3 couple went there last night for dinner. Our waiter “ Christian “ was excellent! Our food was average. The first item to come was a dish of “ cold” Onion rings . Christian replaced them when we asked for hot ones. Then the dishes that came with rice , had a hard overcooked layer of burnt rice in the bottom next to the plate. Not eatable. My burger and fry’s were good . But we only had one dish with fish and rice, my burger and fry’s and one beer and water. A little over rated for $114.00 plus tip! The onion rings were in my brother in law’s bill. Good spot , good service. Over inflated pricing for the quality !

The most incredible place to eat Breakfast! Imagine sitting with your feet in the sand, surf lapping on the shore, and you are eating some of the best breakfasts on the island. That is the experience we had. Our server Justin was awesome. His knowledge of the food and the island was unbelievable.

This spot is absolute heaven! I'm almost hesitant to leave a positive review because we want to keep this place a secret! In addition to the view and the beach access, the property is very well maintained and extremely spacious. The outdoor lava shower is great, there are neon green geckos that run around while you shower. The space is a perfect size for a couple, probably no more than that. The bed is super comfy, like a cloud! However, it is so soft we both had back soreness after 2 days. There is obvious noise from the restaurant, but what do you expect being next to a bar? It's not obnoxious and the live music is mellow and nice. We will be back!

Fabulous location, amazing luxurious accommodation. Stylish, comfortable and clean with the best views. Stepping into the sand with turtles popping up or sleeping nearby was dreamy. Great snorkelling and paddle boarding. We used the bikes to cycle for breakfast nearby, but otherwise didn’t want to leave. The outdoor shower amongst the banana tree was dreamy. Strolling for dinner at the Lava Lava club was excellent. This place is outstanding!!

It would be hard to beat the experience, if location were the only determinant: cute cottages, right on the sand, steps from the water, lanai with front row seat to beautiful sunsets. Unfortunately, there were too many things that weren't so great, beginning with communication. The cottages share the beach with the Lava lava Beach Club restaurant, but there is no one on site to deal with any issues that arise with the cottages. In fact no one at the restaurant seemed to know anything about the cottages. All communication has to be by email only, which, if answered at all, is answered only between 8 and 4. We had a problem almost immediately, when we found our bed to be horribly uncomfortable, The mattress was completely broken down on one side and the support screeched like a banshee with every move. When we requested a change of bed, we were sent a comforter and pillows to sleep on the day bed...... we did not get one night of decent sleep. At this price point, $1000/nt, a good night's sleep should be a given! We did eat at the restaurant and though a couple of the appetizers were okay, the overall quality of the food was a great disappointment. The restaurant has nightly live entertainment which did turn out to be a very pleasant addition to our evening happy hour on the lanai. We had other minor complaints that do not seem worth mentioning, though the cumulative effect detracted from our stay. I hesitate to broach this next issue, for fear of being trounced on as a heartless neanderthal, but it bears considering before choosing a cottage. We stayed in the Moana Cottage, which is the only cottage that is ADA compliant. Though we support ADA facilities, the other cottages had some very nice details that had been omitted in our cottage for ADA compliance.

We had the privilege of staying for 2 nights in Wa’a, the fourth cottage, and were entranced by the location and amenities. Sipping coffee on the front lanai as the sun rose each day was incredibly relaxing as the waves rose and fell and colors changed. We enjoyed the fresh bananas that were hung from the eaves as they ripened and the friendly resident cats when they stopped by to great us. The cottage is beautifully furnished to reflect the colors and feel of the tropics. The bed was very comfortable, the bath amenities high end, and the cottage absolutely pristine. We appreciated the beauty of the trees surrounding the cottage with their twisting trunks that afforded much privacy and shade. Chelsea, the cottage manager, provided very clear instructions regarding the check in procedures and was friendly and helpful with suggestions on area activities. This was an exceptional experience!

My friend and I met up at the restaurant to catch up after not seeing each other for some time. The view was beautiful. We both had 2 drinks some soup and shared an order of onion rings. Our waitress informed us that we had been there over 2 and a half hours and we needed to leave as it was their policy. Our drinks were not even finished and possible we would have ordered another. There were many empty tables in front of us. The food and drinks were mediocre, and I have never in my 40 years of dining on this island ever been told to leave, This restaurant needs to train its servers and managers how to treat customers. I will never return except to sit in front of the restaurant and drink and eat better food. It will also be my mission to tell others not to spend their money at this establishment no aloha there! Sure would like to know their policy how much do you have to spend a half hour to sit there? NO Happy Hour here!

I have been a loyal customer at the Lava Lava Beach Club cottages since the time they opened. My review here reflects my pre-Covid and post-Covid experiences. Without a doubt the location is perfect. Four small cottages looking out over A-Bay just a few steps to the water. Sitting on the front porch with a cup of coffee as the sun rises is as close to perfection you can get. The cottages are nicely furnished and each has an outdoor lava rock shower. Pre-Covid the cottages were equipped with nice coffee mugs, plates, silverware, glass water and wine glasses and we were welcomed with a nice personalized note. Each day a nice plate of fruit and banana bread was provided for breakfast and every evening we were delivered two cocktails of the day and a nice pupu to snack on. Post-Covid the coffee mugs were paper cups, the silverware was plastic utensils each packaged in plastic with a napkin, plates were disposable bamboo, water glasses are now individually wrapped plastic picnic cups and the wine glasses are plastic as well. In this day and age of sustainable products and reduction of plastics all the waste generated each day here is sad. And the morning breakfast plate and evening drinks/pupus are no longer offered. In addition the mattress was so soft you sank into it (warning to those with bad backs). And yet the cottages cost almost twice per night now than pre-Covid. As for service the housekeepers were all very friendly and accommodating. The cottage manager, Chelsea, has always been quick to respond and provides excellent customer service.

My friend and I went into Lava Lava for dinner and drinks. Jed was out server and we were impressed by his level of professionalism and customer service. The restaurant was crowded with lots of parties and we observe Jed not only handle himself well with these other parties but also didn't let that sway him from being an above exception server to his other tables including us. We look forward to returning to Lava Lava because of the excellent dining experience provided by Jed. Give him a raise. Now.
