that’s way. The room we had was newly renovated and are completing their renovations. We hope to come back soon.

We celebrated 4 big birthdays with 7 people, and it was a fantastic weekend with great dining, comfortable and luxurious rooms and accommodations, and excellent food and location. The staff, from reservations to valet to front desk to concierge to waitstaff to housekeeping were all gracious and kind. Highly recommend!

I was so impressed with the renovations made, my room was so lovely! Frette bathrobes and Dyson hair dryers, nice touches. Tamara at the front desk was so helpful, and I definitely plan on having the Inn be my home away from home when I come to visit my daughter. And the kitchen staff was quick to pitch in and get us a coffee as the barista was arriving late that morning. So many thanks for a lovely stay!
