  • It is the most time-efficient option for day trips to Chengdu, with direct Fuxing high-speed trains taking around 1 hour.
  • It is well connected to the rest of the city via multiple metro lines and bus routes.
  • As a smaller urban station, it has shorter walking distances between entrance and platform compared to the three major hubs.

How to Book Train Tickets for Chongqing Train Stations

There are three standard ways to purchase train tickets for departures from Chongqing train stations:

  1. Trip.com: The most convenient option for international travelers, with a multi-language interface. E-tickets are linked directly to the travel document used for booking.
  2. Official 12306 app: China's official railway booking platform, with an English interface available. Foreign passport holders may need to wait 3–5 working days for identity verification before making their first booking.
  3. Station ticket counters: Available at all major Chongqing train stations. Large hubs have dedicated international passenger counters with English-speaking staff. A valid passport is required for purchase.

How to Take a Train at Chongqing Train Stations

How to Take a Train at Chongqing Train Stations

How to Take a Train at Chongqing Train Stations

The boarding process is standardized across all Chongqing train stations. Follow these steps for smooth departure:

  1. Arrive at the station 45–60 minutes before your scheduled departure. Allow extra time during national holidays and peak travel seasons.
  2. Pass the entrance security and ID check: All luggage goes through X-ray screening, and you must present your valid travel document (passport or Mainland Travel Permit).
  3. Enter the waiting hall and check the digital departure screens to confirm your boarding gate and boarding time.
  4. Boarding typically begins 15–30 minutes before departure. Scan your travel document at the gate to pass through.
    • Foreign passport holders should use the Manual Channel and present their physical passport to station staff.
    • Permanent resident card holders may use self-service gates or manual channels.
  5. Follow the overhead signs to your platform, then locate your train carriage and assigned seat number.

Tips for Using Chongqing Train Stations

  • Book tickets early: Tickets go on sale 15 days before departure. Popular routes such as Chongqing-Chengdu can sell out within minutes during Chinese New Year, National Day Golden Week and long weekends.
  • Confirm your station and terminal hall in advance: Only Chongqing North Station has separate North and South halls for different train categories. Double-check your ticket before departure, and specify the hall name to your taxi driver to avoid missing your train.
  • Keep your passport easily accessible: Unlike European stations, you will be asked to show your travel document at the station entrance, ticket counter and platform gate.
  • Distinguish train categories: G/D/C series are high-speed trains, while Z/T/K series are conventional slower trains. They often depart from different stations or halls.
  • Download offline maps in advance: Mobile signal may be weak on underground levels of some stations. For uninterrupted connectivity, consider a China eSIM for your trip.

The location is fantastic, making getting around super easy. Ziwei Road is right across the street, so grabbing a Heytea is incredibly convenient! In the evening, after a drink or two, it's just a two-minute walk back to the hotel. The room was clean, the bedding was soft and comfy against the skin, and the soundproofing was excellent – I slept soundly all night. The breakfast selection was quite diverse and totally exceeded my expectations; it felt like incredible value for money. Besides the usual Chinese and Western options, I highly recommend the freshly made noodles – they were delicious, and you can customize the spice level yourself. Overall, the experience was great. I'll definitely choose this place again next time I'm in Chongqing!

For my trip to Chongqing, I chose to stay at the Hilton Lianglukou, and overall, I was very satisfied with the experience. The hotel is ideally located in the heart of Yuzhong District, right next to Lianglukou Metro Station, making it incredibly convenient to get to popular spots like Jiefangbei and Hongyadong. The room was clean and tidy, and the bedding was comfortable, perfect for unwinding after a long day of sightseeing. The breakfast buffet offered a wide variety of options, and the local Chongqing noodles were authentic and delicious, creating a wonderful dining atmosphere. The hotel's facilities were excellent, with a heated swimming pool and a gym that were both fully operational, providing great opportunities for relaxation and exercise. The front desk and concierge staff were professional and attentive, making the check-in process efficient and smooth. Although it's an established five-star hotel, it's well-maintained, offering a peaceful retreat amidst the bustling city. The overall value for money is high, and I highly recommend it for anyone visiting Chongqing. I would definitely choose to stay here again on my next visit.

