The Tropics Eight Suites is a newly opened hotel this year, so we decided to give it a try. Before our trip, we informed the hotel that we were on our honeymoon, and they thoughtfully surprised us with a delicious coconut cake. In terms of location, the hotel is near George Town's city center, not far from the shopping district, and it's very convenient to get around using Grab. The hotel facilities are all very clean and tidy, with a strong, classic British old-money aesthetic that feels wonderfully vintage. The hotel also offers a free gym and pool for guests. The staff were all very warm and polite, always providing detailed information. The most impressive feature was the floor-to-ceiling window with a sea view bathtub – it was simply incredible, beyond words! Katelyn, the front desk attendant, was also very enthusiastic and patient, always answering our questions thoroughly. Overall, the service, facilities, and environment were all close to perfect.
However, one thing to note: the in-room drinking water and capsule coffee are complimentary, but the mini-bar drinks come with a charge. Fellow travelers, remember to check carefully before opening anything!

Highly recommend this hotel in Penang! The facilities are new, the rooms are spacious, and the bed is super comfortable. Breakfast is semi-buffet style; the à la carte options are exquisite and they have a Chinese menu. Glad I didn't go out for Char Kway Teow, the free breakfast was delicious. The swimming pool is stunning, and surprisingly, during National Day, it was completely empty. Ditching the historic 'Eastern & Oriental' proved to be the right decision. It's a shame I couldn't swim due to my period, that amazing pool just had to be admired from afar. In China, a pool like this would be packed with dozens of 'influencers' (ladies vying for attention). At the same price point of 1300-1400, this place absolutely blows the Parkroyal Langkawi out of the water.
