Chongqing North is the busiest and most important of all Chongqing train stations, serving over 150,000 passengers per day on average. This station is divided into North Square (Bei Guangchang) and South Square (Nan Guangchang).

I chose the Ramada Encore in Guanyinqiao for my business trip to Chongqing this time, and it generally exceeded my expectations.
The location is incredibly convenient. The hotel is right in the heart of the Guanyinqiao commercial district. It's just a few minutes' walk to the subway station from downstairs, making it effortless for meeting clients, dining, or shopping. After work in the evening, I could even stroll out for some hotpot, which is super friendly for business travelers.
I was given a business king room, which was spacious enough. The desk was large, power strips and USB ports were conveniently placed, and the Wi-Fi speed was fast. The soundproofing was good; I barely heard any noise from the corridor, so I slept very soundly. The linens and bathroom were clean, and hot water came quickly, which is very important.
The front desk staff were highly efficient. Both check-in and check-out were smooth, and they even proactively helped me extend my stay until 2 PM. For breakfast, the highlight was the Chongqing noodles and freshly ground soy milk, which perfectly captured the local flavor. I ate them for two consecutive days without getting tired of them.

Our flight was delayed, and we arrived at the hotel in the early morning. The male front desk staff on duty was fluent in English and very kind, which made our late check-in smooth.
The hotel room furniture and amenities are a bit dated, but overall they were kept clean.
However, we had a very unpleasant experience at the fitness center. After using the swimming pool, we tried to use the spin dryer in the changing room, but it didn't work. When we asked the fitness staff for help, they rudely dismissed the issue and bluntly said it was impossible without even checking.
Fortunately, when we inquired at the 1st-floor lobby, a staff member named William helped us deal with this issue. He personally accompanied us back to the fitness center and thoughtfully arranged for us to use the staff dryer. We are deeply grateful for William’s professional and kind service.
That being said, the hotel needs to address a few operational issues:
The mini spin dryer in the changing room should be repaired or replaced promptly.
The senior staff member at the fitness center showed a poor professional attitude —shirked responsibilities by pushing tasks onto a subordinate who claimed that day was her first day working at the hotel fitness center (believe it or not), and was impolite to guests.

Location: Situated inside Chongqing's landmark 'Grand Sail' building, directly above Raffles City and with direct metro access. Within walking distance to Chaotianmen, Hongyadong, Jiefangbei, and the pier. There are three hotels in the 'Sail' building: InterContinental Raffles City, Hotel Indigo, and Ascott. Ascott is wholly owned by CapitaLand, the developer of Raffles City, so its quality is undoubtedly top-notch.
Facilities: Positioned as a serviced apartment, the public areas are compact yet comfortable and practical. The lobby offers complimentary tea and fresh flowers. A significant portion of the public space is dedicated to guests. The gym is well-equipped with at least two treadmills, ellipticals, and bikes, as well as a full set of resistance machines. There's also a yoga room with river views, comparable to a small commercial gym. It provides hot/cold water, sanitizing wipes, towels, and even headphones with sterilized covers. The swimming pool was closed during our two-day stay, so we hope to check it out next time.
Below the hotel is Raffles City's urban garden, leading directly to a river-view platform – a peaceful oasis amidst the bustle.
Room: We were fortunate to be upgraded to a two-bedroom suite, so spacious it was astounding. It features two bedrooms and two bathrooms, with a bathtub in the master. It includes a washer and dryer, perfect for families. The kitchen is fully equipped with a built-in microwave, oven, refrigerator, dishwasher, and range hood. A complete set of dishes and cookware is provided. The facilities are excellently maintained; the microwave and oven looked almost unused.
The room offers a pillow menu and abundant storage space.
Due to its unique location, Ascott's rooms offer either unbeatable river views, stunning city views, or like ours, views of both.
Service: Special thanks to Miss Genny at the front desk, who was incredibly patient during our check-in, attentively asked about our needs, and efficiently arranged our room. We arrived early, intending only to store our luggage, but to our surprise, we received our room key immediately. We are very grateful.
All hotel staff were exceptionally proactive, friendly, and helpful – carrying luggage, greeting us upon sight, making us feel right at home. The staff member on the ground floor was also wonderful, assisting with getting in and out of cars/moving luggage and patiently giving directions.