The conditions here are excellent. The room is very spacious and comfortable, with three windows on two sides. They provide so much complimentary bottled water that I couldn't even finish it all, and they thoughtfully placed two bottles in the fridge. The bathroom, shower, and sink are all separate, which is very convenient to use. The bedding is clean and hygienic, soft and skin-friendly. The mattress is soft and thick. Overall, the service was also very satisfying.

This hotel was the best one we stayed at during our trip back to China. Angelina at the front desk was absolutely amazing! 👍👍 She was so attentive and patiently answered all our questions. She even upgraded our room when we asked. The hotel food was also super good, and the facilities were complete, clean, and beautiful. Overall, we were extremely satisfied. Even the staff outside the lobby were incredibly warm and funny. My husband, who was visiting Chongqing for the first time, absolutely loved this hotel. Plus, its location near Jiefangbei is fantastic. We'll definitely come back here on our next trip to China. Highly recommend! 👍👍👍👍👍👍

Location: Situated inside Chongqing's landmark 'Grand Sail' building, directly above Raffles City and with direct metro access. Within walking distance to Chaotianmen, Hongyadong, Jiefangbei, and the pier. There are three hotels in the 'Sail' building: InterContinental Raffles City, Hotel Indigo, and Ascott. Ascott is wholly owned by CapitaLand, the developer of Raffles City, so its quality is undoubtedly top-notch. Facilities: Positioned as a serviced apartment, the public areas are compact yet comfortable and practical. The lobby offers complimentary tea and fresh flowers. A significant portion of the public space is dedicated to guests. The gym is well-equipped with at least two treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as a full set of resistance machines. There's also a yoga room with river views, comparable to a small commercial gym. It provides hot/cold water, sanitizing wipes, towels, and even headphones with sterilized covers. The swimming pool was closed during our two-day stay, so we hope to check it out next time. Below the hotel is Raffles City's urban garden, leading directly to a river-view platform – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle. Room: We were fortunate to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, so spacious it was astounding. It features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a bathtub in the master. It includes a washer and dryer, perfect for families. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range hood. A complete set of dishes and cookware is provided. The facilities are excellently maintained; the microwave and oven looked almost unused. The room offers a pillow menu and abundant storage space. Due to its unique location, Ascott's rooms offer either unbeatable river views, stunning city views, or like ours, views of both. Service: Special thanks to Miss Genny at the front desk, who was incredibly patient during our check-in, attentively asked about our needs, and efficiently arranged our room. We arrived early, intending only to store our luggage, but to our surprise, we received our room key immediately. We are very grateful. All hotel staff were exceptionally proactive, friendly, and helpful – carrying luggage, greeting us upon sight, making us feel right at home. The staff member on the ground floor was also wonderful, assisting with getting in and out of cars/moving luggage and patiently giving directions. Overall, a very satisfying stay.

The curtains were thick and provided excellent blackout. The TV was fully functional. The staff's service was impeccable; they were friendly but never intrusive. This hotel is located right across from Bayi Square and is also close to the subway. Stepping out, you're on Bayi Road Food Street, where you can find all sorts of local specialty snacks. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we arrived, they immediately offered us refreshing lemon and plum juice from the hotel's self-service, which was incredibly crisp and tasty. Housekeeping was prompt; they even helped us with laundry while we were out exploring. Food delivery riders can bring orders directly to your room. Honestly, if it's not too hot, a short walk will get you to a ton of great food options. You can easily walk to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong from here, and to get to Liziba, you can take Line 2. Across the street from the hotel, you get a great mountain view, and you can even spot the Golden Eagle. I highly recommend this place for anyone who loves food and exploring!

Having stayed at other Hyatts before, I was always impressed with their breakfast, so I specifically booked the Grand Hyatt for our Chongqing trip, and the breakfast certainly didn't disappoint. The hotel itself is well-maintained, though the rooms are a bit basic. What I really want to talk about is the service, which was just so-so. We came to Chongqing after visiting Chengdu, where we stayed at the Lamborghini Hotel. When we checked in there, the front desk attendant immediately noticed we were two adults and one child and had someone bring up kids' toothbrushes, slippers, and plenty of bottled water without us even asking. Honestly, it's not just the Lamborghini; when traveling with kids, many hotels proactively provide children's amenities without you having to request them. However, at the Hyatt, during check-in, the front desk didn't mention children's toothbrushes or slippers, nor did they bring up the room upgrade that was supposedly included according to our Ctrip booking. I forgot to ask about it at the time and only remembered afterward. There were only two bottles of water in the room, but I didn't ask for more since we had brought so much water from the Lamborghini in Chengdu that we couldn't even finish it all. It just felt a bit stingy to only offer two bottles, especially given how hot it is in Chongqing.

