Textile Park, a place of fond memories

There is a Textile Road in Guangzhou, located within the jurisdiction of Binjiang Street in Haizhu District, running east-west, starting from Fangcao Enclosure in the west and ending at Jiangwan Road in the east. It is 604 meters long and 15 meters wide. It can be said that Textile Road is the pride of the people of Guangzhou. In the 1930s, from the area of Fangcao Enclosure to Shichongkou in what is now Haizhu District, a grand factory rose from the ground — the Guangdong Provincial Textile Factory, which is the predecessor of Guangzhou's first cotton textile factory. Later, several textile enterprises such as hemp weaving factories were built in succession in this area. Once, the sound of textile machinery was deafening day and night, and the products such as hemp and cotton fabrics were produced continuously, sold to all parts of the country, hence the name 'Textile Road' came into being. With the changes of the times, the once grand factory area has been completely replaced by tall buildings. Textile Park, perhaps, can remind people of the past glory. Standing in front of the 'Textile Female Worker' sculpture, it seems as if one can faintly hear the roar of the textile machines, and the giggles of the textile female workers.
