Tangwei Village Ancient Building Group

The ancient village of Tangwei, Shipai Town, Dongguan, was built in the end of the Southern Song Dynasty. A family of Li surnamed Xixi moved to live here and has a history of more than 800 years. There are 268 houses, 19 study rooms, 21 temples, ten eyes of ancient wells, 28 artillery buildings, and 4 gates. Most of these buildings were built during the Ming and Qing Dynasties and were basically intact. The entire ancient village is surrounded by ancient walls, which together form a complete defense system with the gates and the towers. The four gates into the village are called the gates of the East Gate, the West Gate, the South Gate and the North Gate. The ancient wall of Tangwei Village is a key national protection unit built during the Qing Kangxi period. When you enter the ancient village, you will see a pond, and Li's Ancestral Temple is on the "C" position facing the pond. There are a pair of glazed salmon on the ridge, boat-shaped ridge, and roof ridge. The traditional architecture of Lingnan pays attention to the feng shui concept of "pillow mountains, water, face screen". The pond is generally in front of the village. Tangwei Ancient Village is also the pattern of Qiantanghou Village. The wood carvings and painted murals in Jingtong Gongxuan are very exquisite. The wood carvings are as exquisite as yesterday, but the paintings have been mottled. It has been changed to an old man's activity room. The elderly in the village are here to play cards, play mahjong, drink tea, chat, and see tourists coming in and will enthusiastically tell some allusions. The alleys in the village are very small, and each door is attached to the couplet. It is very close to the Yanling Ancient Quarry (that is, the current Shipai Hongshishan Park). Red sandstone can be seen everywhere here. The walls, door frames, window frames, and roads are all red sandstone. The alleys are long and quiet, except for the occasional chicken calls and the dog barking in the distance. Tangwei Village is the largest of the ancient villages in Dongguan Ming and Qing Dynasties I have walked through. The alleys are narrow, long and quiet. When a person turns inside, it will feel gloomy. A small number of residents still live in it, basically elderly people. It is like a place left over by the years, maintaining the original appearance of the ancient village, of course, some repairs, such as running pipes and water meters with the house. There are still villagers living in the village, and the clothes drying under the eaves flutter with the wind; the cats raised by the villagers lie quietly on the side of the road to bask in the sun; The vegetables planted by the old house, climb up along the bamboo raft...
