Lake Tekapo Homestays

I absolutely loved the stay here. The Staff was super friendly and helpful. The place was spotlessly clean thanks to the cleaners who did their out oat beat every single day. There were great showers and actual good mattresses on the bed. And then you have the nice view of the lake. What more can I say.

We were back in Tekapo to try our luck again with the Dark Sky Project and chose to stay at the MacKenzie Suites this year - wish I had found them last year as they are lovely! We had an amazing view of the lake and location is great - a short drive or medium walk down to the town. We loved the gas fire that covered the bedroom and the living room. Super comfy couch and the wee kitchen had everything we needed. There is a washing machine and dryer in the room and off street parking. The view of the night sky is also excellent with very little light pollution. The bathroom is great with underfloor heating, big walk-in shower and deep bath for soaking in. Wish we could have stayed longer!

There is a garage for the guests, and there are no better parking conditions. Breakfast is not available, there is kitchen cooker, you can buy it at a nearby supermarket and you can make your favorite breakfast. Although it is not at the lake but the balcony living room has a panoramic lake view, it is beautiful! And unlike the lakeside visitors are too noisy. It is very quiet here, and you can find the best stargazing spot on a small slope at night. I only intended to pass by for a night, and I only felt that the time was short. The little sheep at the door are easy for the guests to find. The small accessories at home can be seen that the owner is very interesting. I can't find anything to complain about. Hard to find is that if there is a clock on the living room wall, it can be easy to see the time.

Easy check in, very friendly, accommodating staff. Mantra was perfect for a family stay. There was plenty of room for the family, a good outside space and the garage in the middle of winter was fantastic. The upstairs heating in the bedrooms was amazing. However downstairs - main living, tv, kitchen, dining room was freezing. The gas fire was ineffective in the negative temperatures and even with an extra heater (which we requested), we were cold when downstairs. They have everything needed for a stay - full kitchen, dishwasher, washing machine and dryer. Staff were great.

This might be the first time I’ve stayed in a purpose-built BnB. Our hosts, Ann-Maree and Sab, bought a lot on a hillside with a view of Lake Tekapo, and then built a home with a wing that contains three guest rooms. My room was simple but comfortable with tea/coffee making facilities, a balcony, a well-appointed bathroom, and a comfortable bed. Guests have access to a living/dining room with floor-to-ceiling windows, comfortable couches, and a picnic-style breakfast table. This design gives both guests and hosts privacy. Yet when relaxing in the living room, Anne-Maree and Sab are always happy to chat with guests and provide information about the area. Breakfast is plentiful. Guests order hot items the night before. When morning comes we were treated first with juice and a hot beverage followed by toast, eggs, bacon, or whatever we ordered. Cold items, like cereal, are also available. Restaurants are a short walk to town, about 15 minutes, using a trail that starts at the BnB. Alternatively, you can drive, but I enjoyed walking.

Facilities: There is a kitchen with complete tableware and kitchenware, a refrigerator and a microwave. There is heating and air conditioning. The 55-square-meter space separates the kitchen, living room and bedroom, which is very nice. Hygiene: Very clean, new facilities, very comfortable to live in Environment: Although it does not go to the lake, the surroundings are very quiet. You can enjoy the beautiful scenery of the snow-capped mountains while sitting in the room. It is not far from the center of the village. The supermarket and the lake are within walking distance. It is not as noisy as the lake and the center. It is very Quiet. Parking is right at the door, which is very convenient. Service: Full self-check-in, self-check-out, social friendly. Basically no one disturbs. A Chinese guy came in the morning and asked very thoughtfully if he needed any supplies. Such as paper towels, coffee, tea, etc. I will choose here again next time I come to Tekapo! awesome!

The hotel is on the top of a hillside, next to a folk or hotel. The hotel is self-service, and the email sent me the entry password. Room facilities are average, but clean. There is a parking space outside the door. But the lake under the hotel is very convenient around, there are some free rides for children.
