We stayed at Somerset Grand Hanoi in November and had a wonderful experience. Yes, the hotel is older, but it is extremely convenient—just a 7–10 minute walk to the Old Quarter and close to everything you’d want to explore. The cooler weather was perfect; we could comfortably wear shorts, and the kids even enjoyed the pool. Our 2-bedroom, 2-bath unit on the 10th floor was spacious and practical, with a full kitchen and a washer/dryer combo—super helpful for families. The kids especially loved the ping pong table! There’s also a Quick Mart right inside the hotel, which made it easy to grab breakfast items, snacks, and even last-minute things like cough drops. We didn’t eat at the hotel since there are so many incredible options just steps away—but that’s part of the charm of staying here. Overall, a comfortable, convenient, and family-friendly place to stay in Hanoi. Highly recommend!

The hotel was pretty big compared to neighborhood hotels, of course it was not like Hilton hotel but there was enough space for relaxing in the hotel lobby and guest room was big enough for two people and clean. All staff were very friendly and kind. One day, we were waiting for the ride to Ha Long bay, the staff called to the driver when he arrived instead of us. Breakfast buffet was amazing, a lot of different food there, we ate too much every morning. Overall, I definitely recommend this hotel and i would go again if I have a chance.

Was thinking where to begin. When I first shortlisted the hotel, I read reviews on how the service was great and how they had enjoyed the stay but little prepared me for the homeliness I felt. The welcome was authentic and the hospitality warm. I felt more welcome than when I returned home from work on a normal day. 🤭 From the hotel manager Cathy who greeted us and shared with us local food recommendations, to the receptionist staff who sent us off all the way to the doorstep after we checked out to the bell boys who greeted us every other day. I truly enjoyed the stay, the breakfast and the location. While there was no pool and gym, I could still get my exercise at the lake and immerse myself in the culture. However, if you are gg with elderly, do note that the tub is also the shower area.

The hotel contacted me on WhatsApp before our stay to offer tours to other cities since they’re also a travel agency. We didn’t reply, but when we arrived after a long flight, instead of checking us in right away, the staff still tried to sell us some tours. I didn’t really mind, but I was tired and wouldn’t book anything last minute anyway. The elevator is quite slow, and even with it, you still have to go down one flight of stairs to reach your room. As soon as we opened the door, there was a strong unpleasant smell. The staff said it was because they had just cleaned and suggested we leave the door open for several minutes — not ideal when all you want to do is rest. They provide complimentary water, coffee, and tea, and breakfast is included. However, the breakfast spread is the same every day, and the bread is already pre-toasted, so it’s cold by the time you get to the small dining area. If you come down late, there’s usually not much food left. Basic toiletries like towels, toothbrushes, toothpaste, soap, and shampoo are provided. The bathroom has a bidet, but the shower’s water pressure is quite weak. Note that the hotel is **not accessible by car** — taxis will drop you off nearby, and you’ll have to walk a bit and find your way via Google Maps. The location is very central, just a one-minute walk to St. Joseph’s Cathedral and surrounded by many restaurants, cafés, and spas. It may look a bit sketchy at first, but this seems typical for the Old Quarter area. Soundproofing is poor — you can hear noise from the street and even from the next room. Some balusters on the staircase are coming loose, and there were red hairs in the shower area, which suggests it wasn’t thoroughly cleaned. The facilities overall feel quite old. If you’re particular about cleanliness and comfort, this hotel might not meet your expectations. But if you just need a cheap, central place to crash for a night or two, it’s manageable.

My stay at this hotel was mostly positive. The hotel was spotless, with fresh towels provided daily.  The location was perfect, offering easy access to local markets, restaurants, and tourist spots.  The staff were also incredibly accommodating and helpful. However, there was one significant drawback. I booked a double bed, but received two single beds pushed together.  One of the beds was quite uncomfortable; it felt like I was sinking into it.  This significantly impacted my sleep quality.  Despite this issue, the other aspects of the hotel made it a decent stay.

Mixed experience with this hotel. First the good things: the location is great, right in between old town and central government buildings, museums etc., the staff are helpful and friendly, there’s a nice bar on the rooftop and a lovely spa too, there’s even a guide of some good restaurants nearby. The not so good: the room we were given had one tiny window (unlike the room pictures on Trip.com) and felt very dark, so we chose to downgrade ourselves to a smaller room with windows on two sides for more light. The walls of the rooms were thin, so we were kept up very late by chatter next door one night then woken up by a screaming child early next morning - not the hotel’s fault, but to be aware. The rooms weren’t that clean (hair hanging off the shower head etc). We were also ridiculously overcharged for a room service item, the staff were very nice and removed it from the bill when we queried, and offered us free breakfast to make up for it, but the breakfast was distinctly not as good (less variety, less fresh, Vietnamese coffee charged extra) as the one we’d had at a similarly priced Saigon hotel the previous days.