The Sheraton Chongqing boasts an unbeatable location on Nanbin Road, making it incredibly convenient for accessing business districts and enjoying leisurely strolls with scenic views, saving a lot of travel hassle. This well-established five-star hotel strikes the perfect balance with its service – attentive yet not overly enthusiastic, avoiding any awkwardness. A special shout-out to Nancy at the front desk, who was incredibly meticulous and patient during check-in, proactively recommending local, lesser-known viewpoints. Her responses were calm and professional, and she efficiently handled all my small requests. The entire stay was relaxing and comfortable, making it my top choice for trips to Mountain City.

I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property.  Everyone was so nice and kind.  The service was top- notch.  The amenities were plenty and easy accessible.   A few extras that made everything worth it were the full- sized refrigerator, with freezer, the washing machine (for which they provided soap as well), dish washer, stove top, towel drier ( in the washroom) and full sized closet.  The view was so beautiful and calming as well.   Everything about this room was just so nice and exactly what I needed.     I didn’t realize how perfect the location was in relation to almost everything that I wanted to see.   When I figured that out, I just got up every day and walked to everything that I needed or wanted to see.   It was extremely close to a lot of restaurants, malls, local shops and smaller attractions.  I was less than a 10 -15 minute walk to Raffles City Shopping Center where there is a 5 story mall, Movie theatre, roof top attraction with the swing,  SKY WALK and also the river front park with amazing views.  Same distance for Hongyadong, the viewing platform, the Qiansemen Bridge- if you wanted to walk across the bridge at night- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND!  There is so much to see and experience between the hotel and these attractions.  Your days will be filled with fun and adventure.    If ever I have the opportunity to come back to the city, I will very excited to repeat this experience.

The room was great, and the front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They even upgraded our room for free and extended our check-out to 4 PM because our flight was delayed. They also proactively came out from behind the front desk to help us with our luggage. On our first day, we left a note in the laundry room asking them to dry our clothes and hang them back in our room because we were rushing out to explore and worried we'd be back late. To our surprise, they actually did it! Super impressed! The hotel is very close to Guanyin Bridge, and the metro station is also conveniently located. The street food BBQ across the street tasted better than the folk bar we went to later that night. There's also a Fenghua Hotpot behind the hotel that Wang Hedi visited, which is absolutely delicious and super popular – if you go too late, you'll have to queue.

Definitely not recommended on WARM DAYS because the hotel will turn off AC completely. I stayed at this hotel from 5/8 to 5/11, In-room HVAC only worked on daytime when outdoor temperature reached about 30 degrees, in room temperature was cooling down and comfortable enough. However, the hotel shut down AC system at night because outdoor temperature is not hot enough, that leading to in room temperature went back to 27 degrees, I got totally sleepless. Understood the hotel tried to save money on electricity, but AC system is the one of basic amenity systems and should not shut down the mostly of the days. Moldy grout, moldy caulking are all around the shower, the picture attached. Non adjustable shower head with fixed holder need upgraded. That shows lack of the maintenance for rooms. Room attendant provided great service she could and made me feel comfortable and welcome. All failures are belonging the management related to budget control.

Pros: The breathtaking views of Jinyun Mountain and the Jialing River are truly exceptional from this location. The hot spring facilities are also impressive, with a good variety of pools and a cleverly designed, intricate layout. Cons: The hotel's hardware facilities are quite outdated. For this price point, the hotel could definitely learn from the operational standards of top-tier brands. Furthermore, the breakfast selection is limited, and the toiletries in the room are of poor quality – these are areas with significant room for improvement. Large sections of wooden panels in the public areas are discolored or in disrepair. Overall: If you're looking for value for money, you might want to reconsider. However, if budget isn't an issue and you prioritize experiencing the beautiful scenery and hot springs, it's definitely worth a visit. Finally, the complimentary travel photoshoot provided by the hotel was a nice touch, and I'd like to commend the photographer, Zixuan, for her excellent service.

