We stayed only one night but I can say we were warmly welcomed from the beginning; we arrived at 9 a.m. to leave only the baggage and visit Florence,but the room was already free and they delivered it to us. Clean, full room, we noticed that it was very recent as furniture, very beautiful. We were given healthy advice on where to go to dinner ( advice rast l'amorino in Scandicci 3 minutes in car from the hotel). The gentleman who was at breakfast, gentle and always present from the evening before for any doubt or information; after breakfast we left the room but they allowed us to leave the car in their private parking until afternoon No charge and so we moved with the means (Tram stop at about 900 metres from the hotel)

Villa Castiglione is located on one of the hills surrounding Florence, it is a peaceful and quiet place surrounded by villas and vines. Converted monastery now features artistically decorated interiors. Rooms are just spacious enough for a lovely stay, with ensuite modern bathroom. It is as seen on photos, clean and the staff speak English - even though they appear a bit slow and bored, they were friendly and very helpful, as well as offering advice on travel. Parking is free on the premises but be prepared for narrow windy road to reach the place. Breakfast has enough variety, but don't expect healthy options, it is generally pastries, yoghurt, cereal and eggs. Great coffee, as this is Italy, of course. Dinner is officially served from 7.30 but nobody started serving until 8pm and the menu is rather limited, lacking simple options for tired travellers such as soup or salad - and it was expensive, considering value for money. All in all, this was a great find and we can recommend the Villa.

In many ways this hotel was ideal for us, it wasn't right in the city center where all the noise is, but it was close enough to it (about half an hour's walk to the train station with a suitcase and bags). The hotel staff was excellent, very kind and respectful with lots of good and efficient advice. The room was spacious enough and clean and we didn't lack anything. One weak point was for us and it was the bed which was a double bed but, it was connected by two mattresses, and an air conditioner that worked but made a lot of noise. In conclusion, if you don't mind walking to the city center (I strongly recommend everyone to walk and not use public transport, there is a lot to see on the way :) ) And you are looking for the hotel staff to be nice, polite, experienced, know the surroundings and know how to give you tips, this is the hotel check for you. I arrived with my septuagenarian parents on April 27 for a week-long stay. The hotel provided us with the right room classification on arrival, but I was concerned that the suite was single bathroom instead of two and the closet space was not optimal for our needs. Annamaria, Victoria and Samuele stand out as front office staff who listened and acted swiftly to help address our request for help and resolved the issue the next day. That was the first wow moment of our stay. I also recommend the breakfast (came with our reservation package) and you should take advantage of the Rooftop Bar, the view of the Duomo and across the city 360 degress is suberb. After 10+ visits to Florence, this hotel has become my new preferred location and I anticipate returning here in the years to come.

Aspetti positivi: la posizione. Personale gentile. Aspetti negativi: impossibilità di regolare la temperatura della camera. Tappo del bidè inizialmente mancante poi sostituito da uno di fortuna. Miscelazione acqua rubinetto lavandino spesse volte impossibile. Richiesta, dei proprietari dell'hotel, di pagare la tassa di soggiorno solo in contanti e non con carta. Colazione solo ”dolce”, non ”salato”.

We stayed at the hotel a couple plus a little boy plus a baby. Quiet hotel in a central location. Very rich and delicious breakfast. Amazing staff, would like especially mention Antonella and Alicia who were lovely to us and especially to our little boy Daniel. Highly recommended hotel

This hotel was booked by a company I am working for, so I am sure it was booked purely on price as we were quite a large party. I understand that any business coming out of lockdown has a hard job on its hands, but on entering my room, I did feel it was necessary to wipe everything down with disinfectant wipes as everything was quite dusty. Some of my colleagues were unhappy with the cleanliness of their rooms. Following my initial clean down, my room was tidied daily. Wifi is poor, except in reception which has nowhere to sit and work, so if you are here on business, you don’t have any privacy to get work done. Continental breakfast is okay, but I cannot think of anything good to say about the cooked food, except that I have lost weight because I have not eaten very much. We are not allowed out of our bubble, so we have not been allowed to eat elsewhere, but if you can, I would. I have been served undercooked pasta five nights in a row, which tastes of salt, then meat and fried potatoes, which again tastes like it has been preserved in salt. Day 5 and the vegetarians in our group are stiil being served meat which could be considered quite funny, but they were not impressed. Although the staff are very apologetic, it is then replaced somewhat later with a greasy omelette which looks extremely unappetising and lonely on its plate but the soup is okay. They didn't have any sauces or gravy to serve with the food at the beginning of the week so the food tasted very over cooked, salty and dry, but we did get gravy this evening, so it has improved a little. I have been craving some vegetables with my dinner but greasy Salty eggplant is the only option. Oddly, mixed veg is served at breakfast. They dont really understand dietary requirements, so if you are ceoliac, best not chance it. I maybe doing the catering staff a dis-service, because they may have been drafted in from a different occupation, like myself and just doing their best in difficult circumstances. Catering is clearly not their forte. Everyone seems friendly enough.

The hotel is clean , but tired. I did not appreciate being told to sit a specific table for breakfast even when there were clearly several empty, was totally snubbed when asking for hot water for tea. Male concierge added 30% onto the price of bus tickets , next days' tickets were as priced on the actual ticket. Makes them untrustworthy. Poor breakfasts . And service is bad. Itallians get treated well and english are NOT . They don't know how to treat paying guests with equal respect . Its obvious they are blatantly discriminate.

This hotel was brilliant. My friend and I came to celebrate her 44th and can I say the hotel is NOT full of students as some reviews have said, there all a huge range of demographics and nationalities. The hotel itself is so cute and well decorated. Very kitsch. The staff were SUPERB! I feel bad that I can’t remember their names but I do remember Francesca from reception. What a girl! She helped us get dinner reservations, what bars to go to and had a wicked humour! From the pool bar - Candi. So chatty and sweet! Breakfast was brilliant. Not sure what some people are complaining about? You’re not going to get a 100000 calorie American breakfast. This is Europe. We had scrabbled eggs on toast each morning. There are sausages and bacon if you want. The. We had some fruit and yogurt, followed by a pain au chocolate or a croissant and jam. I usually had a bread and cheese as well! More than enough to get you going. Lavazza coffee too. We went to go out in our first Friday and as we came down there was a DJ and a free bar with popcorn, pretzels, and crisps as the hotel is very inclusive and community focused. The hotel is also very environmentally aware so to read reviews about people moaning that their towels and bedding weren’t changed- please! Nobody and I mean nobody fainted their towels and sheets every day in our own houses. It’s once or twice a week. The damage to the environment and the increased costs to hotel rooms are as a direct result of people like YOU. My only little niggle was that there was a fabulous Nespresso machine but the coffee was not filled daily, however a quick call to reception and we had some brought to the room. We didn’t use the pool due to some bad weather and plans in the day but we sat up there having a drink and people had clearly been swimming so I don’t think that’s an issue either. The view from the pool bar is UNREAL. I literally mean it’s spectacular. They have games such as table tennis and fusball and swings in the entrance which my friend and I had a go on after a tipsy evening. I’m won’t talk about how amazing Florence is as a city as that’s a whole other review. But this hotel is fantastic as long as you’re fun and are open to a new experience
