The hotel's layout is really good, it feels very cozy to stay in, and the soundproofing is excellent. However, it might be an older hotel, as even our executive twin room only had one sink. The hairdryer was a Dyson, and the toiletries were Bulgari. Breakfast was fantastic, with hot rice and delicious braised pork mince. But you need your room card for electricity, and once you insert it, the room number display outside turns pink. Rooms without power are blue, and 'do not disturb' is red, so it's quite a colorful display.

The wallpaper in the room is peeling everywhere. 4. There are no power outlets by the bed, and the value for money is terrible. When I asked the front desk for a power strip, they gave me a whole list of conditions. 5. The breakfast area is dirty, and the service is poor. For a five-diamond hotel, you have to clear your own dishes after breakfast. Trip.com customer service, if you see this review, please seriously answer my first question. Thank you!!!

Although the hotel has a long long history, but the room, common area, common facilities have been maintained fairly well. In very good location, close to Sogo. House cleaning is done well while we stayed there. Loved the gym, one of the very few hotels that I have stayed in with a proper size gym. Has kids play area, family friendly. Has in hotel massage and spa. Service is great, particularly the doormen, they were super helpful with our luggage and getting on and off taxis with our kid. Very reasonably priced. Also loved the in room popcorn snack. Attention to detail is great for me.

First day when we arrived theres mould smell in the room, not sure if it a one time thing because its been raining non stop for a whole week while we were in taichung. but once we tell the receptionist the y helped us change to another room that doesn't have any smell and is in good condition so no complaint from me. Very elegant hotel with nice bed and bathroom. The pool was quite cold despite it being summer so it wasn’t very pleasant to swim in. The breakfast was good though it was the same food every day so if you’re staying for more than a few days you may want more variety.

When check in, the staff was busy, It was confused me to rush for check in, apperantly the room was on the other building, so I need to go out and enter the other building. Not sure about the security, looks like no security on the other building. For breakfast I have to go out to the front office building on the 2nd floor. They give coupon for breakfast from 7-10. The breakfast was okay, and same type of menu. The room quite big, the bathroom okay, with full amenities. It seems the the room wasn't clean properly, there some small plastic rubbish on the corner when I check in, I wouldn't bother. Light in front of bathroom wasn't good enougj, since the mirror there you need when you getting ready to go out. They provide water bottle and tea bag. Free store luggage service upon check in and check out. Location is near the train station, walkable to Miyahara and around train station was really nice at night.

There's a common room upstairs where you can eat. They also offer a simple breakfast in the morning with coffee, juice, toast, and dinner rolls. The breakfast was really good, especially the dinner rolls. When toasted, the butter would ooze out – absolutely delicious! The famous Miyahara Eye Clinic is just a short walk away. Next time, if I need to, I'll ask them to help me get a lower bunk.

The staff were very friendly and helpful, and the view from our deluxe room overlooking Taichung Park was beautiful. However, I was surprised to find that the deluxe room was a connecting room, with a shared door to the adjacent room. This made the soundproofing very poor. The first night was fine, but on the second night, the noise from next door was really loud and severely disrupted our sleep. I called the front desk, and the staff kindly arranged a new room for us to rest in, and allowed us to leave our luggage in the original room. I was generally satisfied with this recovery measure, as it saved us a lot of hassle. Nevertheless, I still found it hard to accept that a deluxe room at this price point was a connecting room (even though the view outside was good). It really diminished the value for money. Still, many thanks to the staff for their thoughtful arrangement.

Box Design Hostel turned out to be a really good choice for my stay in Taichung. The location is great — close to everything, well connected, and easy to find food or transport around. The hostel is super clean. I was really impressed by how tidy the rooms and bathrooms were. Hair dryers, shampoo, and body wash were provided, which was nice and convenient. I also loved that they had free coffee, tea, and bottled water available anytime — very useful for travellers on the go! There are just a couple of downsides. The beds are quite slim, so if you prefer a spacious sleeping area, you might feel a bit cramped. Also, there are no towels provided, so bring your own if you plan to stay here. The hotel's location is super convenient, and the staff were all very polite. One of my friends arrived early, and the staff kindly arranged temporary luggage storage for her. Plus, from 10 PM to 11 PM, they provided instant noodles for guests who needed them, which was a really thoughtful touch. The only downside was the absence of tea and coffee bags in the room. Overall, our stay was quite satisfactory.