Stepping into the Grand Hyatt Chongqing again felt like time folding back into a familiar embrace. The warm glow of the lobby was like the gaze of an old friend, gently welcoming my travel-weary self. Ryan at the front desk smiled as warmly as ever, Tiffany's greeting was still as gentle, and Bella's eyes held that knowing spark – they are my compass in this city, a direction I can find without a map. Goldberg at the Club Lounge had already prepared a delightful surprise. Birthday balloons floated gently, like clouds in a dream. The guest room door slowly opened to warm yellow light, a neatly arranged birthday cake, and a handwritten card – every detail whispered: 'Welcome home.' I didn't need candles on a cake because the warmth and thoughtfulness from these people were light enough. Thank you for weaving an ordinary birthday into a shining chapter of memories with your professionalism and kindness. Grand Hyatt Chongqing isn't just a hotel; it's my second home in this city. We had a wonderful stay at this hotel and would definitely recommend it! The hotel is beautiful, very clean, and modernly furnished. The staff were extremely friendly and helpful, especially receptionists No. 3 and No. 4, who made our stay even more pleasant. We were also upgraded to a better room on the 10th floor, which had an amazing view of the Chongqing Art Gallery. Despite the central location, it was very quiet at night. The bed was extremely comfortable, and we slept very well throughout our stay. We received a meal voucher for each day of our stay, which was a really nice benefit. The vouchers could be used once per day during the designated hours, which covered most of the day from morning until evening. This meant we didn’t necessarily have to use them for breakfast – we could also use them for lunch or dinner at the hotel restaurant, which was very convenient. We also received a voucher for the hotel’s tea room, where we enjoyed an excellent Bitan Tea. It was a lovely experience and a very nice addition to our stay. The location is another big advantage. The hotel is right in the city center, with many of Chongqing’s main attractions nearby, as well as easy access to the metro. Overall, we had an excellent experience – a beautiful and clean hotel, great location, wonderful views, comfortable beds, thoughtful extras, and exceptionally kind staff. We would happily stay here again and highly recommend it!

This hotel is conveniently located near Guanyin Bridge, making transportation a breeze. While it's not the newest hotel, the room facilities are still quite good. The rooms are spacious and very clean, and the breakfast spread is excellent. The staff are all incredibly warm and attentive, especially Jackie and Bella, who really made us feel right at home.

The hotel's location is excellent, making it very convenient for getting around, whether by taxi or subway. The hotel feels well-managed overall, with service and attention to detail being quite good. The biggest feeling after checking in was comfort. The mattress and pillows in the room were very comfortable, leading to a great night's sleep. The hotel's gym and pool are also well-maintained and clean, with a nice environment. Being able to keep up with my fitness routine during my stay was a big plus. Overall, I'm very satisfied with my stay and would definitely choose this hotel again if I have the chance.

Choosing The Westin Chongqing Jiefangbei for our family of three was an excellent decision! We booked an Executive King Room and requested a river view, which the hotel thoughtfully noted. We arrived quite early, and even though we had to wait a few hours, it was absolutely worth it. The room was clean and well-arranged. The staff were incredibly responsive to all our requests. Whether it was the front desk, housekeeping, or the executive lounge staff, everyone was exceptionally warm and attentive. Thumbs up!

Visited with family, had been wanting to come here for a long time. Before arrival, the hotel's guest butler, Yannie, proactively added me on WeChat and introduced the hotel. Upon alighting, our luggage was directly sent to the room. We booked a suite this time, facing Nanbin Road, with Chaotianmen where the two rivers meet to the right. The high-altitude river view was superb. The kids absolutely loved it. The room was very clean; I used a white cloth to wipe the railing in front of the panoramic window, and it was spotless [strong emoji]. Booking a suite included afternoon tea at Bar 62, which offered an unbeatable view of the two rivers converging – what we ate didn't even matter anymore. I left my room key there and when we returned after dinner, it was handed back to us exactly as I left it [strong emoji]. They also provided welcome fruit, a handwritten welcome card, red wine, and dessert. As for the summer special drink and ice cream scoop, we didn't get a chance to try them [facepalm emoji]. The breakfast selection wasn't extensive, but it felt more refined, and there was also an à la carte menu. Upon departure, we received a farewell gift of two packets of Qiaotou hotpot seasoning.

