The Wight Bay Hotel - Isle of Wight

Stayed here with family a few days ago and it was one of the worst hotels I/we have ever stayed in. -Nobody greeted us upon arrival. Keys left in envelope upon desk. -Got into the room and it absolutely stank. Hole in the wall, Wallpaper has been ripped off the walls too. Walls were thin. -Bed was really uncomfortable, I could feel the springs! -WIFI did not work-didn't even come up on my phone! TV was ok, very small, remote didn't work. -Nobody at the desk on the way out either. Did not see one member of staff about at all. I have never felt more unsafe in a hotel in general though as much as this one-even though it was for the one night and thank god. At one point I thought someone was going to come into my room. I kept hearing funny noises too and had a general uneasy feeling the whole time whilst staying there. The highlight was leaving-we got out as quick as possible. Please do not stay here-the official pictures are very deceiving, it is an absolutely disgusting place.

The Wight Bay Hotel has become a firm favourite of mine. Matt and his team are working very hard to make this gem of a hotel a really friendly and comfortable place to stay. It is really conveniently situated in Sandown just behind the Esplanade in a quiet road but easily accesible to the front about a minute's walk away. The rooms are really comfortable, and as a solo traveller I have really appreciated the care that Matt takes to provide excellent, beautifully clean accomodation. I just need a nice home-from-home place to stay and always get it at this hotel. The Rooms are pleasantly decorated, have good beds and bathrooms and are immaculately clean. All have good Wi-fi (Free) and Sat TV with modern equipment. Matt is continually upgrading this establishment and is obviously aiming high, but is maintaining extremely good value in the hotel prices. I will definitely be back!

This is the worst hotel i have ever stayed in. It was dirty in all the communal areas. Plates on tables from previous day. Welcomed by dirty sheets on the floor on arrival in reception. Filthy carpets , wallpaper peeling off walls. Shower blocked and tray filled with water so had to finish hairwash in sink.

This was our third stay at Wight Bay Hotel, staying for a full week this time. As always found it clean, room had all the amenities that were needed, staff very friendly,had no issues. We didn't have the breakfast this time but has been good in recent years

The hotel needs to have some serious inves**ent they say photos never lie… well they 100% do in the case.. absolutely shocking. wallpaper peeling from the walls… Stains on carpets… mouldy smell throughout… bathroom sink was cracked… we arrived and had to search for someone so we could check in, then saw another staff member the following day at breakfast… even though she was pleasant to us she was rude to other customers…. Coffee/Tea mugs were dirty… they obviously got mixed us with clean mugs and were put out for customers to use and when this was pointed out to her she took great offence as she had to get the place ready for a wedding reception… Rooms weren’t touched throughout our stay… to be honest the bedding and towels were clean but the bed was so old that you could feel the springs… the dust hanging from the lampshade had been there for a while… and as for the curtains well they were hanging on by a thread… they weren’t even matching and had holes in them there was black bags full of rubbish just left outside bedroom doors in the corridors that were there when we arrived and still there when we checked out They say you get what you pay for but not in this case … I feel like we were ripped off… we even looked into moving hotels but sadly they were fully booked…

Very basic needs modernization but close to the beach. Breakfast was basic too dining room needs a refurb. The parking was very limited as well. The kids enjoyed the stay but that was probably down the good weather. Would not recommend to stay here

Check in between 1400 & 1900hrs. The room was not ready at 1430hrs, when we arrived. The hotel does NOT have a card payment machine. The boss normally takes card payments on his computer (but he's not on site). Mould/water damage under sink in the shower room, plus a LARGE water stain OUTSIDE the shower cubicle. Unplugged the TV, to use socket for phone charger. The TV plug (large oblong transformer type) casing came away in my hand. When attempting to fix it (without a screw), my son noticed it was last PAT tested in March 2019. Bar/restaurant area LOCKED at 1800hrs ? IN. A. HOTEL !?! Breakfast: I had to request SUGAR for my cereal & salt AND napkins when my Full English Breakfast arrived. NOT a place I would recommend.

The floor had not been hoovered. Rooms were not cleaned properly and were quite dirty. we moved the beds to put them together, and found so much dirty underneath them, including food. Bathroom was not the cleanest. Staff were polite, however, overall unimpressed with the hotel.

I booked this Hotel in April 2022 for August, I booked a room with three single beds and the last seaview room available at time of booking for the dares I required, on arrival we were greeted by Matt the manager, who as we later realised was running this joint on his own, he was reception, the cook, the cleaner , everything he did was on his own…. I did not get the seaview room I booked into…. I had one double bed and one single bed, not what I booked at all, on the ground floor which overlooked a small patch of grass plus loads of tools outside our window, we were a mother a granddaughter and daughter (Adults) I shared a double bed with my daughter , not ideal, the room was small and very stuffy (hit) we stayed during the heatwave ….so had to purchase our own fan to try to keep the room cool…. The manager was nice and friendly and tried to go out of his way to help out with any issues we encounyptered during our stay, the TV didn’t work, the bedside lamps didn’t work…. The hair dryer didn’t work….. breakfast was a strange set up too, on booking it stated a buffet style breakfast ….although the breakfasts were cooked to order by Matt….the coffee and tea were ok ….on the first day, the glasses which they served fruit juice in were dirty and the juice was warm….we had to ask for sugar, milk and knives and forks too….not a very relaxing experience at all…..the bar only opened for a couple of hours in the evening….if we wanted a drink we had to walk to the nearest shop which was about a 10min walk away….. the carpets were stained…. To be fair Matt was working alone apart from two young school leavers, who used to take our breakfast orders ,read the orders back to us, then get the order completely wrong….it’s a shame cos the Hotel would be a nice place to stay if there was more staff and you actually got the services you paid for at the hotel, the write up about the services you get at this hotel are not true to what you get…… still we made the most of our stay and did ok…. Would definitely not stay in this hotel again ….sorry Matt