This hotel is located right across from Bayi Square and is also close to the subway. Stepping out, you're on Bayi Road Food Street, where you can find all sorts of local specialty snacks. The staff were very warm and attentive. When we arrived, they immediately offered us refreshing lemon and plum juice from the hotel's self-service, which was incredibly crisp and tasty. Housekeeping was prompt; they even helped us with laundry while we were out exploring. Food delivery riders can bring orders directly to your room. Honestly, if it's not too hot, a short walk will get you to a ton of great food options. You can easily walk to Jiefangbei and Hongyadong from here, and to get to Liziba, you can take Line 2. The hotel offered a complimentary upgrade to a deluxe room for Ctrip Black Diamond members, which was a lucky stroke given the room availability; the room was very spacious.
The hotel is just a three-minute walk from Jiefangbei, surrounded by many shopping malls and subway stations. The only downside is that taking a taxi can get stuck in traffic. There's also a mall downstairs with a good selection of high-end and mid-range restaurants.
The hairdryer in the room was a bit old and difficult to switch on.
There were no bed rails for children's beds.
One day we heard that breakfast ended at 10:30 AM, but on our last day, when we went at 10:30 AM, we found out it ended at 10:00 AM that day and only managed to get two packed bread boxes. Perhaps breakfast ends at 10:30 AM on weekends and 10:00 AM on weekdays. We stayed for four days. The hotel didn't provide clear enough notifications to guests about the breakfast times.
We tried the Napoleon pastry downstairs, which had high reviews online. At 20 yuan per slice, the price was very reasonable, but the taste was just average.FromHK$771

Yoyo at check-in was very professional and patient, which definitely enhanced our stay. I thoroughly enjoyed staying at this property. Everyone was so nice and kind. The service was top- notch. The amenities were plenty and easy accessible. A few extras that made everything worth it were the full- sized refrigerator, with freezer, the washing machine (for which they provided soap as well), dish washer, stove top, towel drier ( in the washroom) and full sized closet. The view was so beautiful and calming as well. Everything about this room was just so nice and exactly what I needed.
I didn’t realize how perfect the location was in relation to almost everything that I wanted to see. When I figured that out, I just got up every day and walked to everything that I needed or wanted to see. It was extremely close to a lot of restaurants, malls, local shops and smaller attractions. I was less than a 10 -15 minute walk to Raffles City Shopping Center where there is a 5 story mall, Movie theatre, roof top attraction with the swing, SKY WALK and also the river front park with amazing views. Same distance for Hongyadong, the viewing platform, the Qiansemen Bridge- if you wanted to walk across the bridge at night- I HIGHLY RECOMMEND! There is so much to see and experience between the hotel and these attractions. Your days will be filled with fun and adventure.

I stayed at this hotel for six nights. It's a five-star hotel, and the lobby, hallways, and even the six elevators are quite grand. However, being over ten years old, it does show its age a bit. I stayed in a duplex room, which was very spacious and satisfying in terms of size. What surprised me though was that in a two-bathroom setup, the downstairs bathroom didn't have a shower. The upstairs bathroom had a good wet and dry separation. But the shower drain was very slow; the water would quickly rise above your ankles when showering. I even changed rooms because of this, but the new room had the same issue.
The room provided welcome fruit and drinks, and there was also an afternoon tea. Breakfast was served until at least 10 AM, I think even until 12 PM. There was also a refrigerator in the room.
The hotel breakfast wasn't lacking in variety, but I always felt the quality wasn't very high. The hot dishes in the hot food section were mostly vegetarian, with only an occasional dish like minced pork with long beans appearing daily.FromHK$387

The room was great, and the front desk staff were incredibly warm and welcoming. They even upgraded our room for free and extended our check-out to 4 PM because our flight was delayed. They also proactively came out from behind the front desk to help us with our luggage. On our first day, we left a note in the laundry room asking them to dry our clothes and hang them back in our room because we were rushing out to explore and worried we'd be back late. To our surprise, they actually did it! Super impressed! The hotel is very close to Guanyin Bridge, and the metro station is also conveniently located. The street food BBQ across the street tasted better than the folk bar we went to later that night. There's also a Fenghua Hotpot behind the hotel that Wang Hedi visited, which is absolutely delicious and super popular – if you go too late, you'll have to queue.FromHK$400

Definitely not recommended on WARM DAYS because the hotel will turn off AC completely. I stayed at this hotel from 5/8 to 5/11, In-room HVAC only worked on daytime when outdoor temperature reached about 30 degrees, in room temperature was cooling down and comfortable enough. However, the hotel shut down AC system at night because outdoor temperature is not hot enough, that leading to in room temperature went back to 27 degrees, I got totally sleepless. Understood the hotel tried to save money on electricity, but AC system is the one of basic amenity systems and should not shut down the mostly of the days.
Moldy grout, moldy caulking are all around the shower, the picture attached. Non adjustable shower head with fixed holder need upgraded. That shows lack of the maintenance for rooms.
Room attendant provided great service she could and made me feel comfortable and welcome.