Fairy Mountain National Forest Park/Fairy Mountain Town Chongqing|116.09km from city center
Escaping the city's hustle and bustle, we checked into the Huabang Hotel, nestled right within the scenic area. Front desk agent Xiao Liu was incredibly efficient with our check-in, patiently helped us plan our sightseeing routes, and informed us of the dining hours. The hotel's mountain and forest views are absolutely stunning, and the observation deck offers panoramic vistas of the grasslands. The Red Maple Stone Forest was serene and peaceful. Our room key card granted us VIP access directly into the vast grasslands, which was a huge plus. After dinner, we took a leisurely stroll through the Tree Hole Starry Sky Park, enjoying a relaxing and romantic time together. A special thank you to the lovely front desk agent, Xiao Liu!

People's Square Area Chongqing|0.52km from city center
The room was quite spacious, with a low table by the window and a bay window, perfect for relaxing after a long day of sightseeing. It was very comfortable. The bedding was also very comfortable, with soft duvets, though I did spend quite a while trying to figure out the bedside lamp, haha. The bathroom and toilet were in separate spaces, with the sink outside, all three being independent, which was incredibly convenient and a huge plus! Many other hotels don't offer such a thoughtful layout. The reception isn't on the same floor as the guest rooms, and there's a dedicated lounge area where you can work, read, or watch shows. The room's soundproofing was good; I didn't even hear the heavy rainstorm outside last night. The lady at the front desk was very friendly and even gave us two bottles of water for our journey when we checked out, which was a very thoughtful touch. You can also store your luggage at the front desk. The hotel is situated in a tranquil area surrounded by schools, museums, and memorials, making for a beautiful environment. It's accessible from two subway stations, and there's a police car on duty right downstairs, as well as security guards, so it feels very safe. I highly recommend this place for anyone visiting Chongqing, especially with many historical 'red' attractions nearby, perfect for a leisurely stroll.

Although the hotel is a bit dated, the basic facilities are well-maintained, and the service was excellent. They even upgraded me to a river-view room, and the rooftop offers a fantastic panoramic view of the city at night! My only complaint is the hairdryer – it's incredibly old, like something from the 80s. You have to constantly hold the button down to get air, and it's so hot it almost burns your scalp. I called reception, and they said there were no other hairdryers available to swap it out. Seriously, how can a hotel still have a hairdryer like this in this day and age? After blow-drying my hair, I was sweating all over again. Don't they think about updating these kinds of amenities?

This hotel offers great value for money, excellent service, and a convenient location close to attractions. It's also very car-friendly, with plenty of parking spaces in the underground garage and a dedicated elevator for guests, so no long waits. Highly recommended! The breakfast selection is extensive, and there's even afternoon tea, which the kids absolutely loved ❤️. Picture 1 shows the lobby, and picture 2 is the hotel entrance.

I just checked out today, so I wanted to share my honest experience. First off, the hotel is right next to the Jiefangbei CBD in the city center. The sign is very prominent and easy to find. 👍 Second, I booked a room with a four-piece bedding set, and the staff at the front desk were incredibly warm and even gave me a disposable set, which made me feel very comfortable and safe during my stay. [Rose] Room: The overall style of the room has a slight light luxury retro vibe, very characteristic of Chongqing. The lighting in the room is a warm yellow, not at all harsh. The bedding was clean and tidy. 🚽 This hotel also has a wet/dry separation design, with the washroom, shower, and toilet all separate. 🌟 What's quite special about this hotel is that the guest room floors are carpeted. Personally, I found it very quiet and had a great night's sleep. The hotel's facilities are also quite comprehensive, with a laundry room that includes a dryer and an ironing machine, and a 24-hour gym. For just over a hundred yuan, it feels like incredible value for money. I look forward to staying here again next time I visit Chongqing!!!

Staying at this hotel was such a comfortable experience during my trip! The hotel amenities were really thoughtful. The breakfast had a great variety and tasted delicious, and they even offered a complimentary breakfast for my child. The slim front desk attendant was incredibly kind and even gave me a foot bath, which instantly relieved my travel fatigue. It was truly warm and considerate service. The hotel's environment is elegant, and the location is convenient, close to both scenic spots and commercial areas. Highly recommended! [Strong][Strong][Strong]

The service was absolutely fantastic! The front desk staff were very service-oriented, always greeting guests with a smile, and actively asking if we needed anything. The room was also spotlessly clean. The location is super easy to find, right next to the South Gate of Southwest University of Political Science and Law. I'll definitely consider staying here again next time I visit the university.
