Shanghai Citywalk | The Past and Present of Zhang Garden, the Premier Garden by the Sea
Zhang Garden is an old Shikumen lane neighborhood surrounded by the bustling high-rises of West Nanjing Road, encompassing 28 different architectural styles that have emerged since Shanghai's port was opened.
Once the largest public park for citizens in late Qing Dynasty Shanghai, it was known as the 'Premier Garden by the Sea.' Each alley leads you through red walls and gray tiles, allowing you to appreciate the traces of time in the Shanghai-style ambiance. Today, it has been revitalized as a hotspot for high-end shopping and cultural experiences.
◻️Features:
🔸Architecture:
As the largest and most well-preserved representative of the Shanghai Shikumen architectural complex, the historical buildings of Zhang Garden narrate the stories of the past.
For instance, the garden residence closest to the main entrance of Zhang Garden, 'No. 89, Lane 590, Weihai Road,' with its bare brick walls adorned with mountain flowers, pilasters, and moldings, combines Baroque decorative features with traditional Chinese elements. It has served various roles, including a private residence, a prosecutor's office, a court, and a factory.
Another example is the Sino-Western garden residence at 'No. 77, Lane 590, Weihai Road,' located at the heart of Zhang Garden's historical area. It resembles a butterfly spreading its wings and remains one of the iconic buildings within Zhang Garden.
🔸Landscape:
The climbing scenery on the red walls, the mottled imprints between bricks and tiles, and the flowers and plants quietly standing at the corners reveal the subtle intentions of time passing and the silent years.

New punching attractions in the past few years. Good location, convenient transportation in the lively city center. The environment is well arranged, and many people punch in and take pictures on various displays. There are fewer people on weekdays at night, and weekends or holidays are definitely crowded. Queuing to take pictures is a common occurrence. The surrounding facilities are also good, there are a lot of food, so it is a convenient attraction.

Zhang Yuan's Diot is still showing, like a sand sculpture of the animal group, it feels like showing the scene of the African animal migration. Zhang Yuan has many interesting layouts in addition to Diot, such as the watch exhibition in the direction of Weihai Road. Some details in the park are also very interesting, such as the kitten sleeping on the trash can, especially peaceful, people can't help but want to touch it.

The first time I visited Zhangyuan in the evening, I enjoyed the tranquility of the old Shanghai style and fashion magic capital. Zhangyuan's stores are full of flowers in front of each store, and the relief landscape at the entrance of the big-name store is endless. The red tile room is particularly warm and beautiful under the light, shuttled in the alley, can not guess what it used to be here. I like it and will go see it again.