I stayed at Oriental Suites Hotel & Spa in Hanoi and really enjoyed it. The location is excellent – right in the middle of the Old Quarter, which makes it perfect for shopping, eating, and experiencing the nightlife. The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the rooms were clean and comfortable. The only downside was that my room didn’t have any windows, which made it feel a bit enclosed. That said, everything else was great, and for the location and service, it’s still a fantastic choice.

Location is great. It's smaller than I thought, but it's a nice hotel with a doorman. I can't speak Japanese. English or Vietnamese. The room is clean and has everything you need. The rooftop pool is small but perfect for cooling down a hot body. Bar was not popular. Good view. Breakfast was delicious, but it was a pity that the pho was sold out. I overslept on the day I left and was slapped, but thank you for your kindness.

The room is clean. The lady who cleaned it did a perfect job. However, things that you hope did not happen to your hotel stay happened to me. First, the TV couldn’t be switched on at all. It looks like a decoration only. Secondly, the aircon was not even cold. The moment you switched on, the temperature always stayed at 25 degrees regardless what you pressed on the remote. Best, the remote didn’t even show you the numbers or anything but it could be used to switch the aircon on and off. Thankfully, there was a standing fan in the room so we used that to keep the room cooling. Lastly, the ponding at bathroom.. after you bathed and the water just collected there that kind, yeap. Thankfully as well, the hotel staff came up to fix the ponding issue. The view from the top floor swimming pool area was amazing though. I wish I would come back as the reviews have been great and maybe just me being unlucky this trip getting the faulty room, but, I’ll try other hotel as comparison for my returning trip instead. Thanks to the friendly staffs! They were great 👍🏻

Same budget can find better. Hotel location is in the alley but easy to walk to the main road. The alley is very lively, the whole alley is doing business, if you want to experience local life is also good, but the view from the room depends on everyone's preferences, my room is the roof of someone else's house. There was no towel in the room after check in. It seemed that the hotel had some difficulties. I got the towel very late and the air conditioner was a bit dripping. Breakfast is very simple and it is recommended that you do not need to order extra breakfast. The hotel has to climb the stairs to get there. If there is a large luggage and inconvenient feet, it will be a little trouble. Overall, it’s okay, but the same budget can find better.

The staff at this hotel were exceptionally kind and helpful! I've travelled to more than 30 countries and stayed in loads of hotels. The staff here were the some of the kindest I've ever encountered. We stayed for two nights before traveling around Vietnam and at the end of our trip decided to return to this hotel again because of the nice people who work here. I stayed one night before it in the Intercontinental which is supposed to be the best, but it was so old worn dirty compared to this excellent hotel. I first came across Metropole in 1993 when visiting Hanoi as part of a government delegation. The officials stayed at the hotel but business people at the guest house next door. The guest house had very basic facilities but it did not matter as the impression from that short visit made me want to return. Hanoi even in those days had a very well developed culture, refined but understated. I said I would like to return again hopefully be able to qualify to stay at the Metropole, a hotel with a rich history and a place where I like to call home.

This hotel is a bit old, and the room was a little damp with average lighting. However, it's right by West Lake, in a very quiet area. A stay brushed in gold — beautiful, with a few areas to refine
. Dolce by Wyndham Hanoi Golden Lake is certainly visually striking. The hotel is incredibly photogenic, and while the overall experience was lovely in many ways, it leaned more towards being aesthetically impressive than feeling like a seamless 5-star stay. 📍 Location
The location is quieter and less central than the Old Quarter, which is worth considering if you enjoy being close to major attractions. That said, the lakeside setting created a calm, peaceful atmosphere that we really appreciated. ✨ Highlights
The personalised service from the front desk and door staff was a real highlight. They remembered our names and room number throughout our stay, which felt thoughtful and welcoming. Our room was spacious and the lake view was genuinely beautiful. The gym was clean, updated, and perfectly adequate for a comfortable workout. The buffet breakfast offered a wide range of options and variety. ⚠️ Areas for improvement
There were a few small details that, with a little more attention, could elevate the experience even further. We were provided with an ironing board that wasn’t in working condition and an iron that was missing parts, which caused a slight delay to our plans one morning. A replacement iron was provided, however it was marked and unfortunately left a small stain on one of my garments. The pickleball court was located in a basement area that felt a little unfinished and could benefit from some added care and presentation. The rooftop pool offered lovely skyline views, however the space itself felt quite quiet, with worn lounge chairs and limited ambience. A poolside bar or some soft music could really enhance the atmosphere and make this area more inviting. One evening, an event held above our room resulted in music and drums being audible late into the night, which impacted rest. Better soundproofing could help ensure guest comfort during events. The laundry service was priced at the higher end, and a price list wasn’t provided. While we could have asked in advance, clearer upfront pricing would have made the experience a little smoother. Breakfast service was pleasant, though it felt less interactive compared to other 4- and 5-star hotels we stayed at in Hanoi, where staff were especially proactive in checking in with guests, offering recommendations, and seeking feedback. 🌿 Final thoughts
A very beautiful hotel with warm front-facing staff, spacious rooms, and lovely views. With a little more attention to detail and consistency in service, this property has the potential to offer a truly exceptional luxury experience. A wonderful stay in many ways, with just a few opportunities to shine even brighter.