It's close to Xiahaoli, Longmenhao, and the Yangtze River Cableway, and also very convenient for visiting the Chongqing Planning Exhibition Hall and the Anti-Japanese War Heritage Museum. The room is spacious, clean, and well-equipped, even featuring a bathtub. The single bed is very wide, and the mattress has a comfortable firmness. Service overall was very pleasant and worth every penny we paid! All the staff were very polite and greeted us whenever they saw us. A special shoutout to Ashe, who was incredibly helpful, attentive and shared some interesting history about the resort and the hotspring with us.
We especially enjoyed the food at the resort. 过桥米线 was definitely the star of the meals, and 碳烤冬瓜猪 was also super delicious. I also loved their breakfast, which included several local noodle selections - my favourite was the 豌杂面!
A small downside was that some areas outside the main resort area felt a little run-down, and there were mosquitoes in the open-air dining area. However, the restaurant thoughtfully provided mosquito repellent and mosquito coils, so it was manageable overall.FromHK$3,805

After a late-night soak, I called for room service at midnight and the bathrobes were delivered promptly. The lamb hot pot in the set meal had a generous amount of lamb and offal. The breakfast buffet was much more abundant than standard, and the pea and ground pork noodles were especially delicious. The view from my room was GREAT! The room was clean. The hotel was clean. The staff was helpful. The only downsides I experienced were that the shower doesn’t get hot. It didn’t even really get lukewarm 😩. No washcloths are provided so you will need to bring your own. Additionally, their restaurant only serves noodles (breakfast, lunch or dinner). Visited with family, had been wanting to come here for a long time. Before arrival, the hotel's guest butler, Yannie, proactively added me on WeChat and introduced the hotel. Upon alighting, our luggage was directly sent to the room. We booked a suite this time, facing Nanbin Road, with Chaotianmen where the two rivers meet to the right. The high-altitude river view was superb. The kids absolutely loved it. The room was very clean; I used a white cloth to wipe the railing in front of the panoramic window, and it was spotless [strong emoji]. Booking a suite included afternoon tea at Bar 62, which offered an unbeatable view of the two rivers converging – what we ate didn't even matter anymore. I left my room key there and when we returned after dinner, it was handed back to us exactly as I left it [strong emoji]. They also provided welcome fruit, a handwritten welcome card, red wine, and dessert. As for the summer special drink and ice cream scoop, we didn't get a chance to try them [facepalm emoji]. The hotel's location is excellent, and the rooms are all on higher floors with great night views, which should have made for a very pleasant stay.
However, around 7 PM on August 29th, I was interrogated and treated with discrimination by the front desk staff in the hotel elevator. First, the hotel elevators require a room card to operate. Our group of six or seven people had already entered the elevator, pressed our floor, and as the doors were closing, the hotel lobby manager reached out and stopped the closing doors. He questioned us about where we were going. Even after we explained we were returning to our rooms, he didn't lower his hand until we showed him our room cards, only then did he let us go back to our rooms.
I immediately communicated with the hotel about this incident, and they informed me it was a normal operational procedure. But why were other guests not questioned? Only we were interrogated, which means it's not a communication issue, it's discrimination! It's gender discrimination and group discrimination. Furthermore, this behavior violates consumers' basic right to fair transaction. I suggest the hotel strengthens its training on consumer protection laws.
During the communication, the hotel claimed that because we brought a paper item measuring 0.2m x 0.5m back to the hotel, and hotel regulations state such items are not allowed, they specifically came to confirm. May I ask which Marriott group policy explicitly states this? Or which hotel policy explicitly states this? Or was it just the lobby manager's personal behavior??
After reporting this discrimination issue at the front desk, I was told that the resolution would be communicated within 2 days. Today is already the 3rd day, and I have still not received an explanation/apology from the hotel regarding the gender and group discrimination issue. I have only received a comforting response from Ctrip's customer service regarding this matter. The hotel is great, but the service team's disrespect towards young female customers is concerning.
