Jen Singapore Orchardgateway by Shangri-La

This hotel offers fantastic value for money. To the left of the main entrance is Exit B of Somerset MRT station, and to the right is the entrance to Orchardgateway—hailing a cab here is super convenient. The hotel lobby is on the 10th floor, but there is reception staff downstairs, making it very safe to enter and leave. Right downstairs, you'll find a wide variety of dining options, department stores, souvenirs, and more. The breakfast buffet has a great spread, similar to the Shangri-La Singapore... it truly lives up to being part of the Shangri-La chain.

The room is a bit on the small side—guess that's on me for traveling on a budget. If you're on the side of the bed near the window, the AC blows directly on you constantly, but it's too hot without it. Also, the AC runs on motion sensors, so it shuts off when you leave the room even with the keycard left in the slot. This means you don't come back to a cool room and have to wait about three to five minutes for it to chill down again. Great location and convenient for getting around.

Arrived on a late-night flight. The two closest elevators from the subway stop running at 10 PM. We wandered around the mall for half an hour and finally found the main entrance after asking a staff member. Then we went up to the 10th floor to check in. I was almost at my breaking point at that moment. The hotel should really inform guests that after 10 PM, you need to find the main entrance to get to the 10th-floor lobby. Other than that, everything else was pretty good. The location is convenient, the mall is huge with lots of food options, and the Chinese supermarket downstairs sells cheap water.

Although this hotel is a bit old, the bed in the king room is really huge, and there's plenty of space even with a child. Plus, it's incredibly convenient – the subway station and a mall are right downstairs. It's super easy and hassle-free to get anywhere you want to go.

We arrived at the hotel around noon and were given our room right away, allowing for an early check-in. The room had power outlets that didn't require an adapter for charging, and they even provided toiletries for children. The room itself was quite spacious, with enough room to fully open our luggage. The hotel has direct access to the subway station and a shopping mall downstairs, and there's a Ya Kun Kaya Toast right outside. You can take the subway directly to near Mandai and transfer to a bus, which was super convenient for getting back from the Night Safari in the evening. The subway also goes directly to the Merlion area. Although it was suggested that places like Fort Canning were within walking distance, it was simply too hot to walk for even 10 minutes. The rooftop pool has a kids' section, and you can see the Marina Bay Sands in the distance. There were Chinese-speaking staff available, and they even offered coffee to-go in the mornings!

The room isn't huge, but it's just big enough to open two 26-inch suitcases. The location is fantastic. Downstairs, there's an MRT station, Ya Kun Kaya Toast, and Mr. Coconut in the mall. Walk across to the opposite mall, and you'll find Song Fa Bak Kut Teh. Getting around and finding food couldn't be more convenient. The rooftop pool is absolutely beautiful, it's just a shame about the recent haze obscuring the blue skies and white clouds.

The location is fantastic, very well-connected! 👍🏻 It's right by Somerset MRT station (North South Line), and there are many bus stops across the road. You can even walk 5 minutes to catch bus 36 to the airport. Minimizing walking is key when traveling with kids. The rooftop pool is perfect for letting the kids burn off their last bit of energy, allowing me to relax. The burgers by the pool were delicious! 😋 There are plenty of breakfast and dining options downstairs, so there's no need to pay extra for the hotel breakfast. For breakfast, you can go to Ya Kun, Toast Box, Fun Toast, Tim Hortons, etc. downstairs. For other meals, there's Great Nanyang, Song Fa Bak Kut Teh, and more. The room size was adequate, and it was clean and hygienic. The only thing to consider is the price. During the Mid-Autumn Festival holiday and the first day of National Day, it averaged around 2000 (SGD/RMB) per night including tax, which is a bit expensive. It would be much better if it could be secured for under 1500. Also, the King Room has no view.

The hotel is right above the MRT station, making it very convenient for subway travel. Although visiting some attractions requires transfers, it's only a few stops away, and Singapore's MRT stations are numbered sequentially, which makes finding your way quite easy. At the front desk, one staff member spoke Chinese while the other didn't; their attitude was just okay. The room itself was decent, and it was very quiet on the 17th floor at night. Downstairs, there are many malls, but the indoor layout is a bit chaotic, making it difficult to find restaurants. I just had to go with the flow. Singaporean food tends to be bland, and I didn't find anything particularly delicious.

The location is fantastic, right at Exit C of Somerset MRT Station. Just look for the bubble tea shop, and the elevator to the 10th floor is on its right. Check-in is on the 10th floor, and luggage storage is at the ground floor lobby. Downstairs is a mall with everything you could ask for: bubble tea shops, Uniqlo, and Yang Guo Fu. We were traveling with a child, and they provided a paper bag with kids' toiletries, all by Lion brand. They also gave us a bag of incredibly delicious popcorn; it was so good that we bought another bag from the mall downstairs before leaving. The hallway has a vending machine (but it's expensive; there's a supermarket on B1 where water is only 50 Singapore cents) and an ice maker. The room was spacious enough for two suitcases and had separate toilet and shower areas. There's a direct drinking water tap. On the 19th floor, there's a pool with amazing views, open until 10 PM, where you can see Marina Bay Sands in the distance. It was a very satisfying stay, and I'll definitely choose this place again next time. P.S.: After 10 PM, the mall's elevators don't go to the 10th floor; you'll need to enter through the hotel's main entrance.
