I'll start with the good stuff. The breakfast was great. Good food, well prepared. The lady in charge was very nice. The hotel was clean and the room was as well, when we got there.
Now the not so good. In the room, there was a control for raising and lowering the shades. Didn't work unless I took the control apart and mashed on the battery. When I mentioned it, they kind of sluffed it off. The really bad part was the maid service or lack thereof. They came in on Thanksgiving day and left towels, but did nothing else. On Friday, they never cleaned the room. We came back in about 9:00 PM, after having been out all day. The trash cans were full. There facial tissue was empty. There was 1/2 roll of toilet paper left. When we complained. they said their policy is not to clean the rooms unless it is specifically requested. I asked if that was a new policy for Holiday Inn Express and was told that was their policy. I have stayed in these hotels for many years and this is the first time my room wasn't cleaned. I have never had to request it. If this is the new policy for Holiday Inns, I will not stay at another one. No other hotel makes us request room cleanup. We always leave a tip for the maids and of course, it was still there, because they didn't enter the room. This was a huge inconvenience for us, especially that late at night, and I feel a partial refund should be made for our trouble. Feel free to contact me if you have questions.