We arrived in Hanoi super early in the morning, and the staff was very helpful on keeping our luggage and even allowed us to check in around 11am. The room was spacious and everything was clean. There’s a spa downstairs. The breakfast spread was not a lot of variety but you’ll get fed if you’re not picky. The one thing I’ll say is that the bathroom was a bit annoying, when using the shower there’s a bathroom curtain for the entire bathroom that needs to be put down and then pulled back up, when you want to leave cause it’ll be block the door. I would like to recommend that bathrooms be built with the intention of privacy and not these semi translucent glass. It’s not very family friendly.

The location of the hotel is perfect. Very easy to get around and there are many restaurants and areas that you can get to. The bar and breakfast at the lobby level are nice. Good selection from the buffet line.. Definitely worth it to enjoy your breakfast there. In terms of services, the front desk staff were not too nice. No smiling no conversations at all. All were like robots. I asked for late checkout upon check in. It was a strict reply of “No”. No explanations or offering any courtesy. Check out was the same. The staff didn’t even look at you. They for sure need more service training. The bed was comfortable and big. Overall design was a bit dated but acceptable. The shower temperature was unstable. It was sometimes hot sometimes cold. They had some kind of drilling work done at 8am. It was not extremely loud but good enough to wake you up and disturbed your sleep. I don’t see any reasons of returning as there should be may other options.

I booked a room for women only and the staff put me in a mixed room, and only after my complaints did they change my room. In addition, the bathroom is always dirty: clogged sinks and toilet paper on the floor. You can’t stay in the common room in the evening because there is a man who sleeps on the couch and kicks you out if you talk (to talk on the phone in the evening you practically have to leave the hostel). Last thing I was never able to have breakfast because it always closed early and the staff was rude. As a solo travel woman I didn’t feel safe either in the men’s room, nor in the common room where a man sleeps every night

The room was a little small but clean and the bathroom was a good size and also had a bathtub which was nice because I prefer baths. The only strange thing was that due to Tet Holliday they locked the front door with a bike lock from 12-6 and we wanted to go outside to smoke a cigarette. Thankfully he did let us out and we felt really bad because he was sleeping behind the desk. I think due to the Holliday the hotel was short staffed.

The room and bathroom are specious. Some rooms have river view. The hotel located outside of the old town, so if you want to go there, it’s possible to walk, but to take a taxi it’s more reasonable. It’s pretty good place for a couple of nights.

Good hotel. Great stay. Good location. Very accommodating front desk. Spacious hotel room. Enjoyed our stay. Not baby stroller/ wheel chair friendly. Needs to take about 1 sets of about 15 stair steps to lobby and 2 sets of 4-5 stair steps to go to elevator. Narrow elevator and walk path.

I stayed there for around 3 days. It wasn't super dirty. The security guy is helpful. However it was really cold at night and there was only a sheet provided with no proper blanket. First I had to wear all clothes I had to stay warm, next day I had to ask for a blanket and I was given a regular couch cover type of blanket which I had to put in half to stay warm. Hot water doesn't work, water pressure is weak. I don't think it's suitable for living for more than 1 day.

Good place to stay when you need to be around the airport, very cost efficient. We did not find a shower gel, there was only soap. The rooms are ok to sleep in, however there was a very intensive chemical lemon-like smell that can make some people’s head hurt. I would stay there again, the staff was pleasant :)

Beautiful new hotel. Everything is brand new. TV in the living room, not in the bedroom. There was a new asphalt road laid during my stay. Beautiful city view from the quiet and peaceful rooftop on the 9th floor. However, a kettle, pots, and pans would be helpful for longer stays. New washing machine, new fridge, microwave, and induction hob – everything is new. Air conditioning in both the living room and bedroom. Very clean and quiet.

The accommodation is about 1.2 kilometers from the airport. If you're just carrying a backpack and you're fit, it's not too far. However, for those with luggage, it might be a bit inconvenient. But the room rate is definitely worth it for a layover or for catching a connecting flight, as it's quite affordable. We only used it for sleeping, and it was perfectly fine. The room was spacious, the bed was large, and the bathroom was standard. The hospitality was normal, and they provided two bottles of water. The air conditioning was good. There are restaurants nearby that accept credit cards, so you don't need to exchange money to eat there, which is a big plus.
