Very good hostel. Good location. Nice staff (english, korean, chinese speaking). This hotel is belong to a couples. Good cooking and food. I love the time here

The hostel near the old town. U and walk the high temple. U can dance with the local people. U can find the food so easy. Many food in there. The hostel has the water so hot and so strong. The bed has electricity to warm u will sleep so well.

Words can't describe how much I enjoyed my stay at Tavern hostel. From the food, to the hosts, to the room everything exceeded my expectations and I ended up extending my stay. Firstly the food menu is extensive and well priced featuring Chinese, Western and even very well cooked Korean food at an affordable price. Second the hosts are extremely knowledagable and go out of their way to make your stay fun and relaxing. The hostel can help you book tours to all the surrounding attractions and onward transport to other destinations. Finally the hostel itself is in one of the only original Tibettan style homestays in Shangri-La which wasnt destroyed by the fire making it stand out to all the rest. I will definitely be staying here again.

Favorite hostel I’ve stayed at in China so far! The place is run by a hardworking couple, who are very flexible and helpful and speak good English. The husband was a mountain guide in the area, and helped me book and organize transportation and supplies for nearby treks. The wife is an amazing cook (the Korean dishes were especially tasty!) and manages the check in/out process smoothly. Both price and location are excellent, this is definitely the place to stay in Shangri La!

Christine runs a wonderful hostel. She’s very helpful and friendly. It’s a beauty old wooden traditional family building right in the centre. You couldn’t pick a better place to stay

Staying at Tavern hostel made our holiday in Shangrila really special! The hostel is located in the old town, close to everything. The room was very comfortable and had everything that we needed. The owners are extemely friendly, very experienced and always ready to help with anything. We had many interesting chats and they recommended an amazing hiking trip to us. The hostel was lively with guests from all over the world and it offers a great chance to make new friends. Also, don't miss out on the food they can cook for you there! We had delicious yak burgers. 100% recommended!

I loved staying at Tavern hostel! I really enjoyed Christi and her family company. I really felt like I was home. It’s an international hostel so it’s beautiful to meet so many different people from all over the world. They cook delicious food and also organize wonderful tours for a really good price. Amazing stay! The hostel had an authentic and beautiful ******* style, with great home-cooked meals available! The host was warm and friendly, and provided us with great tips for our travel plans. She was really helpful and spoke English very well😁

The owner help me a lot. The place is nice. The price is affordable.

They are very kind and have rich experience and knowledge for the region. They arrange several a-day-tours and multiple days tours and provided a lot of information. They also offer amaizing foods(we loved their Yak Burger and pork belly bbq) The room was clean and cozy and we were touched how much they tried to help us and make sure our trip goes as we planes. Defenately recommend the hostel

Favorite hotel i have stayed in in china. Very nice owners, really friendly and give great advice. Easy to communicate with. The hotel is in good shape and feels really homey. Very clean room and public areas. Would definitely recommend staying here and having dinner/breakfast. Also booked a second stay here on my way back through Shangri-la

I had such a great time at Tavern Hostel! The beds were comfortable, the cleanliness was excellent, the shower had hot water and the food (I had a Yak Bibimbap) was delicious. The owners are friendly & knowledgeable and speak Englisch very well. They booked me a join-in Chinese tour to the White Water Terrace & Tiger Leaping Gorge. Despite not knowing any Chinese I had a great day! The hostel is easy to find and well located near the main square. I had a good time with other solo travellers from China, Singapore, UK and Malaysia. I stayed 3 nights and it was certainly not enough to explore Shangri-La.

Very friendly and helpful staff! Very knowledgeable about the area as the husband is a hiking guide. Helped me arrange private transport to the start of Yubeng hike and I was able to leave my bag there for 4 days! Thank you!
