Red Monkey Hostel Barra Funda

Simply wonderful great experience! I went to take part in a competition and was practically in front of the test site. But what surprised me was the welcome, at Red you are not just a guest... You enter as if you were going to see old friends! Welcomed by the pets Quico and Bud... Beautiful! Cozy, pleasant a**osphere and yes, I only praise Dona Maria's Team... Rafael is super attentive, in short, lots of compliments, a lot. I will definitely come back! I highly recommend it!

First Hostel experience and perhaps the last. When completing the request, it was written that I would stay in a female room and when I arrived, they placed me in a mixed room, with me being the only woman who spent more days. The beds are bunk beds and are absurdly high, we have no safe support to get on and my bed was so soft that it leaned against the wall as one of the ends had crooked, broken wood. And detail: they only put the girls on the top beds and the men on the bottom. None of them liked having to climb into the bunk because it was too high and there was no possibility of changing it because they said it was "reserved". I closed for 4 days and spent two days completely alone in the room without reserving any of the other beds, having to go up and down that insecure thing alone. What helped me was a mirror facing my bed and I knew where I was stepping on the stairs to go up or down. There was no water filter, it's okay that there are hostels that don't offer breakfast like this one. But there is no water?! The bathrooms were always busy, there was no organization and if you asked yourself where you could go to brush your teeth, they never knew which bathroom was available. Two of the attendants are very nice, but I had problems with Edson. I asked to borrow a charger because mine wasn't working and I put it to charge on the bed underneath as it was the only socket within reach. I lay down to rest while I used my cell phone and closed the curtain for privacy as they opened the door directly to the room. Without asking for permission, he arrived, opening the curtain and saying not to stay there as there was a reservation. Two days alone in the same room, 3 days in that bed without anyone occupying it?? I argued that I needed the socket and he asked me to use the socket on my bed. My bed was so high that I couldn't even reach the socket, that was embarrassing. And continuing to talk about him, as I said, I was alone in the room for days so I took the opportunity to change since the bathrooms were busy. I closed the door and changed and in the middle of changing he opened the bedroom door at once. Without asking for permission, without knocking on the door. I looked back scared and he ran back to close the door but half a second later he knocked on the door as if nothing had happened and said he wanted to see if the beds were organized. People? For God's sake, this hostel doesn't know how to deal with women. I felt insecure the entire time. That part was horrible. There was a lot of dirt, a lot of uncleaned dog poop and they seemed to notice how often I went out. Privacy, security and comfort? Zero. I do not recommend.

Everything is perfect, for the value for money. Everything is very practical, the ""Chilean"" receptionist is a super helpful guy and the hostel itself is well maintained. Of course, to find the Red Monkey Hostel excellent, you have to have a family-oriented culture. The neighborhood is not so safe and the waiting time to enter the hostel didn't help much, so I recommend paying attention to this part... But the shared bathroom was well organized and clean, as were the rooms. I brought my own bedding (blanket, sheet, so I had no problems with that). There was a party (as described in the other reviews), but that didn't interfere with my stay. There is space to use a stove, fridge if you need it and there are lockers to leave your belongings under the bunks, but you need to bring a padlock).

O melhor hostel... ambiente descontraído e muito agradável. Além de um excelente atendimento!!! Diferente de outros lugares que já frequentei,achei muito interessante as cortinas nos beliches, que nos dá privacidade. Já sou quase morador kkkk...e pretendo voltar sempre que tiver a oportunidade.

o chuveiro do quarto privativo poderia ser um pouco melhor para sair um pouco mais de agua, tambem é um pouco desconfortavel ter que chamar a campainha todas as vezes que chegamos no hostel e ter que esperar alguem ir ate ao portao para poder abrir

A experiência de hospedagem no hostel foi muito bacana. Os atendentes são simpáticos e prestativos. A localização é ótima, tendo padaria, mercado e farmácia bem pertos, e dá pra ir a pé até a estação de metrô. O hostel não estava cheio no meu período de estadia, então fiquei sozinha no quarto feminino, o que foi ótimo nos dias em que cheguei mais tarde. Tinha um banheiro em frente ao quarto, outro ponto positivo. O que deixou a desejar foi a falta de sabonete líquido nos banheiros e o ferro de passar. Não é obrigação ter, é claro, mas é uma comodidade para os hóspedes. Fez falta pra mim. No mais, o lugar é ótimo!
