尕海古城位于海晏县甘子河乡尕海村，周围是丰茂的湖滨草原，地处海晏通往刚察的必经之路。城东西长435米，南北宽436米，呈正方形。城墙宽12米、高4.8米，夯土筑，夯土层厚6厘米，城四面各开一门，门宽约7米，城内南高北低，东北部为一平坦的广场，西南部较高，为原来的房屋基址。出土的有汉代的五铢钱、灰色陶片、残铜镜等。
