A Deeply Disappointing and Unacceptable Experience at Skylight Hotel I stayed in a mini suite at Skylight Hotel, and I was shocked by how terrible the experience turned out to be. The staff were rude, impatient, and made me feel completely unwelcome from the moment I arrived. For the high price I paid, I expected decent service – instead, I was treated with disrespect and inflexibility. Friends and family who came to visit me were not even allowed to come up to my room. I wasn’t trying to throw a party – just to see my loved ones for a short visit – and even that was forbidden. The hotel felt more like a guarded facility than a place of hospitality. Worse still, the treatment I received clearly depended on the color of my skin. White guests were treated with smiles, courtesy, and flexibility. I, on the other hand, was made to feel like I didn’t belong there. It was blatant discrimination, and I will not stay silent about it. I had originally planned to extend my stay for three more nights, but after one evening, I made the immediate decision to leave. I’ve stayed at many hotels, and this was by far the worst service I’ve ever received. Skylight Hotel should be ashamed. I will never return – and I strongly advise others to think twice before booking here.

The room is quite comfortable, the hotel is surrounded by beautiful environment, the security is good, the facilities and lobby are good

Stayed here during the Meskel holidays. Checking in took some time (2 hours of waiting) since we had no choice but to go to the hotel early before the roads close. Place has modern amenities that made for a comfortable stay. Breakfast is okay, a good selection for vegans and health conscious alike.

A blast from the past. Sure, overall the hotel is a little bit dated, but this only adds to the charm and makes it feel like a little piece of history. Staff is as well trained as you will find in Ethiopia, facilities are great (thermal heated pool!) and the setting is gorgeous.

The room is a bit small, everything else is good, breakfast is average

This hotel is situated in the in-transit area of the international airport in Addis Ababa and well worth the money if you have a long layover. The room is lovely and clean, the shower - heavely, and the bed - sublime. In addition, the breakfast buffet had a wonderful variety and was really delicious. The airport shops and restaurants are very expensive and facilities not great, so it is definitely worth booking into the hotel. It's considerably cheaper to book through trip.com, just be sure to book at least a day in advance if you are landing very early - bookings need to be confirmed by the office which only opens at 8am (Ethiopia time). The hotel is not in the city center so there is nothing nearby, but it is not far to the city center by taxi. The hotel has a swimming pool and spa, but I didn't try them. The room is also average. If you want to stay, I suggest staying at Hyatt Regency. You won't be disappointed

The decoration of this hotel is top-notch in Ethiopia, but the training is not in place. I just checked in and took a nap on the bed. The waiter knocked on the door and swiped his card to come in and said he wanted to change the towels. It would be better to tell the time for breakfast. The person who went to cook noodles at 9:30 said he had finished work.

Very excellent hotel, the location is great, very clean from inside and outside. I hope they get a better system of knowing that travellers are coming, and while all booking are done online, plus paid. Asking for confirmation number, is a great way to start. I’m not writing this review to say anything bad about this hotel, but I have been in a very smaller hotel than this, and they automatically know that I have a confirmation, and booking has been done. Meanwhile, the biggest hotel they should know quickly than that. I love the stuff they are very great. I love the breakfast, but with the price of the rooms, I think that breakfast should be included in the rooms. I really appreciate the generosity. I Also, look forward in the future stay there. I can’t say enough good things about this hotel. Well located - service was great and they also have a great breakfast plus an airport shuttle highly recommend
