Casa Cuseni was beautiful. The garden spectacular and the view’s breathtaking. We stayed in the Picasso room and the balcony was so lovely. The rooms were spotlessly clean. Mima and Francesco was so kind and helpful and the tour of the museum is a must see. Bf was lovely and tasty. The location was a short walk from center of Taormina but out of the way enough you weren’t in the thick of tourists. We would walk down to dinner and can back at night after wine and lots of food. There are lots of stairs and ramps to get from the street to the main lobby but then an elevator once you get to the main lobby. I had recently sprained my ankle but found the ramps up made it easier with my mobility issues. So manageable if you have similar constraints. I would recommend this over any hotel or Airbnb. You get the service of a hotel but the privacy of an Airbnb. There are only 4 rooms so you feel like you’re there alone. There were three adults in the Picasso room and we each had our own bathroom and living space. Beds were comfy too. Highly recommend Casa Cuseni.

There is no other B&B in Taormina quite like Casa Cuseni. The spectacular gardens, rich history, artwork and story behind this "living museum" combines for a most memorable experience. Francesco and Maria went out of their way to cater to our needs--even preparing an early breakfast and helping us with parking to accommodate our schedule. The views from the rooms are glorious; the pool is sublime. We loved staying in The Greta Garbo Suite; our friends also loved their Daphne Phelps room. No detail is spared in this oasis!

Casa Cuseni is not a traditional hotel, but a mix of museum, residence and albergo boutique situated just some (dozen) steps from Porta Catania. It may not be for everyone, but it suited me quite well. The room is large, the furniture is as historical as the building itself, the bed is comfortable, linen and towels are of superior quality, and it seems like you grandma house, with an atmosphere a bit twisted. I loved my stay; the views are amazing, and my room had an enormous terrace which offered me the Etna all day long. If you are not looking for a chain hotel, and you like different places to stay, and you don't mind climbing some steps two or three or four times a day, Casa Cuseni may be the place for you. Last thing: there is a new pool available... enjoy!

Before a very informative tour of Casa Cuseni that our hosts regularly conduct, even before we saw the Henry Faulkner room that was reserved for us, word was spoken of a secret room that had not been opened in almost 100 years. As well, we were told by Maria that the name of the artist responsible for several paintings on the walls in our room would be revealed to us later, but no, not now! It is a real-life love story to be discovered there. And so, that was just the beginning of our 3 night stay in what is officially “the art museum of the city of Taormina”. Within this truly historic structure and enchanting garden environ, there are 5 or 6 lovely and spacious rooms for let, most of which have balconies that overlook the city, the sea and, oh, I almost forgot, the ever-smoking Mt Etna. The proprietors and all of the staff were so kind and considerate. It was by chance really, and with such joy and pride, that I was shown a video snippet of Andrea Bocelli, sitting at the piano in the library living room, rehearsing for his annual concert in the ancient Greek theatre down many steps in the heart of the city. He does have a pretty good voice…. If you do decide to book a stay at this most enchanting place, un museo in truth, read “A House in Sicily” written by Daphne Phelps, the niece of the original architect and owner, Robert Kitson, before you arrive. In it, she tells the fascinating story about her many years lived there and the many famous guests who came and who went, leaving parts of themselves behind. When I learned that Roald Dahl penned “Charlie and the Chocolate Factory” while staying there, it became an obvious choice!

One of my most favourite hotels I’ve stayed in run by people who truly love it and are proud of the heritage and history of the building. Great history and art. Fabulous gardens although they needed a little attention after Covid lockdown. Great breakfast. Wonderful views with Etna erupting while we were there and sea views from where the hotel is placed high on the mountain side. Lots of climbing of stairs involved. The only thing I felt disappointed ed by was the bedroom. Mismatched furniture can be charming but this just looked a little mean and a tad charmless. But they have tried to keep it as it was in its creative heyday. Our balcony was fabulous. I loved it and was very inspired by it.

To sleep in a museaum sound like a dream. But this place is a magic. The minute we walked in we felt the unique atmosphere. It was not another hotel - it was something out of a good story. The garden is beutiful. The room was big with very good bed and rael art on the walls. We slept in the room where Ernst Hemongway wrote his first novel. Can you imaging that?
